The Fountain Of Youth – Review
Image
(L-r) Eiza González as Esme, Natalie Portman as Charlotte and John Krasinski as Luke, in The Fountain Of Youth. Courtesy of Apple TV+

The Fountain Of Youth is director Guy Ritchie’s, latest, an action/adventure tale starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman, as a brother-sister duo hunting for the mythical Fountain of Youth. The Fountain Of Youth is a globetrotting adventure yarn blends Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Name Of The Rose, and National Treasure with an art heist thriller. Yet, there is little thrilling here, as the characters, plot and tropes are all too familiar, while the talented stars are miscast in their roles.

Guy Ritchie is a director who burst on the scene with a pair of clever twisty crime thrillers, Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, but mostly failed to live up to that early promise. With The Fountain Of Youth, all that remains...

Guy Ritchie and the ‘Fountain of Youth’ Cast Tease “What’s Next” After Cliffhanger Ending
Image
Director Guy Ritchie has delivered on several projects over the years, and the latest one is the new adventure movie, Fountain of Youth. The new Apple TV+ film is a globe-trotting adventure which follows treasure hunter Luke (John Krasinski) and his team, which includes his estranged sister Charlotte (Natalie Portman) and protector Esme (Eiza González), as they embark on a journey to find the famed Fountain of Youth. Mediocre reviews have trailed the premiere of Fountain of Youth since it arrived this past Friday. However, the adventure film has been able to unseat Apple's long-reigning champion, The Gorge, directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, from the top of the viewership charts. So, what are the chances of Ritchie, González, and Portman returning for a sequel?

This is a question director Ritchie and the Fountain of Youth cast have had to front up to. Speaking...

‘Fountain of Youth’ Ending Explained: What Happened to Owen Carver in the End?
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers ahead for Fountain of Youth

Guy Ritchie’s latest treasure hunt film, Fountain of Youth, surprisingly hit the streamer instead of theaters. While the film’s amazing set pieces make the streaming release feel like a bad decision, John Krasinski isn’t exactly the crowd puller, especially in this role. He plays Luke Purdue alongside Natalie Portman, who plays his estranged sister Charlotte Purdue.

Luke accepts a gig from billionaire Owen Carver, played by Domhnall Gleeson, which leads him to engage in some very illegal heists. Charlotte gets pulled into this pursuit for the Fountain of Youth along with her son Thomas. They are on the run from Interpol officer Jamal Abbas and Eiza González’s Esme, who is a protector of ancient artefacts.

‘Fountain Of Youth’ Ending Explained: Is Owen Carver Dead Or Alive?
Image
Fountain of Youth’s ending was all about the team finding the titular and mythological spring, and drinking from it. Owen Carver, a billionaire who was dying of liver cancer, had hired Luke Purdue to find the water body that had the power to cure him. Luke’s late father had been a treasure-hunter. So, he got in touch with his old mates, Patrick Murphy and Deb McCall, and began stealing a variety of paintings which held the directions to the aforementioned pool. This caught the attention of Esme, a protector of ancient artifacts who worked for the Elder, and Interpol’s Jamal Abbas. But that didn’t stop Luke from roping in not just his estranged sister, Charlotte Purdue (who also happened to be a history expert), but her young son, Thomas, as well. Yeah, the addition of Thomas might seem sketchy, but it was his musical skills that...

‘Fountain Of Youth’ Movie Summary And Spoilers: Will Luke And Esme End Up Together?
Image
Directed by Guy Ritchie, Apple TV’s Fountain of Youth stars the enigmatic Natalie Portman, John Krasinski, Eiza Gonzalez, and Domhnall Gleeson in the lead roles. Though the overall aesthetic and visual elements of the film looked good, I was a bit let down by the storyline and the un-inventiveness of the title. The writers tried to build a story using the same old archetypes that, I believe, just made the entire film seem a bit mundane. That said, let’s find out what happened in the Fountain of Youth, and see if Luke and his team were able to find the titular fountain.

Spoiler Alert

Why did Luke want Charlotte to join his quest?

The film opened with Luke Purdue stuck in Thailand in the company of a bunch of thugs who were after a painting that he had stolen. Luke’s father was an archaeologist, and after his death,...

