Biography

    • Carrie Schrader (she/her) is a screenwriter and director known for grounded, witty dramas and dramedies with a subversive edge. She co-directed an award-winning short film, "Don't Mess With Texas," written by Ethan Coen (of the Coen Brothers), directed the Netflix commercial "Battdad: Battle For Bedtime" and co-wrote/directed the feature-length documentary, "The Founders" (Amazon, Peacock). She currently works as a writer on multiple feature film contracts and was just hired to write a one-hour drama pilot for A Really Good Home Pictures ("Unstoppable" with Ben Affleck/JLo). Her short films and screenplays have won international film festival audience awards, and she was named one of the "Top Ten Directors To Watch Out For" by IndieWire.com. Her work has received acclaim from IFP New York, Outfest Screenwriting Lab, Sundance Table Read, and the Austin Film Festival. She just produced several projects with Rainbow Hands Productions - directing "The Thing I Want To Say" by Maria Nglio and producing "Missing While Black" by Chris Anthony Hamilton. She is the actress/creator of the #nicewhitemom videos, which take a satirical look at how white women perpetuate racism. Carrie has a BA in Theater and a very expensive but surprisingly useful MFA in directing from Columbia University and will be forever proud of her early days as a theater nerd.
