Is Metacritic's Worst-Rated 2024 Movie Worth Watching For Free?
Image
For those who decided that studio flicks like "Madame Web" or "Rebel Moon" were among the worst film of 2024, do I have some good news for you: they weren't even close. Some brave critics, or even braver explorers of the deep trenches of 2024's cinematic offerings may have much more dire stories for you, telling tales of Neil Marshall's dumb actioner "The Duchess," or Sean McNamara's embarrassing deification of Ronald Reagan in "Reagan." Have you even heard of the Nick Frost horror sitcom spoof "Krazy House," or the Netflix Biblical drama "Mary"?

The above-mentioned films all have one thing in common: they were voted among the ten worst films of the year, as gauged by Metacritic. Metacritic, for those who don't visit the website, is a film review aggregator. The site gathers together multiple professionally written reviews and boils each one down to a score of one to...

'Lumina' Is the Worst Reviewed Film of 2024 by Metacritic
Image
"There are bad movies, there are really bad movies, and then there’s Lumina," writes film critic Brian Tallerico for RogerEbert.com in his 0-star review, just one of many critiques of what may be the worst film of 2024. The sci-fi movie Lumina ostensibly follows Alex and his friends after flashes of bright lights lead to the disappearance of Alex's girlfriend. The group journeys through the desert and an underground military base, realizing that they're getting closer to a big alien conspiracy. Of course, it's difficult to parse this out from the incoherent filmmaking.

Tallerico continued in his review of Lumina, saying, "[It's] a film so breathtaking in its overall incompetence that one starts to wonder if it’s not intentionally so in the hope of being the next The Room or Birdemic. How else to explain some of the laughable shot choices, inconsistent characters, nonsensical plotting, and dialogue that sounds...

Lumina Review: This Brazenly Absurd Science Fiction Thriller Is One Of The Worst Movies Of The Year
Image
The story in Lumina is bizarre and incoherent, with missing scenes and poor CGI. The editing is terrible, with excessive Adr and a disappointing quality overall. Despite catchy music, Lumina falls short with unpolished visuals and unresolved plot points.

There's a character in Gino McKoy's second feature film, Lumina (2024) , who is meant to serve as comic relief, as indicated by his bucket hat, square glasses, and Alice-like love of descending internet rabbit holes. Unfortunately, George (Ken Lawson) is not funny, and yet I found myself laughing often throughout the first two-thirds of this science fiction horror film. About every 20 minutes in this overlong film, something so absurd and garbled occurs that it snatches an honest belly laugh.

New Lumina Teaser Features Alien Abduction Stories Like Those in the Film
Image
Lumina, a film that follows the dream-like journey of a group of friends trying to find one of their own who disappeared suddenly after spaceships appeared outside their home, takes its inspiration from many real-life extraterrestrial experiences. Alien abductions, Area 51, government conspiracies — it’s all a part of the story of Patricia, Delilah, and George as they help Alex search for his beloved Tatiana who disappeared into the night sky.

The latest promotional clip for Lumina features the supposed “real testimonies of alien abductees” like Tatiana, who often are taken multiple times. In the film, which releases on July 12, 2024, none of the friends who join the search party are sure what to think. Why was Tatiana taken? How much does her family know? And why is Alex so convinced that she’s still alive and in need of their help?

The official Lumina synopsis tells of a story following “four...

Endeavour delivers its most unusual case yet, in an emotionally satisfying episode that's rewarding for long-time Morse viewers...

This review contains spoilers.

3.3 Prey

When Ingrid Hjort (Eleanor Williams) goes missing after an evening out, the police can find no trace of the Danish au pair. Her employer, widowed scientist Dr Hector Lorenz (Milo Twomey) claims to know nothing about her disappearance, while her fellow students at the night school she attended are similarly clueless. Thursday’s convinced that the presumed murder is linked to the vicious attack in 1963 that left another young woman in a coma, but in the absence of Ingrid’s body, nothing can be proved.

The investigation soon takes a turn for the macabre when a man’s severed arm is retrieved from the river. The victim, Ricky Parker (David Burnett) was having fun on the riverbank at night with friends when he disappeared without a trace.
