Image
King of the Hill, created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, is a slice-of-life adult animated series featuring the Hill family, their friends, and neighbors. Set in the fictional town of Arlen, the show finds humor in the quirks of everyday life, capturing blue-collar struggles, family conflicts, and the awkward trials of growing up.

Despite delivering some of the best episodes, King of the Hill was cancelled in 2008 (via Fox News). New episodes continued to air through 2009, with a few additional ones released in 2010. Fortunately, it was renewed for Season 14, which premiered on Hulu on August 4, 2025. If you binged through the show and are looking for more, here is a list of 5 similar animated shows to add to your next binge list.

Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2 TV Review: Seth Rogen’s latest satirical food fight could give you indigestion
Image
Plot: Exiled from home, Frank, Barry, and Sammy soon find themselves in New Foodland, a shining utopia for food and humans alike. But beneath the city’s glossy fridges and cheery smiles lies a dark secret threatening the sentient food society.

Review: Sausage Party: Foodtopia is a deceptive serving of entertainment. On one hand, it’s raunchy, low-brow, and immature. On the other hand, it’s a subversive, clever, and winking satire that goes down like a steaming forkful of humble pie. It stands at a crossroads between “I’m so glad this exists” and “What the f**k am I watching?” You’re either prepared to buy the ticket and take the ride, or there’s no sense in attending the barbecue. The second season of Sausage Party: Foodtopia is a trail mix of quality, and like any other bag of this unruly snack, there are ingredients I...

Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2 Review — Offers Downright Filthy Fun and Big Belly Laughs
Image
Yes, the first season of Sausage Party: Foodtopia can feel like reheated leftovers from the filthy minds of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. I mean, what did you expect from the creatives who brought us Superbad, Pineapple Express, Good Boys, and one of the best animated films of the decade, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem?

Heck, now that these two have created Apple TV+’s brilliant and critically acclaimed The Studio, maybe the naysayers will get off their pedestals and embrace a series that wants to make you laugh—and has a smarter political view than most are willing to admit. Albeit, a downright filthy, humorous, and slant that may be hard to digest.

Paradise is lost when food goes to war in the epic trailer for Seth Rogen’s Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2

Seth Rogen’s Raucous Adult Animated Comedy Serves Up a Piping Hot Season 2 Trailer
Image
Nearly a decade ago, when the adult-animated comedy flick Sausage Party jumped off the shelves and into cinemas, it’s unclear whether the minds behind it had any idea of just how popular it would become. Now, heading into its sophomore installment, today marks the debut of the long-awaited trailer for Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2. With favorites like Rogen, Michael Cera, Edward Norton, and Will Forte returning to voice their characters Frank, Barry, Sammy Bagel Jr., and Jack, respectively, the next fresh batch of piping-hot episodes will also feature plenty of new celebrity voices as the boys strike out on their latest adventure.

Things aren’t looking so great for Frank at the beginning of today’s trailer. He’s still (understandably) grieving the tragic loss of his beloved...

Matt Cornett on ‘Summer of 69’ and Growing Out of Teen Roles
Image
In Summer of 69, Matt Cornett plays the object of protagonist Abby’s affection, Max.

For Cornett, joining the film was a no brainer, largely in part to its first-time director – actress and filmmaker Jillian Bell. “She has such a warming and calming presence,” the 26-year-old actor tells The Hollywood Reporter about Bell on a Zoom from the trailer of his current project. “You feel so immediately invited in to just create and have fun, and with her specifically, there was never a moment where I didn’t feel like I could try something.”

While Summer of 69 is firmly in the teen movie category, the former High School Musical: The Musical: The Series actor is personally in a bit of a transition period between high school roles and what’s to come next. However, he jokes that as long as he can keep himself “feeling young,” he’ll be able to play high school.

‘SNL’ Star Chloe Fineman on Playing a Stripper for ‘Summer of 69’ and Finding Time for Films
Image
Chloe Fineman did not take lightly her decision to tackle the role of sex worker Santa Monica in the Hulu movie Summer of 69.

The Saturday Night Live standout stars opposite Sam Morelos in the comedy feature from director and co-star Jillian Bell that is currently streaming. Fineman did extensive research for the film that centers on teen Abby (Morelos), who enlists Fineman’s stripper character to help her become more sexually enlightened in order to win over her high school crush.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Fineman discusses her random encounter with a stripper who ended up working on the movie, how her preparation for the role led to Lindsay Lohan offering her a part in the Freaky Friday sequel and how she feels when SNL deals with controversy.

