But darned if it isn’t bursting with enough personality to charm you all the same.

When it came to Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment in Netflix’s Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, director Carl Franklin pictured a gritty fish tank filled with yellow-green algae and lifeless fish. He wanted to reach audiences on a visceral level, placing viewers in the notorious serial killer’s putrid living room from the victim’s perspective.

Peters sat in on a panel with co-stars Niecy Nash and Richard Jenkins and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story co-creator Ryan Murphy last Saturday, and during the panel it was revealed that Peters stayed in character for months while making the show.

Four months of prep and six months of shooting were required to bring Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story to the screen, and during that time Peters wore weights on his arms and lifts in his shoes to match the real Dahmer’s physicality and did extensive research to get his dialect right. Held back from critics, presumably so that co-creator Ryan Murphy could protect the viewing experience for audiences without access to Wikipedia, recent television or semi-recent history, Netflix’s Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is an infuriating hodgepodge. (That’s the last time I’m going to use that full idiotic title, one of several things Netflix brass should have had the wherewithal to prevent.)

One can appreciate the performers in Dahmer — Richard Jenkins and Niecy Nash in particular; Evan Peters despite an excess of familiarity in his turn — and respect that Murphy and co-creator Ian Brennan have tangible and meaningful things to say here, while also feeling that the 10-episode series is haphazardly structured, never finds a happy medium between exploration and expectation, and probably would never have existed if adulation for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story had been more universal.

Malachi Kirby (Small Axe, Roots) will be pulling double duty in Amazon Prime’s Anansi Boys series adaptation from writer/executive producer Neil Gaiman, our sister site Variety reports.

Exclusive: Evan Peters, one of Ryan Murphy’s go-to actors, is set as the title character in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, a Netflix limited series co-created by longtime collaborators Murphy and Ian Brennan, Deadline has learned. Another actor from the Ryan Murphy TV universe, Niecy Nash, is set to star in the seres, which also has cast Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun J. Brown and Colin Ford, sources said. They join previously announced Richard Jenkins. Netflix declined comment.

“Future Man” has been renewed for a third and final season, Hulu said Tuesday. The show’s concluding season will be 8 episodes, down from 13 in previous seasons.

The sci-fi comedy stars Josh Hutcherson as a socially inept janitor and world-ranked gamer recruited by time-traveling soldiers to help save the world after he wins an unbeatable game called Cybergeddon. Eliza Coupe and Derek Wilson co-star, with Haley Joel Osment, Glenne Headly, Ed Begley Jr., Robert Craighead, Sara Amini and Shaun J. Brown rounding out the cast.

Created by Kyle Hunter, Ariel Shaffir, and Howard Overman, with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg serving as executive producers, “Future Man” came to Hulu from Sony Pictures Television, Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures, Matt Tolmach Productions, and Hutcherson’s production company, Turkeyfoot.

The renewal comes three months after Season 2 debuted on Hulu on January 11.

This is premiering at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival next week. Harrelson plays a "lonely, neurotic and hilariously honest middle-aged man reunites with his estranged wife and meets his teenage daughter for the first time." The fact that CBS’s newest comedy, The Great Indoors, airs after the network’s longest-running, mega-hit The Big Bang Theory bodes well for the freshman comedy’s potential to gain some kind of an audience. It’s stocked with fine actors from a collection of other well-known shows and movies, it’s got a decent workplace comedy premise, and series creator Mike Gibbons (Tosh.0) at least knows how to wrangle together the show’s quirky cast into something resembling a neighborhood in the vicinity of charming.

Yet, it’s an effort to make it through just the 20-minute pilot. Many listable reasons throw themselves onto the rails that is the eventual train wreck of The Great Indoors, all acceptable excuses for changing the channel until Mom comes on, or maybe just turning off the TV completely and discovering these mythical “outdoors” that...