Fountain of Youth Review: John Krasinski channels his inner Indiana Jones in this fun Guy Ritchie caper
Image
Plot: A treasure hunter (John Krasinski) and his estranged sister (Natalie Portman) are hired by a billionaire (Domhnall Gleeson) to find the mythical fountain of youth. They’re opposed by a deadly agent (Eiza González) of a mysterious organization that wants to keep its location a secret at all costs.

Review: Fountain of Youth is a movie that, had it come out a year ago, would have no doubt made it to theaters. A few star-studded under-performers have made Apple Original Films wary of giving the movies a mainstream release, which is too bad, as Fountain of Youth probably would have done well theatrically. Of the big swings at making tentpole-style streaming hits, Fountain of Youth is on the higher end in terms of quality, thanks to a likeable cast, energetic direction, and a formula that’s hard to screw up.

While Fountain of Youth is undeniably derivative of the...

‘Fountain Of Youth’ Apple TV Review: Guy Ritchie’s ‘Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade’
Image
The state of the action-adventure genre is currently in a state of flux. Harrison Ford donned the hat one last time for The Dial of Destiny, and that was a massive disappointment. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was almost unwatchable. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Amongst Thieves was fine, but it did flop at the box office for reasons I don’t really know. Meanwhile, in the Ott space, the genre is flourishing. Golden Kamuy was a massive hit. Bandidos was really popular amongst fans of puzzle-solving and heists. Time Bandits was quite fun. And then, of course, there was the live-action iteration of One Piece, which took the world by storm. So, what does that exactly mean? That people are not okay with two-hour-plus globe-trotting adventures but are comfortable with watching the same in an episodic fashion? That they are okay with witnessing exotic locales from the comfort of their...

Fountain of Youth review – Guy Ritchie’s Indiana Jones knock-off is a soulless misadventure
John Krasinski
Ritchie’s derivative yarn whisks John Krasinski off to picturesque spots on an uninspired search for treasure and excitement – neither of which arrive

Trying to make John Krasinski happen may be a misguided endeavour, but the campaign to mould him into a new Harrison Ford is bananas. After starring as Jack Ryan on TV, he now plays Luke Purdue, an Indiana Jones knock-off and son of an adventurer-archaeologist in Guy Ritchie’s soulless business-class yarn. Despite plucky work from Natalie Portman as Luke’s disapproving sister Charlotte, this hodgepodge of plundered elements adds up to nothing more than Indiana Bourne and the Thomas Crown Da Vinci Code.

Bankrolled by dying billionaire Owen Carver (Domhnall Gleeson), Luke and his dad’s old team are on the trail of the mythical Fountain of Youth. He even has a PowerPoint presentation to show how he intends to find it: hidden on the backs...

Fountain Of Youth Review: An Indiana Jones Knock-Off Lacking Excitement
Image
Director Guy Ritchie exploded onto the film scene back in 1998 with the frenetic "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels," a scrappy but earnest crime flick that established the young director's iconoclastic voice and propensity for bloke-forward, sweatily masculine stories. Ritchie's films are rarely elegant, and only look as polished as his budgets will allow. He tends to vaunt flippant, laidback protagonists, who would just as soon fire up a bong with you than go on an adventure. His Sherlock Holmes was less a detective as a brilliant dude with his own man-cave and a membership to a fight club. In his "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," when Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) released he had been drugged, he casually laid down on a couch, careful not to muss his hair; he knew what being drugged felt like. Even Ritchie's King Arthur (Charlie Hunnam), in the ultra-bomb "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword,...

‘Fountain of Youth’ Review: Apple’s Epic Asks, ‘What If Indiana Jones Was Annoying?’
Image
There’s a school of thought that says audiences require protagonists they can relate to, but I come from a different school. A cool school, where classes never start before 11am and no one uses AI to do their homework. At my school we teach that when it comes to fun genre films, what matters most is that the audience wants to hang out with the hero, since that’s essentially what we’re doing for two hours whether we relate to them or not. It’s not necessary to see ourselves in a hero, we don’t have to share their experiences or their worldview. We just need to be willing to spend time with them. That’s not much to ask.

So with that in mind, let me say the following: I would seriously consider cutting off one of my own fingers if it meant I didn’t...

