‘The InBetween’ Canceled After One Season at NBC
NBC has canceled the summer drama series “The InBetween,” Variety has confirmed.

The show’s one and only season aired between May and August earlier this year. The series starred Harriet Dyer as Cassie, a woman who is able to see visions of the past and future as well as communicate with the dead. She uses her gifts to help her detective father solve a number of dark and puzzling murders.

‘The InBetween’ Canceled By NBC After One Season
NBC is closing the loop on its new spring-summer 2019 scripted series by cancelling freshman drama The InBetween.

The news is not surprising. The InBetween, starring Harriet Dyer, did not debut until after the end of the 2018-19 broadcast season. It was the lowest-rated NBC summer 2019 series in Live+Same Day ratings, something for which delayed viewing bumps could not compensate.

The InBetween‘s core creative team already has moved on to another project. In a competitive situation with multiple networks bidding, CBS in September landed with penalty Queens, a police drama from The InBetween creator/executive producer Moira Kirland, executive producer Matt Gross and studio Universal TV, where Gross is under an overall deal.

The InBetween joins NBC’s new midseason 2019 series, comedy Abby’s and dramas The Village and The Enemy Within, which also were canceled after one season.

The InBetween centered on Cassie Bedford (Dyer), who was born with a rare ability.

‘The InBetween’ Crime Drama Picked Up To Series By NBC, Will Recast A Role
NBC has picked up another drama pilot to series, character-driven procedural The InBetween (fka In Between Lives).

Heading into series, the project is reconnecting and recasting one of the male leads opposite star Harriet Dyer, played in the pilot by Yusef Gatewood. Additionally, we can officially reveal that Arrow’s Paul Blackthorne co-stars in the show. His casting in the pilot was kept under wraps in order not to spoil his character’s exit from Arrow.

The InBetween comes from writer Moira Kirland, Heyday Television — the joint venture of Harry Potter and Paddington producer David Heyman and NBCUniversal International Studios — and Universal Television. It joins four other newly picked NBC drama series, The Village, New Amsterdam and The Enemy Within — all from Universal TV — and Manifest from Warner Bros. TV.

Like The Village, The Between has been an early favorite at NBC — in fact, The Village and...
