BBC Studios Names New CFO After Record Results

Following a set of record annual results, BBC Studios has named its next CFO as Lorraine Burgess departs. Amanda Jones, who had been doing the role on an interim basis, is taking the gig on permanently and becomes a Director of BBC Commercial, which incorporates BBC Studios. Starting next month permanently and reporting to CEO Tom Fussell, Jones will oversee budgeting, reporting, business support and financial controls, while working across strategy. She will join BBC Studios Executive Committee and become a member of the BBC’s Commercial Board. She has worked for Sky, ITV and Emap in the past, and joined BBC Studios a year ago to take up the interim CFO role. After spending far too many episodes so far up Olympia’s backside that she could check the senior attorney for teeth cavities, Kira came along and threw Sarah into a whirlwind crush.

Normally, a side character probably wouldn’t have made such an impact on the story, except most of her scenes on Matlock are with the titular character herself.

I think it’s safe to say that almost every viewer was ready for Sarah to loosen her grip on just about anything she could get her hands on.

In the past, filmmakers have talked about pushing the PG-13 rating to the limit, seeing what they can get away with before the Motion Picture Association slaps an R-rating on their work. However, until now, that conversation has rarely been brought up by a director of a PG-rated movie, especially one developed by Pixar.

In an interview with Empire (via Screen Rant), Elio co-director Madeline Sharafian shared that the animated movie will push the studio's ratings boundaries by including references to acclaimed horror classics like Alien, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and The Thing. "[Elio has] some sci-fi horror references. It's one of our best surprises, so I don't want to give away too much," she teased. "I'm always trying to push it to be weirder and a little creepier, to ride that line of the PG movie."

Walt Disney Studios announced several new projects in the works over the weekend at D23 2024 in addition to giving updates on titles it has in the works.

Films that are still in the early stages of development include Toy Story 5, Frozen 3 and Incredibles 3. Other projects further along that received major updates include Tron: Ares, Elio, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Andor Season 2, Ironheart, Daredevil: Born Again and many more.

Pete Docter was on hand to reveal that the studio's first original series Win or Lose will begin streaming exclusively on Disney+ on December 6.

Now, the beloved animation studio has announced a new film on its upcoming slate: Hoppers. According to Deadline, Pixar announced its newest film, Hoppers, at D23, with the movie telling a sci-fi tale about a man and a beaver swapping brains. The film stars Jon Hamm as the man who befalls such a predicament and Bobby Moynihan as the beaver.