Fountain of Youth Review — Guy Ritchie Brings Old-School Adventure Back with Style
Image
As a big fan of Guy Ritchie’s filmography, I was genuinely excited to hear about his latest project. Known for his irreverent, unmistakable style – quick-witted, sarcastic dialogue, frenetic editing, creative use of slow-motion, charismatic characters, and a distinct visual aesthetic – the British director has firmly established himself as one of the most recognizable filmmakers working today. Whether the final result hits or misses, Ritchie almost always manages to stamp his identity onto even the most conventional genres. Fountain of Youth, written by James Vanderbilt, is no exception.

The story follows adventurous siblings Luke (John Krasinski) and Charlotte (Natalie Portman) on a globe-trotting quest for the mythical Fountain of Youth, solving hidden clues in historic sites while racing against other interested competitors. Shot on location across multiple continents, the film exudes an exploratory energy and old-school adventure charm that instantly recalls classics like Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider.

‘Fountain of Youth’ Review: John Krasinski and Natalie Portman Play Squabbling Siblings on a Mission in Guy Ritchie’s Ho-Hum Apple TV+ Actioner
Image
A group of plucky adventurers risk life and limb in pursuit of the Freemason Treasure, I mean Cibola, the lost city of gold, in National Treasure, I mean National Treasure: Book of Secrets, no, dammit, I mean the Fountain of Youth in the new action-adventure film directed by Guy Ritchie premiering on Apple TV+.

As my confusion indicates, Fountain of Youth feels all too familiar in its assemblage of action set-pieces in exotic locations, accompanied by the sort of quippy banter that people fighting for their lives probably don’t actually engage in. Starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman as estranged siblings reuniting to search for the mythological spring, the film is the sort of mindless, glossy entertainment tailor-made for streaming, even if its large-scale action sequences and exciting locations would look great on the big screen.

And by location, I mean locations! The story begins with an elaborately choreographed...

Eiza Gonzalez in disbelief about being cast in Fountain of Youth
Eiza Gonzalez was shocked when Guy Ritchie cast her in 'Fountain of Youth'.The 35-year-old actress thought the esteemed 56-year-old film director was "joking" after he got her involved in three back-to-back projects, including 2024's action war movie 'The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare' and 2025's action flick 'In the Grey'.Eiza told SFX magazine: "I was like, 'There's no way that Guy would want me [again].' And in December, right after the holidays - because the holidays can be, kind of, grim sometimes - I was just by myself in Los Angeles, and I got a call, 'You've got the offer.'"I was like, 'You're joking?'"The star plays Esme in the 'Fountain of Youth' - which sees Luke Purdue (John Krasinski), the estranged brother of Charlotte Purdue (Natalie Portman), team up with his sibling for a worldwide hunt to find the mythological titular fountain in the film.

'Blown Away:' John Krasinski Hypes Guy Ritchie's Fountain of Youth
Image
John Krasinski recently hyped an action-packed showdown in Guy Ritchie's new heist movie, Fountain of Youth. He revealed that one of the key scenes in the Indiana Jones-esque film takes place in Vienna's Austrian National Library.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Krasinski said that most of the sequence was actually shot on location. "I was genuinely blown away that they were letting us fly drones there before we even got to the fight scene," he explained. "There was a drone shot of us walking in. And then, the fact that they had actual secret doors - the library genuinely has bookshelves that open up into doors that go into secret rooms. That was pretty awesome."

Fountain of Youth stars Krasinski as Luke Purdue, with Natalie Portman starring as his estranged younger sister Charlotte. The two siblings team up to try and find the famed Fountain of Youth from legend. Krasinski's...

The movie is about Krasinski's character Luke Purdue and his quest to find the Fountain of Youth, having been hired to find it by Owen Carver (Gleeson). He brings his sister (Portman) and her son along, but they soon find themselves being trailed by a mysterious woman, Esme (González) who wants them to fail in their quest. Eventually, Esme catches up to Luke in Vienna’s Austrian National Library, a place of great importance both historically and culturally.

Where Was Twilight Filmed? Every Major Location Explained
Image
In 2008, the first "Twilight" movie — based on a novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer — hit theaters, made stars out of the two young leads Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, and became one of the biggest young adult sensations in modern cinematic history. The story begins when Stewart's socially awkward teen Bella Swan moves to Forks, Washington to live with her dad Charlie (Billy Burke), the police chief of the small town; her whole world turns sideways when she meets Edward Cullen (Pattinson), a handsome but mysterious high school student hiding an enormous secret. (He's a vampire. That's the secret.)