Chloe Fineman's Critically Acclaimed Comedy Is Rocking The Hulu Charts
Image
If you've been wondering what happened to comedies, they're over on Hulu, apparently. Indeed, it's been a long time since Judd Apatow-style comedy blockbusters ruled the box office, and since studios seemingly abandoned the genre, the indie arthouse world has picked up some of the slack. Otherwise, we've had streaming comedies, which if you take a look at something like Kevin Hart's heist comedy "Lift," which topped Netflix in 2024, haven't exactly been carrying the torch all that well.

Now, "Saturday Night Live" star Chloe Fineman and director Jillian Bell have provided us all with hope in the form of their new movie "Summer of 69." Bell's directorial debut is a coming-of-age teen comedy that stars Fineman as exotic dancer Santa Monica, alongside Sam Morelos ("That 90s Show") as awkward high school senior Abby Flores. Abby has had a crush on fellow high schooler Max Warren (Matt Cornett) for years,...

'Summer of 69' Director Explains Title Meaning and Possible Misunderstanding
Image
When you hear the words "summer of 69," what comes to mind? Maybe it's Bryan Adams' classic song from 1984. If not, at least the year might pop into your historical brain, given its monumental nature. Remember when we landed on the moon, hint hint? For the more mature audiences, "69" might illicit an entirely different response, like how Adam Sandler laughed upon hearing a certain page number in Billy Madison (1995). Two decades later, fellow comedian Jillian Bell finds a certain thrill in the number as well, as it represents an infamous sex position, of course. In fact, her new Hulu movie — and feature directorial debut — is literally titled Summer of 69. MovieWeb recently caught up with her to learn more about her high school-centered project, and how she feels about viewers potentially tuning in thinking that the title represents something else entirely.

"I was thinking about that the other day.

‘Summer of 69’ Review: Ecstatically Funny Teen Sex Comedy Deserves Better Than Hulu Streaming
Image
Jillian Bell’s directorial debut is a drop-dead funny “Risky Business” riff that would have killed in theaters

Some movies feel like they sprang organically from the hearts and souls of their creators. Others, like Jillian Bell’s directorial debut “Summer of 69,” seem to have been reverse-engineered from a clever title. I can’t say for sure that Bell and/or her co-writers Liz Nico and Jules Byrne came up with the idea for a movie about a teen girl hiring a sex worker to teach her how to “69” her prospective boyfriend by working backwards from the phrase “Summer of 69.” But I can say that if they just happened to come up with a 69-centric comedy premise, it sure was kismet that the words “Summer of 69” were already out there, even if the movie really is more of a late spring affair.

“Summer of 69” stars Sam Morelos as Abby Flores,...

‘Summer of 69’ Cast and Character Guide: Who’s Who in Jillian Bell’s Directorial Debut?

Sure, you could turn to the internet for sexual education — or you could hire a stripper to teach you. And the latter is the choice that Abby makes in “Summer of 69.”

Now streaming on Hulu and marking the directorial debut of Jillian Bell — who also co-wrote the script — “Summer of 69” centers on an awkward high school senior who hires an exotic dancer to help seduce her longtime crush before graduation.

Along the way, the women develop their own odd friendship, and learn a bit about self-confidence, acceptance, and adulthood. And they do all this while surrounded by some familiar faces.

Here’s who you’ll need to know.

Summer of 69 Review — Jillian Bell’s Comedy Drama is Surprisingly Heartfelt
Image
An awkward teenager tries to become cool by hiring a stripper to teach her how to “69” with a boy she likes in Summer of 69. Jillian Bell’s directorial debut sports a funny premise and is able to follow up, thanks to two lovely performances from SNL‘s Chloe Fineman and newcomer Sam Morelos.

Summer of 69 Review

Abby Flores (Morelos) is a nerdy and closed-off teenager looking to celebrate the only chance she might have to do the devil’s tango with resident hot guy Max (Matt Cornett). In order to build up her confidence, she hires a down-on-her-luck stripper, Santa Monica (Fineman), to teach her the ins and outs of sexual confidence.

The premise is fun and allows us to experience a new type of Superbad-style sex comedy for the first half. Abby and Santa Monica are obviously polar opposites, with their ridiculous dynamic providing laughs for the first bit of the film.

‘Summer of 69’ Review: Chloe Fineman Plays a Sexual Mentor in a Teen Comedy That’s More Sweet Than Spicy
Image
Like many teenagers staring down their final days of high school, Abby (Sam Morelos), the protagonist of Jillian Bell’s more-heartfelt-than-bawdy new comedy Summer of 69, would like to have sex before she graduates.

