Despite starring the incredible and timeless Sean Connery in the film, the original Highlander was a terrible attempt at establishing a high-concept project in the mid-80s. Even for a fantasy epic, the film was decidedly too far-fetched, not to mention problematic and culturally inappropriate in hindsight.

As the industry now calls for a timely reboot helmed by none other than Henry Cavill, the misjudged, misrepresented, and ill-treated hero of modern Hollywood, it is only fitting that the film is done right the second time around. Highlander has the potential to be great, even a modern-day classic perhaps, but only if it learns from the errors of its past and lays down a path paved with proper representation in the future.