Across five movies — "Twilight" and its "Twilight Saga" sequels "New Moon," "Eclipse," and parts one and two of "Breaking Dawn" — we watch as Bella and Edward navigate the difficulties of a relationship between a human teenager and a century-old vampire masquerading as a regular teenager, dealing with all...

Nicole Kidman Hits A Notable Box Office Milestone For The First Time In 17 Years With Babygirl
Image
Thanks to Babygirl, Nicole Kidman just crossed a major box office milestone for the first time in nearly two decades. The 2024 release sees Kidman as CEO Romy Mathis as she attempts an affair with Harris Dickinson's Samuel. Babygirl has earned exceptional reviews, with Screen Rant's Alex Harrison describing it as "fascinating to watch" and "calibrated exactly right to its time". It was officially released on December 25, 2024, and has already earned back its $20 million budget.

This movie is a massive success for Kidman, no matter how its run ends. After all, for the first time since Australia (2008), Kidman has earned over $20 million domestically. Her latest movie currently sits at $21.7 million at the domestic box office, as per The Numbers. While she has achieved that total with other projects, including both the Aquaman movies and Paddington (2014), none of those works saw her in a leading role. It is her first...

‘Babygirl’ Review: Nicole Kidman Is Debased and Desired by Harris Dickinson in a Kinky, Sex-Positive S&m Dramedy
Image
Editor’s Note: This review was originally published during the 2024 Venice Film Festival. A24 releases “Babygirl” in theaters December 25.

The worst thing your partner could possibly say to you after sex, after you’ve said “I love you,” is the dreaded “love you.” No “I.” And that’s not the most demoralizing response Romy (Nicole Kidman) has for an amorous confession by her husband Jacob (Antonio Banderas) in “Babygirl,” writer/director Halina Reijn’s provocative erotic dramedy that begins and ends with an orgasm. One of them is faked, but in between, this perversely funny and absorbing new film explores the pleasure gap between men and women, and how our inability to talk about sex limits our ability to just do it.

And there’s lots of sex here, with Kidman going raw inside and out for one of her top performances in a career built on risk-taking. That’s...

Babygirl (2024) – Review
Image
All ready to indulge in a holiday tradition, at least for the last couple of decades? The movie industry discovered that lots of folks do their Christmas festivities the night before and very early (depending on the kiddos maybe dawn) that day, so they want to bag up the ripped-up wrapping paper and head over to the multiplex for a flick, preferably a brand spankin’ (there’s some foreshadowing) new one. Well, that spirited indie upstart A24 (quickly becoming more of a major player) is going to get in on the action. If you’ve been extra nice for this festive season, they’ve got something naughty in store. It appears that they’ve been saving the big star power for the year’s end since they released the steamy Queer with ex-Bond Daniel Craig a few weeks ago. And now an Oscar winner will be fogging up the auditoriums...

The Secret to Harris Dickinson’s Seductive ‘Babygirl’ Performance? Pretending He Didn’t Know Anything About Co-Star Nicole Kidman

When Harris Dickinson first appears in Halina Reijn’s sexy, slippery “Babygirl,” he’s got a dog treat in his hand and a nervous twinkle in his eye. As he charms an angry pup, a terrified and slightly thrilled Nicole Kidman watches just down the street, now safe from the snapping maw of the previously out-of-control canine. The implication is clear: here is someone who can soothe even the wildest of creatures. Perhaps that can extend to Kidman’s Romy?

She — and the audience — find out the answer soon enough. In Reijn’s erotic thriller, Romy’s tightly controlled existence as both a high-powered CEO and a loving wife and mother is thrown into complete disarray by the arrival of alluring intern Samuel (Dickinson). As the pair embark on a kinky, sex-positive Bdsm relationship, both of them open themselves to just about everything: pleasure, pain, ruin, George Michael dance parties,...

