Chris Collier
Title (Year) Director. Place is a documentary in the celebratory style of Free Cinema, displaying an intimate portrait of Alan Goble, an obsessed octogenarian with many interests but one passion: to detail, every film ever made anywhere in the world from the earliest days of cinema to the present.

Now a widower, he reflects on his effortful accomplishment, which has been awarded a Guinness Record as the world's largest film-related database.

We also observe him in a moment of relaxation, watching over his garden, rewilded more than forty years ago, where, every evening, generations of badgers snuffle for food, and fox cubs play in the long grass. And, through his own movies, we can observe his progress, from a Saturday morning cinema-going childhood through work and marriage to his solitary existence in a book-lined home, where he continues to find solace in his archival activities. It offers the story of his and our time through a close-up view of an unusual, extraordinary, and individual life.

Chris Collier was born on August 1, 1973, in Brighton, East Sussex, England. He is a director known for Title (Year) Director. Place (2023) and FrightFest: Beneath the Dark Heart of Cinema (2018). As well as working as a documentary filmmaker, he has produced various projects, including; Morbid Fascination: The Nekromantik Legacy (2014) and In Conversation with the Death King (2014). Influenced by the long tradition of British documentaries, Chris is focused on producing personal stories, witnessing lives, finding the extraordinary from within the every day, and sharing the learning.

In contrast to his documentary work, most of Chris's other work is experimental art house where he has made several films, including several one-off installations in collaboration with contemporary pop artist Billy Chainsaw. These works were exhibited at various galleries across London between 2016 and 2018.

Chris's initial work in film was in the sound department, completing the sound design on many projects. This included the sound restoration for the feature documentary The Woods Movie (2015). The initial move to film was a natural progression from music production. While developing future projects, he has continued to work in the sound department and as an editor on several short subjects and feature films. He was a founding partner in the 24 Foot Square production company.
