Brit Zom-Com Zomblogalypse Realeases on US and Canadian Streaming Platforms: "Brit Zom Com Zomblogalypse gets its US and Canada streaming premiere on Tuesday May 24th when it releases on US streaming platforms. The raucously funny film, based on the cult web series and shot in the UK, is being released by High Octane Pictures and will be available to purchase or rent on US platforms such as iTunes, Amazon, Google, YouTube Tvod, Vudu and more.

The movie follows the adventures of three anti-heroes Hannah, Miles and Tony as they chronicle their time together as decade-long zombie apocalypse survivors. Ten years in and quite bored, the trio decide to make a movie, using real zombies as the monsters and recruiting a bunch of beleaguered survivors as the film crew.

Things unsurprisingly don’t go to plan as the zombies chomp through the cast and crew, with hilariously gory consequences. The film...

Dead Northern Film Festival: ‘Zomblogalypse’ Review
Image
Stars: Miles Watts, Tony Hipwell, Hannah Bungard, Alan Melikdjanian, Joanne Mitchell, Andrew Dunn, Andrina Carroll, Lyndsey Craine, Victoria Delaney, Peet Torjussen, Gemma-Louise Keane, Jennifer Jordan | Written and Directed by Miles Watts, Tony Hipwell, Hannah Bungard

Zomblogalypse began life as a series of fifteen-minute episodes that ran on YouTube from 2008 to 2011. The tale of Miles (Miles Watts), Tony (Tony Hipwell) and Hannah (Hannah Bungard) three survivors blogging their way through the zombie apocalypse developed a cult following. The trio moved on to other projects before coming back to launching the feature version of Zomblogalypse in 2018.

After ten years of dodging zombies, Miles, Tony and Hannah are bored. Very, very, bored. Even a botched outing to find supplies doesn’t dispel that feeling for long. So what can they do to pass the time? Find any other survivors in the area, and make a movie about surviving the zombie apocalypse.

As much...

Nxne expands to include film
Toronto’s North By Northeast (Nxne) is expanding its film festival programing beyond music-themed movies to include films of all genres.

Nxne Film top brass revealed (23) the initial line-up, which includes the world premiere of the Canadian film Luck’s Hard (pictured) from directors Dave Brown and Daniel Williams.

The roster also features North American premieres for silent film La Voz De Los Silenciados (The Voice Of The Voiceless) by Maximon Monihan and horror-comedy Whoops! from Tony Hipwell and Miles Watts.

“Being the 20th Anniversary of Nxne and the 14th year for our festival, we wanted to broaden our horizons this year and add features which are not necessarily about music,” said Nxne Film programmer Cameron Carpenter.

The film festival runs from June 13-15. To view the full line-up click here.

Julian Assange on Raindance jury
WikiLeaks founder to judge films at the 21st Raindance Film Festival; 2013 line-up unveiled.Scroll down for full line-up of films

Julian Assange has joined the jury of the 21st Raindance Film Festival (Sept 25 - Oct 6), a London-based event that celebrates independent film in the UK and around the world.

The appointment is a controversial one. The Australian editor-in-chief and founder of WikiLeaks took refuge in the Ecuadorean embassy in London in June 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning about sexual assault allegations.

It is understood that he fears Sweden would extradite him to the Us, where he believes he is wanted in relation to WikiLeaks’ disclosure of a significant amount of classified Us military and diplomatic documents.

Commenting on Assange’s appointment, Raindance founder Elliot Grove said: “Every year Raindance invites interesting people to join our jury. In the past we have had musicians like Mick Jones, Marky Ramone and [link...

Interview: Miles Watts, Co-Writer/Director of Whoops!
You might not have heard of Whoops!, the new film from York-based production company MilesTone Films. But if you went to the Edinburgh Film Festival a couple of years ago you might have attended a screening of CrimeFighters, their micro-budget noir superhero flick, and if you’re any kind of web series follower you’ll no doubt have come across the irreverent and hilarious Zomblogalypse, the company’s flagship work – and soon to be awarded the feature film treatment come 2013. If you’ve listened very closely you may even have heard tell of a little movie called Amber, MilesTone’s other new film, yet to be released.

These filmmakers certainly couldn’t be accused of resting on their laurels, having championed the spirit of local, ultra-independent productions and getting some pretty good reviews in the process. Whoops! looks set to be one of their biggest successes – and with a significantly...

2010 Arizona Underground Film Festival: Official Lineup
Tucson and Phoenix: Prepare to be rocked, shocked and defiled. Blasting its way into its third — and biggest — year on Sept. 18-25, the Arizona Underground Film Festival is a cacophonous concoction of angry transsexuals, bumbling hit men, slacker superheroes, living dolls, aliens, dead hookers, adventure-seeking blondes and other crazies.

This year the fest is screening 30 feature films, some of which are making their U.S. and even world debuts. The opening night film is the U.S. premiere of the German hit man comedy Snowman’s Land, directed by Tomasz Thomson, while closing the fest is the controversial and violent A Serbian Film by Srdjan Spasojevic, which you have to be over-18 to get into.

Don’t worry, there’s plenty of homebrewed films as well, such as Dead Hooker in a Trunk by Jen Soska & Sylvia Soska; Nude Nuns With Big Guns by Joseph Guzman; 1,001 Ways to Enjoy the...

This week's new film releases
Shrek Forever After (U)

(Mike Mitchell, 2010, Us)

Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy. 93 mins.

Like us, Shrek yearns for the good old days here, and – somewhat tellingly – the premise finds the green ogre trying to regain his former fearsome edge. Instead, he gets tricked into an alternate reality where he basically has to re-enact the first film all over again. In some ways, such familiarity is a strength as much as a weakness, and it's nice to see these characters again. Compared to the Toy Story trilogy, though, Shrek is merely The Flintstones to Pixar's Simpsons; fun enough, but really no match.

White Material (15)

(Claire Denis, 2009, Fra/Cam)

Isabelle Huppert, Christopher Lambert, Isaach De Bankolé. 106 mins.

After the touchy-feely 35 Shots Of Rum, Denis switches to stronger medicine with a sparse evocation of wartorn west Africa. Huppert is a defiant colonial matriarch striving to keep her family and plantation together.

CrimeFighters (Nc)

(Miles Watts,...

Eiff 2010: Review of Crimefighters
Year: 2010

Directors: Miles Watts

Writers: Miles Watts

IMDb: link

Trailer: link

Review by: projectcyclops

Rating: 3 out of 10

It’s difficult to throw too much criticism at a film like CrimeFighters. (although I’m not going to hold back!) While on one hand it’s a film that had absolutely no place in the Eiff line-up, being as it is a super low-budget, badly acted, poorly written and painfully amateur home-made film, but on the other hand it shows some promise and is actually kind of charming in an odd way. The film concerns three geeky friends who hang-out at their local pub and - facing an inexplicable crime wave in their town of York - decide to don masks, costumes and train in Karate to combat the rise in street violence as vigilante heroes: The CrimeFighters.

Ella, Phillip and Daisy meet every night in the pub for a few drinks.