20 Best Movies Of 2024
Image
Last year was unforgettable when it came to the movies that were released. July alone will always be remembered for “Barbenheimer,” but that was just one chapter in 2023’s impressive list of highlights. 2024 instantly had the tough task of living up to the previous calendar year, but the world of movies hasn’t disappointed. While there have been some surprises at the box office, 2024 has featured some great quality films in theaters and on streaming.

Among 2024’s best of the best are a few franchise sequels, some fantastic original stories, and even a prequel that didn’t dominate the box office but deserves praise nonetheless. As we’ve learned time and time again, some of the best movies aren’t blockbusters. Whether they are streaming gems or indie titles that require digging deeper to find, it’s always worth considering movies of all sizes. Therefore, the team at Screen Rant...

Port Charles (1997)
General Hospital cast shakeup: Is Gh headed for disaster?
Port Charles (1997)
2024 has been a rough year for General Hospital and the actors who work on the hit ABC soap.

Casting changes have taken over, and the canvas that once was Port Charles looks unfamiliar.

Some actors who left were expected, and some were newer additions who didn’t hold the weight of the other goodbyes.

However, when more than a few long-term actors leave, there begins questions about what the end goal is and what direction General Hospital is headed in.

General Hospital is the last remaining ABC soap, and I was shocked when it was chosen to continue. All My Children and One Life to Live were much better, in my opinion, though I had watched all three for decades.

Now, it seems there could be trouble for the long-running soap as many viewers are still reeling from recent casting decisions.

Gh Spoilers: Heather & Esme’s Shocking Reunion, Convinces Mom To Help With Revenge
Avery Kristen Pohl
General Hospital (Gh) spoilers reveal that while Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) met her demise when she and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) tumbled overboard on a cruise in France, like everything other character who has passed on in soaps, there’s still a chance she could return.

As no bodies were found, will she give her mom, Heather Webber (Alley Mills) a shock of a lifetime by showing up in Sedona, very much alive?

General Hospital Spoilers – Fans Should Always Expect The Unexpected

Gh spoilers remind fans that after Heather was released from prison, she quickly left the land of Port Charles, along with Steve Webber (Scott Reeves).

She wanted to stay in town for Ace Cassadine’s (Jay and Joey Clay) sake, as the little boy is her last remaining connection with her daughter, but thankfully Steve was able to convince her to start a new life with him in Sedona.

Babygirl star Nicole Kidman Would Love To Make a Movie With Martin Scorsese
Image
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Nicole Kidman was asked if there were any directors she'd love to work with that she hadn't worked with already. The actress listed several names, including Paul Thomas Anderson, Spike Jonze, and Kathryn Bigelow, but one particular name mentioned by Kidman may have come with a little bit of shade.

Ive always said I want to work with [Martin] Scorsese, if he does a film with women.

This is likely in reference to Scorsese's penchant for making films mostly about (and even arguably for) men, a criticism of his work that made headlines in 2019 when the director stated he didn't "have time anymore" to write for women.

Scorsese and his fans point to several titles in the filmmaker's large body of work that feature strong roles for women, namely Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, one of only a few titles to feature a woman as the protagonist.

Gary James Fuller
General Hospital (Gh) spoilers and updates for Wednesday, October 30 tease Halloween questions, father-son talks, and engagement news.

Next On General Hospital

James West (Gary James Fuller) has Halloween questions, Dante and Rocco Falconeri have a father-son talk, and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) hears engagement news.

General Hospital Spoilers: Halloween Questions

At Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) house, little cowboy James has questions about what Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) is going as for Halloween.

James is probably expecting his favorite uncle to take him trick or treating, but he’s obviously in no shape-he looks like he’s drunk again!

Maxie tells James that it looks like Cody is going as someone who made a big mistake last night!

Cody still looks like he’s either drunk or perhaps has a huge hangover, but his face is one of inebriation! Either way, he’s likely not going anywhere and will need to sleep it off first.

Gh Spoilers: Steven Webbers Returns To Confront Heather Webber
Alley Mills
General Hospital (Gh) spoilers tease that Heather Webber (Alley Mills) has had three children and all of them have suffered because of her in one way of another.

Her youngest, a daughter named Esme Prince (Avery Kirsten Pohl) was also fathered by serial killer Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom).

Heather put Esme up for adoption, so she didn’t even know who her parents were until her teens. And yet, she was still troubled and dangerous. Unfortunately, she died in a confrontation with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) earlier this year.

