Renée Marie Petropoulos

Renée Marie Petropoulos, is an award-winning, Greek-Australian filmmaker from Sydney. Renée received her MFA in Directing at Columbia University, graduating in May 2017. Her graduating thesis film, 'Tangles and Knots' (2018), premiered at Berlinale 2018 Generation 14Plus Competition, followed by screenings at SXSW 2018 and numerous renowned festivals worldwide. The short was nominated for the 2018 AACTA Award for Best Short Fiction Film, the 2019 ADG Award for Best Direction in a Student Short Film and was awarded the Canon Award for Best Direction in an Australian Short Film at Flickerfest 2019 and Best Female Director Award at Hollyshorts Film Festival 2019. 'Tangles and Knots' premiered online as a Vimeo Staff Pick Premiere and now features on Short of the Week. Renée continues to push her cinematic practices, focusing on female-driven stories.
