Biography

Doran Danoff is an independent pop artist, singer, songwriter, film composer and arranger. He is is the son of world famous Yemenite-Israeli folk-pop singer Hedva Amrani and had a musical upbringing rich in the heritage of his family's Yemenite-Israeli culture. Growing up in Los Angeles he fused his Middle-Eastern roots with the influences of urban L.A. culture and the sounds and styles of American music. A self-taught jazz and blues pianist, he began his career playing in local underground bands in L.A. and developed a mastery of a vast array of genres from classical to hip-hop. Eventually landing in NYC, Doran studied composition at Columbia University and received his graduate degree from NYU in Composition and Film Scoring. Following his studies Doran began his career as a film composer with a skill for multi-genre composition and writing. At the same time he gained fans worldwide as a singer, songwriter and bandleader for his original music. He has been featured nationally on radio and television and has collaborated with major and indie artists including Cage The Elephant, Hollis Brown, John West (Island/Def Jam), David Poe, Bryan Greenberg, Matt White, Sahara Smith, ZZ Ward, Leslie Stevens, among many others. His award-winning work for film has been in festivals and theaters throughout the world, including many of his original songs for films. He continues to work in all aspects of the music industry as a songwriter, performer, composer and owner of music production company Rarely Beagle.