General Hospital Spoilers – Franco Baldwin Was A Serial Killer

Heather’s son Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) wasn’t raised by Heather either. He suffered from a brain tumor for years that no one diagnosed which turned him into a dangerous serial killer.

Once the tumor was removed, Franco reformed and married Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst). Elizabeth and Franco were quite happy until the tumor came back.

Babygirl Cast & Character Guide: Who Stars Alongside Nicole Kidman In Erotic Thriller
Image
Thanks to its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, Babygirl made waves ahead of its theatrical release and it helps that it boasts an all-star cast. Directed by Halina Reijn (Bodies Bodies Bodies), the Nicole Kidman-led erotic thriller centers on Romy, a high-powered CEO who finds herself entangled in a high-stakes affair with her much younger intern, Samuel (Harris Dickinson). Although Romy is mostly satisfied with her long-time marriage to Jacob (Antonio Banderas), something is missing when it comes to desire and sex. Hailed as one of the best erotic thrillers in years, Babygirl explores complex power dynamics.

Not only does the film feature an age-gap romance, but Babygirl plays with the characters' positions of power. While Kidman's Romy is in charge in the workplace, the ever-confident Samuel takes control elsewhere. The character-driven narrative easily makes Babygirl one of Nicole Kidman's best movies, though it also leaves ample room for Dickinson,...

‘Gh’ Star Tabyana Ali Speaks Out Over Lack Of Storyline For Trina
Image
The character of Trina has been floundering on Gh since Spencer’s “death.” Actress Tabyana Ali speaks out on the lack of a storyline in an interview with co-star Maurice Benard. Keep reading for all the details.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s Exit Put An End To ‘Sprina’

Spencer and Trina’s romance first started in 2021 when they started to get to know each other as friends. Love eventually blossomed and the two were inseparable. Nicholas Alexander Chavez took over the role of Spencer in 2021 after the legacy character was rapidly aged (SORASed.)

Several actresses played the role of Trina before Tabyana Ali took over in 2022. As the characters fell in love, viewers fell in love right along with them. Their romance culminated in the characters spending the night together in September 2023.

Gh Alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez In Trailer for Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, See Here!
Image
General Hospital’s Nicholas Alexander Chavez left his role as Spencer Cassadine earlier this year. At the time, fans knew they would soon see Chavez on Netflix in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle and Eric Menendez Story. Netflix has just released the Monsters extended trailer in preparation for the premiere on September 19.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez Plays Killer, Lyle Menendez

General Hospital’s Chavez left the role of Spencer to play real-life killer Lyle Menendez. Lyle and his brother, Erik Menendez (Cooper Koch), were convicted of killing their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez in 1996. The killings, which took place in 1989 will be explored in Murphy’s new series.

Netflix offers some snippets of the trailer last month, however, this one is a three minute trailer.

The new trailer shows more of what the audience will see during the premiere of the series. The Trailer starts with Lyle and Erik entering...

‘Babygirl’ Review: Nicole Kidman Is A Woman On The Verge In Halina Reijn’s Sexually Charged S&m Story – Venice Film Festival
Image
Halina Reijn’s frank sexual odyssey begins as it means to go on, with a level of candor that many audiences will find hard to process. They’ll buy into Nicole Kidman’s performance alright, since it’s hard to ignore the amount of dedication, not to mention naked flesh, that she brings to the role. But though there are wry laughs to be had, from the exquisite awkwardness of the setup alone, Babygirl was received by many at its Venice premiere as a comedy, which trivializes the extraordinary atmosphere that Reijn creates. Her experiences working as an actor for Paul Verhoeven (on 2006’s Black Books) clearly rubbed off, since her third feature owes a small debt to his controversial revenge thriller Elle, which raised a similarly provocative debate about male aggression and female sexuality.

If that sounds intense, you may fall at the opening fence; Babygirl opens on Kidman...

Gh Spoilers: Portia Puts Her Career And Marriage In Jeopardy!
Tabyana Ali
General Hospital (Gh) spoilers tease that Portia Robinson (Brooke Kerr) is many things. She’s a loving wife, a devoted mother, and an excellent doctor. She’s always been fiercely protective of her daughter, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).

