The Way Back To Be Released In 2010
Looks like Peter Weir’s film The Way Back will see a 2010 release. When the film premiered at the 37th Telluride Film Festival, A.O. Scott, of the New York Times wrote in early September:

The drama of human beings confronting the elemental power of nature figures in later work like “The Mosquito Coast” and “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World,” and also in his latest movie, “The Way Back.” … Mr. Weir’s style is stately, almost classical, and the astonishing story he has to tell in the new movie “about a group of men who escaped from a Soviet Labor camp in 1941 and walked from Siberia to India. has an old-fashioned gravity and grandeur. There are fine performances from Ed Harris, Saoirse Ronan and Jim Sturgess as Janusz, the Polish prisoner who leads the trek toward freedom, and breathtaking images of tundra, desert forest and grassland.

Stana Katic and Odette Yustman Join Spy Thriller The Double
Michael Brandt’s The Double has gotten a double-dose of hotness as Stana Katic (ABC’s Castle) and Odette Yustman (The Unborn) have joined the cast of the upcoming spy thriller. The story follows a retired CIA operative (Richard Gere) who partners with a young FBI agent (Topher Grace) to track down the killer of a senator. Stephen Moyer (True Blood) signed on to the project earlier this week.

Katic will play “a feisty Russian prostitute who fiercely protects key information.” You had me at “feisty Russian prostitute.” As for Yustman, she’ll being playing “Grace’s character’s wife, a strong woman who raises a family while coping with her husband’s Bureau career.” Filming is set to begin June 21st in Detroit. Stana Katic ("Castle") and Odette Yustman ( The Unborn , Cloverfield ) have joined Richard Gere, Topher Grace, and Stephen Moyer in writer Michael Brandt's directorial debut project The Double . Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment Group and Imagenation Abu Dhabi are producing the sophisticated and elevated spy thriller based on an original script from Brandt and his writing partner Derek Haas ( Wanted , 3:10 to Yuma ). Amritraj and Hyde Park Executive VP of Production Patrick Aiello will produce along with Haas and Industry Entertainment's Andrew Deane. Imagenation Abu Dhabi Chairman Mohamed Khalaf Al-Mazrouei and CEO Edward Borgerding will serve as executive producers along with COO Stefan Brunner who will be an associate producer. Richard Gere, Topher Grace see 'Double'
Richard Gere at an event for I'm Not There (2007)
Richard Gere and Topher Grace are teaming up for "The Double," a Hyde Park-Imagenation Abu Dhabi spy thriller on which scribe Michael Brandt will make his directorial debut.

Brandt and his writing partner Derek Haas, who were wrote movies like "Wanted" and "3:10 to Yuma," penned "Double," which begins with a murder of a senator in Washington by a Soviet assassin long thought to be dead. A retired CIA operative (Gere), who spent his career going toe to toe with his Soviet nemeses, is forced to partner with a young FBI agent (Grace) to hunt the killer down.

Brandt said he was a fan of films such as "The Conversation," "Three Days of the Condor" and "No Way Out," and hoped to follow in their tradition.

Production is scheduled for June in Detroit.

The movie is part of Hyde Park and Imagenation's $250 million financing deal to make up to 20 films over a seven years,...
