One of the best elements of the horror genre is not just the actual frights and scares that audiences get from the kills and suspense, it's also when there's a plot twist that no one saw coming.

Sometimes, these surprises work extremely well. For example, when John Kramer rises from the dead in 2004's Saw, or when the hag-like creature appears in Barbarian from 2022. They were great plot twists that we never saw coming. However, despite the best intentions of all involved, there are many horror movies with a plot twist that's so obvious, that when it happens it's a let-down rather than a horrific shock.

Fallout stars Ella Purnell as Lucy, a Vault Dweller in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles. Purnell previously starred as Kate in Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead on Netflix. Purnell's role in the post-apocalyptic film Army of the Dead helped her prepare for her protagonist role in Fallout.

The Amazon Prime show Fallout revolves around Ella Purnell's character, and the actress' previous film undoubtedly helped her prepare for the role. The post-apocalyptic drama series, created by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, is based on the popular role-playing video game franchise of the same name, but Fallout's timeline is separate from the games. The show introduces a new story to this already-established universe by taking place in 2296, almost ten years after the last game, depicting a new character — Lucy MacLean, played by Purnell —a Vault Dweller who leaves her home and ventures into the Wasteland of Los Angeles.

Fresh off Netflix’s hit “Wednesday,” Christina Ricci is starring in the upcoming sci-fi movie The Dresden Sun, and Deadline has shared the above first-look image this afternoon.

Vmi Worldwide has boarded worldwide sales on the film, Deadline also notes.

The film follows a heist that goes south when a brilliant, principled mercenary (Ogg) with a traumatic history works with an insider to steal a prized commodity called “the sphere” from Peredor Corporation and Dr. Dresden (Ricci).

Above is a first look at Ricci who is coming off Netflix hit Wednesday and Showtime series Yellowjackets.

Penned and directed by Michael Ryan, the film is produced by Tyler Lockamy and Michael Ryan at Archetype Pictures.

The sales deal was negotiated by Jessica Bennett, COO Productions and Acquisitions for Vmi, and Michael Ryan and Tyler Lockamy on the producing side.

The film is currently in post-production. Vmi will be introducing the project to buyers at the upcoming EFM.

Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead took first place in the inaugural #OscarsFanFavorite contest, put on by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to showcase more popular movies and announced Sunday during the Oscar telecast.

The competition, kicked off in a year when the Oscars’ theme is “Movie Lovers Unite,” was undertaken via votes on Twitter.

Army of the Dead, which streamed on Netflix, finished first in the fan voting, followed in order by Amazon’s Cinderella, American International Pictures’ Johnny Depp-starrer Minamata, box office record-breaker Spider-Man: No Way Home from Sony and Netflix’s Tick, Tick…Boom!.

The winner of the prize does not win an Oscar, but Academy and Oscarcast producers have been trying to find a way to inject more known movies into the show, which has seen declining TV ratings.

An Army of the Dead Easter egg has been discovered that seemingly connects the movie to Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake. At the very least, it seems to tip its cap to Snyder's feature directorial debut, which was a remake of George A. Romero's zombie classic of the same name. The hidden detail does beg the question; "do these movies exist in the same universe?"

The Easter egg in question was shared by the Movies That Maher Twitter account recently. In it, we see a news article on someone's phone that contains new information regarding a zombie outbreak that happened in Wisconsin back in 2004. Specifically Milwaukee. As it just so happens, that's where Dawn Of The Dead remake, which was released back in 2004 and presumably takes place that same year, was set. Accompanied with a screenshot of the moment from Army of the Dead, the post reads as follows.

Zack Snyder's highly anticipated zombie film Army of the Dead features a large cast, including comedian Tig Notaro. Notaro replaced Chris D'elia after a series of sexual harassment scandals came out against the comedian. Notaro has an important role in the story, and both Netflix and Snyder spent millions of dollars to replace D'elia with her in the film.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Zack Snyder and his wife, Deborah Snyder, stated that replacing D'elia in the zombie film was a "fairly easy" decision. However, it ended up being quite an expensive decision. Snyder did reshoots with Notaro and digitally added her into the film.

Netflix spent at least “a few million” dollars to reshoot Chris D’Elia’s Army of the Dead role in the wake of accusations made against him, according to filmmakers Zack and Deborah Snyder.

In a Vanity Fair interview published on Friday, the Snyders spoke about the decision to have actor-comedian Tig Notaro take over D’Elia’s helicopter pilot part. They also broke down the challenging process of inserting her into a film that had long ago been shot without any other cast members present.

Recently, reports started making the rounds suggesting that director Zack Snyder banned chairs from the set of his latest movie Army of the Dead. It was particularly believable, given that the filmmaker made the reveal himself. But one star from the Netflix zombie flick has added some important clarification to the matter.

Zack Snyder has been making the rounds in the press as of late to promote Army of the Dead. During a recent appearance on The Fourth Wall podcast, the filmmaker explained that he banned chairs from the set, which helped to create, in his words, an intimate experience. The first reviews for Netflix's Army of the Dead are in, so has director Zack Snyder managed to reinvent the zombie genre as he had hoped, or is the movie just another patchwork quilt of slow-motion sequences and nonsensical plot devices? Well, the movie currently holds a 77% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes thus far, Snyder's highest ever score, so perhaps Army of the Dead will be worth a trip to zombie-infested Vegas after all.

Critic Owen Gleiberman from Variety thoroughly enjoyed the popcorn thrills of Army of the Dead, believing that there is more than enough going on to satisfy everyone.

The U.S. government has managed to contain the outbreak by building walls, but there’s a load of cash locked up in a zombie-infested Las Vegas casino for anyone who’s willing to risk his or her life to get it.
