One aspect of the Power Rangers franchise that has kept fans invested for many years is the emphasis on legacy. From Mighty Morphin’, the series has followed a mostly singular timeline, with each series taking place in the same continuity as the previous. With this lengthy history, there is always the possibility of past Rangers coming back, whether in team-up episodes, or in anniversary specials.

With the release of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always in 2023, fans have gotten to see a past Ranger team return for an all-new adventure. With the success of Once & Always among the fandom, many have begun wondering what other entries in the...

10 Power Rangers Who Never Returned to the Show (But Should've)
Image
It's always exciting when old Power Rangerscharacters make a reappearance. Most of the time, this happens during the series' frequent team-up episodes. This isn't always the case though, and fan favorites like Tommy Oliver, Adam Park and Billy Cranston are famous for their solo appearances.

Many of the best Power Rangers made appearances long after their departures from the series, while others never appeared after their debut season at all. Some teams never returned for a team-up episode, while other characters were simply absent from their team's grand comeback. These Rangers are all beloved figures, and they deserved to get at least one more crack at the spotlight.

Tanya Sloane is Zeo Ranger II Yellow in Power Rangers Zeo, and the first Yellow Turbo Ranger in Power Rangers Turbo. There is arguably no Ranger more deserving of a comeback than Tanya.

Every Power Ranger That Needs a Master Morpher
Image
Throughout the early seasons of Power Rangers, there were several characters that took on many Ranger forms. The 25th-anniversary special of the series, titled "Dimensions in Danger" (which took place during the second season of Power Rangers Ninja Steel), introduced a way for these Rangers to utilize all of their Ranger forms.

The Master Morpher was introduced as an upgraded form of the original morphers from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, with Tommy Oliver being the only character in the special to use it. Throughout the episode, with the use of the Master Morpher, Tommy was able to morph into any of his past Ranger forms, even those forms whose powers were destroyed. Given the immense power and versatility a Master Morpher provides, there are several other Power Rangers characters who would greatly benefit from a Master Morpher.

The Most Underrated Female Power Rangers, Ranked
Image
It's a sad fact of Power Rangers that male Rangers always outnumber their female counterparts and that they typically receive more screen time and relevance to the story as well. Unsurprisingly, characters who are exceptions to the latter are often hailed as some of the best in the franchise. Jen Scotts and Taylor Earhardt are adored for being the awesome original leaders of their teams, Karone has a stunning arc across multiple seasons, Lauren Shiba made a massive impact in only five episodes, Shelby Watkins was always front and center, and Kimberly Ann Hart remains the most beloved female Ranger ever.

For all that some of them receive their proper due, other incredible female Power Rangers too often go overlooked by fans. These heroines may not have all been central to the stories of their seasons, but they're all still memorable and important in their own ways. Fans may like these Rangers,...

This Power Rangers Character Was Created To Replace A 1990s Fan Favorite But Become One Of The Shows Most Iconic Heroes
Image
Johnny Yong Boschs Adam Park had the difficult mission to replace Walter Emanuel Jones Zack Taylor in Power Rangers, but the second Black Ranger ended up becoming an iconic character himself. While the first Power Rangers team changed midway through season 2 following the exits of three cast members, the original Red, Yellow, and Black Rangers had all become fan favorites by that point. This is why replacing Jason, Trini, and Zack with new characters was risky.

Still, introducing three new Power Rangers characters was arguably a much better approach than recasting Jason, Zack, and Trini. The Stone Canyon trio Rocky, Aisha, and Adam were introduced in The Ninja Encounter, during which they proved their strength and loyalty. In the following episode, The Power Transfer, those three were chosen by Zordon to become the new Red, Yellow, and Black Rangers. Of those three, the one who carved the biggest legacy in Power Rangers was Adam.

Power Rangers Finally Delivered The Scene Every Mighty Morphin Fan Had Been Waiting For Since The 1990s
Image
Zack Taylor, the original Black Ranger, left the team during Mighty Morphin Power Rangers season 2 and would only interact with his replacement on screen 29 years later. The original Power Rangers team went through a few big changes throughout its three-season run, one of which was the exits of Austin St. John, Thuy Trang, and Walter Emanuel Jones. By the end of Mmpr season 3, David Yosts Billy was the only one of the first five Rangers still on the show.

Replacing four of the teams members was no easy feat, but Power Rangers surprisingly found great new characters that were welcomed by the fanbase and would remain on the show for years to come. Apart from Aisha, all second generation Rangers remained on the show through Power Rangers Zeo and the first half of Power Rangers Turbo. However, it was only in 2023 that the original Black Ranger and his replacement, Adam Park,...

