Damien Sage was born March 9th, 1985 in Raleigh North Carolina. His
parents divorced when he was five, leaving him in the care of his
paternal grandparents. Damien was an outgoing child who excelled in
school, in fact he was quite the "nerd". Damien has always been a
natural entertainer, doing impersonations and dramatic performances
from a very young age.
At age 9 Damien began going through a rough patch in his life. There were a lot of troubles in his family, he gained a lot of weight and became very withdrawn, thus retreating into the world of movies. Damien started his massive collection of films around this time. But Damien didn't just watch and buy movies, he studied them, meticulously. From that early age Damien was smitten with R-Rated films, in particular cheesy 70s and 80s B-Films and horror flicks. As Damien got older his tastes broadened exponentially.
At age 13 Damien got his first camera, a gigantic VHS clunker. His original aspirations in life were to be an architect, but the moment he held that camera in his hands he knew films were his true calling. Damien began making very ambitious short films, expanding his talents and skills with each one. He would edit the films using the "old two VCR's trick." Damien even had a mild "hit" series called "Star Trek: The Merde Generation" starring action figures, voiced by Damien.
After suffering social phobia and panic attacks throughout his teenage years (so bad in fact he could not attend school, he was home bound, practically teaching himself) Damien graduated High School with honors. He had only enough money saved to attend one year of college, so instead he bought himself a computer, a digital video camera and some editing software. At age 18, a scant month after his equipment purchases, Damien was enlisted to direct an extremely low budgeted dramatic film called "Temptation." The film was plagued with problems and ended up being a disaster.
Even being the only person on the film to receive any praise for his involvement, Damien still felt horrible about the experience and vowed not to mount another feature until he had honed his cinematic skills to perfection. So, for the next 4 years of his life, Damien did just that. He did numerous short works, across all genres, the short suspense thriller "D.O.D." (acclaimed by filmmakers Sean S. Cunningham and Mike Hodges) and a well received music video for the band "Rip/Torn".
Now armed with a rag tag group of talented young production associates, and his good friends "Rip/Torn" Damien has decided to head forth back into the realm of feature films to achieve his life long dream of creating stylish, entertaining, well crafted cinematic experiences for the masses.
