Every Version of The Joker's Batsuit in DC Comics Canon
Image
At various times in DC Comics history, the Joker has donned his own version of the Batsuit; from cosplaying as Batman, to Dark Multiverse versions of Bruce Wayne who became the "Batman Who Laughs." In a twisted turn, Joker was even given his very own Batsuit by Batman, enhancing his durability and weaponizing him against superpowered zombies. The Joker's war suit, equipped with Wayne Tech, granted him night vision, an explosive batarang, and the ability to disrupt communication lines as he wreaked havoc on Gotham.

The Joker is one of the most visually striking characters to have ever appeared in comics. His immediately recognizable appearance is one of the things that originally helped him stand out from other comic villains at the time. While early-career Batman was mostly facing gangsters or mad scientists, Joker hit the scene in a clean purple suit, rocking neon green hair, and pale white skin.

Power Rangers Got Dark New Armor By Sacrificing Their 90s Powers
Image
It used to be that a Power Ranger without their Power Coin was not much of a force for good, but in the alternate Power Rangers reality known as the World of the Coinless, Rangers are able to function near the level of their "coined" colleagues. When the Coinless have the chance to reclaim their Power Coins in Anthony Burch and Simone Ragazzoni's Power Rangers: Lord Drakkon - New Dawn #3, some question the need for their power coins at all.

Lord Drakkon, the World of the Coinless timeline's version of iconic Power Ranger Tommy Oliver, is seemingly dead, leaving a power vacuum in this reality, giving the surviving Rangers an opportunity to resurrect the original team.

However, Zack and Trini, leaders of the Coinless resistance since Drakkon's rise, reject their Power Rings. They opt instead to share the Rings' energy to arm and protect the Coinless rebels.

Drakkon's Sinister...

Power Rangers' Darkest Timeline Gave The '90s Red Ranger a Twisted New Identity
Image
Though there have been many iterations of the Red Ranger across the Power Rangers franchise, none are as shocking as the Jason Lee Scott version in the alternate reality known as the World of the Coinless. This is a reality where Tommy Oliver's Green Ranger never regains his "good side" after being corrupted by Rita Repulsa, and instead learns to embrace his dark side. A decade after conquering humanity, Tommy Oliver aka Lord Drakkon disappears. He's believed to be dead, but is actually living in the Power Rangers' main reality.

Anthony Burch and Simone Ragazzoni's 2020 miniseries Power Rangers: Drakkon - New Dawn explores the World of the Coinless in the wake of Tommy's absence. Former Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart, who was herself corrupted by Tommy to do his bidding as the Ranger Slayer, regains her true personality and is now committed to bringing the world out of the darkness of Drakkon's rule.

Joker's Biggest Secret Is That He's Perfectly Sane
Image
The DC Universe is full of absurd criminals, but none of them is as unhinged as the Joker. His insanity has, time and time again, helped him escape death row; if he isn't in his right mind, he isn't fit to stand trial for his crimes. But DC once revealed that the Joker's biggest secret is that he's entirely sane.

The Joker is one of the most dangerous comic-book villains to ever exist: he has been an iconic rival to Batman for almost one hundred years, and he has fought heroes across the DC Universe. The Joker has even taken on Superman. Despite the countless people Joker has killed — and the numerous times he's been caught — he has never been sentenced to the death penalty. In fact, Joker has driven doctors insane due to his own insanity. If Joker isn't responsible for his actions then he surely can't be punished for them.

Joker Loves Making His Own Batsuits, And His New One Is The Best Yet
Image
Warning! Contains spoilers for Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing #5!Many DC Universe characters who have worked with or for Batman have donned their own Batsuit, but one of the most surprising characters who have a history of wearing a Batsuit is none other than the Joker.

The Joker has been one of Batman's longest and most recurring enemies. Whenever there is a major event in Batman's life, it is almost always tied to the Joker. And just like Batman, over the years of their fighting, Joker has continually updated his appearance, but one of the Joker's strangest fashion choices is how he keeps on wearing Batsuits. This was most recently seen by readers in Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing #5 by Matthew Rosenberg and Carmine Di Giandomenico.

While searching for one of his former safe houses, the Joker drops in on Mad Hatter terrorizing some children. Wearing a homemade Batsuit,...

2022 Redefined Joker's Place In The DC Universe... As A Force For Good
Image
The DC Universe is full of hundreds of unique heroes and villains, sometimes these characters have managed to turn over a new leaf, for better or worse, such as when Hal Jordan became the villain Paragon, but one of the most shocking things DC did in 2022 was potentially having Joker turn over a new leaf as an anti-hero.

The Joker has been one of the most brutal villains in comic book history for almost as long as he's been in comic books. Joker has never really made any attempts to be anything he wasn't. Even from his first appearance, he was portrayed as a brutal serial killer, and he's mostly only gotten worse as time has gone on. While Joker has varied what heroes he targets, sometimes even going after Superman, the Joker is one of DC's darkest villains, but recently his aims have been tinged at least a bit more heroic.

‘The Joker: Year of the Villain #1′ Review (DC Comics)
Written by John Carpenter, Anthony Burch | Art by Philip Tan, Marc Deering, Danny Miki, Jonathan Glapion | Published by DC Comics

It’s always nice when a small time villain like The Joker gets his own spotlight issue. Hidden away as he is by DC, it would be nice to see him get some exposure….said no one ever. Let’s be honest, especially at the moment, you just cannot escape The Joker. Be it in comics, or on screen, including The Joker movie, TV shows like Gotham, and animated movies like Killing Joke. He’s a one man industry. But why? Was is it about The Joker that taps into the human psyche and interests us so. Is it a repressed hatred of our fellow humans? A chance to stick it to the man? anarchic rebellion? Truth is, I think, all those things. The Joker is such a malleable character,...