This 22-Year-Old Power Rangers Episode Fulfilled The Dreams Of Every 90s Kid
Image
Power Rangers Wild Forces Forever Red delivered a lot of instant classic moments, including one interaction that fulfilled the dreams of every 1990s kid who watched through the Zordon Era. Although Power Rangers has had 30 seasons already, its difficult not to associate the franchise with the 90s. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which premiered in 1993, quickly became a phenomenon and set in motion what would become one of the longest-running franchises of all time. The Power Rangers chronology can be split into two eras before and after the death of Zordon in Power Rangers in Space.

From Mighty Morphins pilot to the first half of Power Rangers Turbo, the show followed essentially the same team of heroes, although with a few changes from time to time. Four years after Power Rangers premiered, we were still watching characters like Tommy Oliver and Adam Park. The introduction of four new heroes midway through...

Power Rangers Series Dead At Netflix; Hasbro Seeking New Partner With A Different Creative Vision
Image
Following rumors over the weekend, TV Line has confirmed that Hasbro's Power Rangers cinematic universe, which was expected to include both an original television show and new films, that had been in development at Netflix for the past two years is no longer moving forward at the streamer.

X user @Jinsakuu was the first to break the story, before the trade was able to obtain confirmation. In their initial tweet, the online scooper explained, "Due to the lack of staff and all the departments and responsibilities Hasbro had to take on. They’re lisencing Power Rangers Toys and Media off to other companies. As we seen with playmates who now own full control of the toys they’re doing the same with the show rights. Also they’re trying to be as hands off as possible and still own the franchises revenues. So good news maybe ??"

8 Power Rangers Characters We Wish Had Appeared More On The Show
Image
Some iconic Power Rangers characters like Tanya, Ryan, and Cam deserved more appearances. Characters like Andros, Ryan, and Jen displayed significant character growth and had compelling backstories. Most Rangers returned to at least one crossover, but some deserved to show up way more than that.

The Power Rangers universe has seen a lot of characters after 30 seasons, but while it is understandable that not everyone can come back all the time, some heroes and villains should have appeared more on the show. One of the greatest strengths of the Power Rangers franchises timeline is how most series take place in the same universe. As a result, there have been dozens of Power Rangers team-up episodes in which characters from previous seasons got to return.

Most Power Rangers characters appeared in at least one crossover after their respective season ended. Still, some names showed up in more than one crossover, while...

The Original Power Rangers Reunion Brought Justice To The Franchises Most Underrated Red Ranger
Image
Once & Always rectified Rocky's underappreciated role as the Red Ranger in Mmpr history. The special reunited original cast members from all seasons of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Rocky never got to shine as the Red Ranger in Mmpr, although he continued on the show in Zeo and returned in other crossovers.

Power Rangers: Once & Always, the Netflix special that reunited some of the original Power Rangers, brought justice to the franchises most underrated Red Ranger. Set 30 years after the events of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Once & Always was a slightly more mature take on the original series and celebrated the sagas original heroes. Once & Always story was dedicated to Thuy Trang, with the special also including a homage to Jason David Frank. Despite the bittersweetness of the reunion, Once & Always was a nostalgic and emotional Power Rangers special.

Power Rangers’ Tommy Oliver Replacement Was Part Part Of 2 Teams & Helped Save The Franchise Twice
Image
T.J. Johnson replaced Tommy Oliver as the Turbo Red Ranger. The new Turbo cast introduced new energy and helped revitalize the show. T.J. would then become the In Space Blue Ranger and continued to appear in multiple Power Rangers crossovers.

Power Rangers once replaced Tommy Oliver as the leader of the team, and this new character was part of two Ranger squads and helped save the franchise. The original Green Ranger Tommy, played by the late Jason David Frank, was introduced during Mighty Morphin season 1 and quickly became the face of the show. Tommy was front and center in three different series and led the team in two films between 1993 and 1997, an impressive legacy that would only be interrupted during the latter half of Power Rangers Turbo.

Tommy Oliver had appeared in hundreds of episodes and two Power Rangers movies by the time Turbo premiered, going from an evil...

What Happened To The Original Black Ranger After Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Image
Zack Taylor, the original Black Ranger, left the Power Rangers in Mighty Morphin season 2 along with two other original cast members. Zack made a comeback 30 years later in Power Rangers: Once & Always. While the TV show didn't feature Zack much after Mighty Morphin, he made technically made cameo appearances in other episodes with his helmet on and may have been part of Cosmic Fury's final battle.