As viewers may remember, Portia made her distaste for Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) clear to anyone who would listen. Spencer and Trina eventually fell in love, but Portia vehemently disapproved of their relationship until right before Spencer died.

General Hospital Spoilers – Spencer Cassadine Brought Danger To Trina Robinson

Portia wasn’t completely wrong about Spencer. Although he would never have hurt Trina personally, Spencer’s involvement in Trina’s life brought her quite a bit of trouble.

Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) was jealous of Spencer and Trina’s relationship, so she set out to destroy Trina’s life by framing her for revenge porn. Esme’s plan failed but Trina almost...

I'm So Baffled By The Way Edward Uses His Immortality In Twilight
Image
The Cullens attending high school in Twilight makes no sense for immortal vampires. Stephenie Meyer's decision to center Twilight in high school life seems to be purely a plot device so that Edward can meet Bella. Twilight could have explored the more mystical aspects of the vampire lore instead of sending the Cullens to high school.

Although Twilight continues to be a pillar of the paranormal romance genre, one aspect of the book series continues to haunt me to this day. In 2005, Stephenie Meyer released Twilight, the very first in a set of four books about a romance between a human girl and an immortal vampire. These novels quickly gained popularity among readers, and in 2008, were adapted into movies starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. I can certainly respect the impact that Twilight has had on literature over the years, but there is one detail that continues to elude me.

General Hospital Spoilers August 7: Portia Holds Onto Hope
Image
General Hospital spoilers for Wednesday, August 7, focus on loyalty, hope, and concern.

Hope

Portia’s focus this summer has been on Heather (Alley Mills) staying in jail for as long as possible. After all, the woman targeted Trina (Tabyana Ali) in the name of Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl). And that is unacceptable and unforgivable. To her, a cobalt-poisoned hip replacement doesn’t excuse any of her actions. At one point, she admitted to Curtis (Donnell Turner) that she would even attempt to get Laura (Genie Francis) recalled from her position as mayor. Anything to keep Heather behind bars.

Well, we haven’t heard much from Portia (Brook Kerr) ever since that admission. But on Wednesday, the good doctor is hopeful. Is she hopeful that she can stop Heather from being freed or hopeful that she can get Laura booted out of office? Or is something else causing her hopeful feelings?...

‘General Hospital’ Will Esme Return To Port Charles?
Image
As General Hospital writers seem to be getting rid of several fan-favorite characters and bringing others back, many viewers are wondering what will come of Esme Prince. Will she come back to Port Charles any time soon? Here’s what we know.

Fans Want To Know If Esme Will Return To Gh

Viewers may remember that Esme Prince (portrayed by Avery Pohl) was last seen during the January 31, 2024 episode. In that episode, she fell overboard on a yacht during an altercation with her ex-boyfriend Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), and his girlfriend, Trina (Tabyana Ali).

Since then, both Esme and Spencer were presumed to be dead. Nicholas Chavez also confirmed he would not be returning to General Hospital. For now, at least.

One Gh fan took to Reddit to discuss Esme’s potential return. They posed the question, “Do you think we’ll ever see Esme again?”

Cullen Family Powers In Twilight, Ranked
Image
Your browser does not support the video tag.

In The Twilight Saga movies and books, vampires are beautiful, fast, strong, spark in the sun, and have a superior sense of smell, all of which contribute to their ability to hunt humans. Additionally, some of them also have extra special powers.

Within the Twilight lore, when some humans transform into vampires, their strongest trait is enhanced to a supernatural level. The stronger it was in human form, the more powerful it would be in vampire mode. Twilight's Cullen family is a particularly gifted group. Throughout the Twilight franchise, each Cullen has the opportunity to show off unique vampire powers, but some are better than others. Here is when each Cullen became a vampire, and their powers ranked from least to most impressive.

Lucky appeared last of part of his father, Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) exit storyline. But Lucky still has plenty of people in Port Charles who love him and would be happy to see his return home. So what do you think will be the circumstances of Lucky’s upcoming return? Let’s take a look?

General Hospital Spoilers – Lucky Spencer Has Unfinished business!

Lucky is the biological father of Aiden Webber (Tristan Riggs). Although Lucky hasn’t been around in recent years, he does still bear some responsibility for the care of his son.

As a child Aiden was bullied by other children at school, including his cousin Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez).