John Carpenter's Joker: Year of the Villain Comic First Look Arrives from DC
John Carpenter
John Carpenter is breaking into the DC universe with his latest endeavor. The horror master is writing a new comic book series titled Joker: Year of the Villain for DC Comics. Anthony Burch is set to co-write the series with Carpenter. We first learned about the project over the summer but now, we have some new details and it sounds like Carpenter is bringing his sensibilities along for the crazy ride.

The first issue of the Joker book is set to arrive next month. It will take place inside the main DC Comics continuity. So this won't be a one-off Elseworlds tale or something along those lines. John Carpenter, in a recent interview, teased, "You're going to read some disturbing material." Anthony Burch explained, in detail, what we can expect from the John Carpenter story and how it fits into what's going on in Gotham City now.

"If you're reading...

Hero Nation: John Carpenter, JJ Abrams Join Hollywood’s Push Into Comics
Image
John Carpenter is taking his Hollywood horror sensibilities to Gotham City, with DC Comics’ recent announcement that the director of The Thing, Halloween, and The Fog is co-writing a special 40-page Joker comic book.

Carpenter isn’t the only Hollywood notable dabbling in the comic book world — far from it, in fact, he’s actually part of a crush of celebrity tourists who are putting their names on comics. The allure for some is the IP creation opportunities, while others hope to tap into the evolving medium’s new indie-spirited cachet. For some it’s a purer pursuit, a low-cost way to produce a pet project or a nostalgic lark that reconnects them with comics traditions and characters they loved in their own youth.

With Hollywood poised to make its annual southbound pilgrimage to San Diego’s Comic-Con International this week, here’s a look at two dozen notable show-biz...

John Carpenter To Co-Write New Joker Comic Book For DC
If you’ve been keeping up with the DC Universe at large lately, then you’ve heard about “Year of the Villain.” Long story short, this crossover event of sorts spilling out of the pages of Justice League began in a one-shot in early May, and sees Lex Luthor rounding up those he sees fit for his next big play. This initiative kicked into high gear this month, with cardstock variants signifying which titles are participating.

So, even if crossovers aren’t your thing, then you still may want to pick up the book we’re here to discuss today. The reason I say that is because legendary filmmaker John Carpenter is set to re-team with writer Anthony Burch for their first DC project together, that being The Joker: The Year of the Villain. Previously, they’d penned Big Trouble in Little China: Old Man Jack for Boom! Studios.

John Carpenter One-Shot Joker Comic Coming This Halloween from DC Comics
DC Comics has announced a new project with horror legend John Carpenter. The "Year of the Villain" event is reuniting Carpenter with Anthony Burch to write a one-off comic for The Joker. The Joker: Year of the Villain # 1 is a 40 page comic and it will hit the shops just in time for Halloween. "The Joker is the greatest villain in comics. I'm proud to be reunited with Anthony on this project," said Carpenter about the project. This sounds like it could be pretty amazing.

As for the storyline, John Carpenter and Anthony Burch are bringing in Lex Luthor too. In their story, Luthor is going out to recruit other DC villains, but The Joker likes to play by his own rules. This has been proven time and time again. The Clown Prince of Crime just cannot be trusted, even when he's hanging with other villains. You can read the official synopsis below.

Max Landis
Max Landis Accused of Sexual Harassment by Multiple Women
Max Landis
Bright screenwriter Max Landis has been in the news quite a bit lately. Bright is getting torn apart by critics, with one review even calling it a "giant pile of orc sh!t" and now the young screenwriter is being publicly accused of sexual assault. As it turns out, 32-year old Landis has been accused of sexual misconduct over the years, but nobody ever came out and said his name. It has been a pretty big "open" secret in Hollywood that Max Landis was up to some alleged disgusting behavior. Neither Max or his father John Landis have yet to respond to the public accusations.

Late last week on Twitter, one of the actresses from Max Landis' hit YouTube video Wrestling Isn't Wrestling accused the creator of sexual assault. The accusation came in response to a Netflix tweet promoting the recent release of their original movie Bright, which was penned by Landis.

John Carpenter to pen new Big Trouble In Little China comics series
Kirsten Howard Jun 22, 2017

Forget old man Logan, old man Jack is about to make a very welcome appearance in a new comics series co-written by John Carpenter.

We're big fans of John Carpenter's 80s cult classic Big Trouble In Little China around these parts (and pretty much every movie Kurt Russell's been in, to be fair) so we're delighted to hear that the director will be heavily involved in a brand new Jack Burton-flavoured comics series launching this September.

Newswire: John Carpenter is writing a new Big Trouble In Little China comics series
With every year, it seems less and less likely that John Carpenter will ever make another feature film. But at least he seems to be making the most out of his informal retirement by playing lots of video games, recording albums of sick music in the vein of his iconic film scores, raising money for indigenous rights, touring as a musician, and getting increasingly involved in comics. Carpenter will be co-writing the new Boom! Studios series with Anthony Burch, the lead writer of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!, and before that, the co-creator of the web series Hey ...

Author: Zehra Phelan

30 years after Big Trouble in Little China hit our screens which saw it become a cult classic with those who grew up during the 80’s its director, John Carpenter has jumped on board to co-write its sequel…. in the form of a comic.

Released in 1986, Big Trouble in Little China was one of those rare projects that never garnered a sequel, but along comes Boom studio’s who have decided to publish a comic book Big Trouble in Little China: Old Man Jack which will feature the film’s original character, Jack Burton who was played by Kurt Russell. For the last few years Boom have been releasing comic books that have covered Jack’s slightly zany adventures.

The new comic book will see Carpenter team up with Badlands 2 scribe Anthony Burch to write the story with Jorge Corona handling the illustration. The story which is...
