Biography

    • Chantelle was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to immigrant parents from the Philippines and South Korea. She knew she wanted to be an actor since the age of 4, after seeing Tia Carrere in Wayne's World - the first woman who looked remotely like her - on screen. After high school, she attended Mount Royal University's Theatre Performance program in Calgary, acquired an agent and started working steadily in theatre, film, television, and voiceover across the country. She became well known for her turn as Janet in the nation-wide tour of Soulpepper Theatre Company's runaway hit, Kim's Convenience. Since then, she has cut her teeth starring in multiple stage and screen roles earning her acting award nominations in both comedy and drama, recently winning Best Lead Performance in a Feature for thriller, Peppergrass (which she also co-directed) and a Stinger Award for Best Long Form Performance in the existential feature, Circle of Steel. She had recurring roles on British miniseries Departure (starring Christopher Plummer and Archie Panjabi), Netflix's hit zombie series Black Summer, and her second lead role in a feature film, Peppergrass, has just completed an international film festival circuit. Chantelle is an advocate for equitable representation, inclusion, and access in the Arts. She is also a theatre director and will be participating in the Langham Director's Workshop at the world-famous Stratford Shakespeare Festival this season.