When she learns that her crush Max (Matt Cornett), a tall, dark-haired soccer player, is newly single, the reserved online gamer resolves to sleep with him. Abby has had a crush on Max since she met him at their tony Catholic school in Syracuse, New York, and now, more than a decade later, she thinks she might have a chance. There’s only one problem: Abby lacks the sexual experience to make a move.

Following in the footsteps of Seth and Evan in Superbad and Pj and Josie in Bottoms, Abby executes an ill-conceived plan to get laid. In a move reminiscent of Percy’s parents in No Hard Feelings, the teen hires a dancer (Chloe Fineman...

Summer of 69 Review: Jillian Bell’s Bold Directorial Debut
Image
Summer of 69 marks comedian‑actor Jillian Bell’s feature directorial debut, co‑written with Liz Nico and Jules Byrne. From the first frame, Bell sketches a vivid suburban playground where streaming shorthand meets teenage longing: Abby Flores (Sam Morelos) is a gaming phenom on Glitch but an emotional novice in real life.

When her longtime crush Max (Matt Cornett) becomes single, Abby overhears his preferred bedroom maneuver and enlists Santa Monica (Chloe Fineman), a pole‑dancer fighting for her club’s survival, to teach her the “art” of mutual pleasure in just one intense week.

Narratively, the film uses tight pacing—rapid‑cut montages, a musical‑number prologue, and surreal daydream interludes—to mirror Abby’s rush from online isolation to flesh‑and‑blood confidence. Bell’s direction balances wit and warmth: sight gags (haunted‑house dildo horror), vintage car cool, and genuine moments of mentorship that puncture the raunch.

Summer of 69 Review: Jillian Bell’s directorial debut is a funny and sincere coming-of-age sex comedy
Image
Plot: An awkward high school senior hires an exotic dancer to help seduce her longtime crush before graduation, leading to unexpected friendship and lessons in self-confidence, acceptance and adulthood.

Review: The sex comedy has long been the domain of male-centric stories. In the early 2000s, there was a shift to telling more female-led comedies that used nudity and graphic content to show that women could be just as nasty as men. While it has been a while since a solid R-rated comedy has done well on the big screen, several independent films have been snatched up by streaming platforms to pad their libraries. The latest addition to Hulu’s slate is one of the more substantive efforts and comes from actress Jillian Bell, making her feature directorial debut. Summer of 69 starts with a tone and approach that makes it seem in line with films like The Girl Next Door or...

‘Summer of 69’ Review: Jillian Bell’s Far-Fetched Feature Debut Pairs a Stripper With a High School Student
Image
In the summer of 1969, a sensitive, X-rated studio movie called “Midnight Cowboy” proved a box office surprise, upending norms when it won best picture at the Oscars. Flash-forward to this year, and the screwball Stripperella comedy “Anora” unexpectedly repeated that coup, demonstrating once again that the industry is capable of looking beyond stereotypes where sex workers are concerned.

Now comes “Summer of 69,” a risqué coming-of-age movie that manages to be both retrograde and refreshing in its portrayal of an awkward Catholic school student (Sam Morelos) who hires an inspirational pole dancer (Chloe Fineman) to help boost her confidence in the “bedroom department.” It’s a throwback to decades of raunchy-sweet sex comedies, from “No Hard Feelings” to “The Girl Next Door,” while also being somewhat progressive in that this time, it’s a girl who’s taking charge.

The problem — and hardly an insignificant one — is that however funny...

‘Summer of 69’ Review: Chloe Fineman Plays A Stripper Who Teaches Sam Morelos To Land The Guy Of Her Dreams — SXSW
Image
Comedian, actress and screenwriter Jillian Bell makes her feature directorial debut with a hilarious tribute to classic teen films, presented through the female gaze.

In Summer of 69, Sam Morelos plays sexually inexperienced teen Abby Flores, who spends her time earning bank on a video game streaming platform called Glitch. When she finds out her lifelong crush Max (Matt Cornett) is finally single and overhears his favorite sexual position, she enlists the help of the bold, enterprising exotic dancer Santa Monica (Chloe Fineman) to teach her how to master her sexuality in a week, before they graduate and go separate ways.

What ensues is a modern sex romp with classic teen movie stakes. Not only does the film speak to beloved titles of decades past, but it mirrors the hilariously awkward first times and cringe tribulations of coming-of-age, especially for young women.

Bell nails her directorial debut with an assist from Fineman,...
