Carl Jackson is a multi-hyphenate American actor, writer, producer, executive producer, and director, celebrated and known for creating inspiring and diverse film and television content for the global film industry and audiences around the world. He founded Carl Jackson Entertainment LLC, also known as Carl Jackson Studios, in 2002 and continues to lead the company, which encompasses film and television production, global theatrical releases, and television distribution. Carl has executive produced, produced, and directed a range of feature films, including the DOVE Foundation-approved Southern Girls with original music by Grammy-winner Phil Keaggy; Blissful Lies starring Emmy Award-winner Leann Hunley; Carl Jackson's The Jesus Freak (2017); Carl Jackson's LAX (2021); its sequel LAX 2 Paris (2023); Arthur and Bree (2026) The Wedding (2027) and the upcoming sci-fi action drama Virtual Time (2027).
In 2009, Carl Jackson entered into a multi-year production and distribution agreement with Bridgestone Multimedia Group. While creative differences brought the partnership to an early close, the experience led Carl to establish his own distribution and marketing division, Carl Jackson Motion Picture Studios, which launched with the release of Southern Girls. Building on that momentum, he later secured a television and film licensing deal with FOX-owned Tubi (2018-2023), a multi-year content partnership with Fawesome in 2024, and a 10-picture deal with Buffalo 8 / BondIt Media Capital in 2022, starting with the release of Love Solutions (2024).
Carl is in various stages of production on several projects, including Jones - a biopic of BET legend Dr. Bobby Jones, written by Laura Cayouette (Django Unchained); the holiday fantasy The Exceptional Santa Claus; the inspirational drama P31; and LAX: Holiday in New York, the third installment in the LAX film series. In television, he produced the limited series Forgiven for Tubi and later moved the series to Fawesome, starring horror icon Tuesday Knight from A Nightmare on Elm Street. Before transitioning to film and television, Carl directed music videos for top gospel artists like Angie Winans, Deitrick Haddon, The Rance Allen Group, and Vanessa Bell Armstrong. His work was featured in the WOW Gospel video compilations of 2003, 2005, and 2009. Carl's film trailers have frequently topped Apple Movie Trailers (now Apple TV +) charts: Strong Black Woman reached #10 in 2013, outperforming trailers for Fast & Furious 6, Man of Steel, and After Earth. In 2014, his documentary The Journey of L.A. Mass reached #1. P31 also hit #1 and remained a Top 20 family trailer throughout the pandemic. Both LAX 2 Paris and Love Solutions debuted at #2 on Apple TV and iTunes trailers. On July 19, 2013, Carl launched CJC - a 24-hour family-focused TV network featuring original series, films, and concert specials. In 2019, he introduced TheGrid, an urban-themed network. Both are accessible as over-the-air (OTA) and over-the-top (OTT) services on several platforms.