Zack Taylor, the original Black Ranger, exited the team midway through Mighty Morphin but continued to be an important part of the Power Rangers universe regardless of which stories are canon. The five teenagers with attitude introduced in Mighty Morphin episode 1 will forever be among Power Rangers’ best characters, as they helped create what would become a massive saga spanning 30 years. Power Rangers Cosmic Fury’s ending may have been the end of the current chronology, but at least Once & Always got to...

The Weakest Power Rangers In The Franchise, Ranked
Image
As superheroes, the Power Rangers are much more powerful than the average person. They are constantly fighting against monsters and aliens and can also control giant robots that combine to become even bigger mechanized fighters. Every Ranger has a mastery of hand-to-hand combat and uses a wide variety of weapons and tools to take down their opponents. Even the least effective among them can take down a half-dozen putty patrol monsters by themselves before needing to call for backup.

The weakest Rangers in the entire franchise still have something to them that makes them worthy of being a Power Ranger. Usually, their personality shines, making them incredibly popular for their nature as outcasts. Additionally, they tend to be the heart and soul of their team. They just happen to be the worst in battle.

Power Rangers' Darkest Timeline Gave The '90s Red Ranger a Twisted New Identity
Image
Though there have been many iterations of the Red Ranger across the Power Rangers franchise, none are as shocking as the Jason Lee Scott version in the alternate reality known as the World of the Coinless. This is a reality where Tommy Oliver's Green Ranger never regains his "good side" after being corrupted by Rita Repulsa, and instead learns to embrace his dark side. A decade after conquering humanity, Tommy Oliver aka Lord Drakkon disappears. He's believed to be dead, but is actually living in the Power Rangers' main reality.

Anthony Burch and Simone Ragazzoni's 2020 miniseries Power Rangers: Drakkon - New Dawn explores the World of the Coinless in the wake of Tommy's absence. Former Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart, who was herself corrupted by Tommy to do his bidding as the Ranger Slayer, regains her true personality and is now committed to bringing the world out of the darkness of Drakkon's rule.

9 Power Rangers Actors Who Are Martial Artists In Real Life
Image
While the Power Rangers are known for their flashy and effective martial arts skills, some Power Rangers actors were trained martial artists long before earning their roles. These actors not only played a Power Ranger at some point in time, but also became proficient in some form of martial arts before stepping into the franchise. In this way, they are martial artists both on-screen and beyond it as well.

The Power Rangers franchise first began in 1993 with the premiere of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The series revolves around a group of powerful teenagers who are taken in and mentored by the wizard Zordon. Through training and the use of assault machines called Zords, the teens are able to morph into the Power Rangers. Their main enemy was Rita Repulsa. Since then, the Power Rangers have appeared in various additional television series and feature films that are still being created today.

Who Is The Green Ranger In Netflix’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Reunion?
Image
Netflix's Might Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reunion celebrating the franchise's 30th anniversary, will feature a different version of the Green Ranger following the tragic passing of original Tommy Oliver actor Jason David Frank at the age of 49. Though anniversary special episodes are common in the Power Rangers franchise, Netflix's Power Rangers reunion is set to be even more important. Power Rangers: Once & Always will be the first proper Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reunion since the original show ended in 1996.

While the Green Ranger was not part of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers lineup, Tommy Oliver joined the story after just a few episodes for "Green With Evil." This multiple-episode arc introduced the evil Green Ranger created and controlled by Rita Repulsa. Tommy later broke free of Rita Repulsa's magic and joined Zordon's team as the first sixth Ranger. From villain to hero,...

Amy Jo Johnson, Power Rangers Star, Denies Skipping Netflix Reunion Over Money
Elizabeth Banks, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, and RJ Cyler in Power Rangers (2017)
Power Rangers star Amy Jo Johnson is speaking out about reports surrounding her absence from Netflix's Might Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always.

When the anniversary project was announced, many of Johnson's former co-stars were confirmed to be on board.

The actress has taken issue with fans saying she didn't take part in the project due to monetary reasons.

"Please stop saying I didn't do reunion because of money. Simply not true," she wrote.

"Maybe I just didn't want to wear spandex in my fifties."

"Or I couldn't travel to New Zealand to film for a month. Or perhaps it's none of [your] beeswax."

The special was filmed before fellow co-star Jason David Frank's death.

Johnson shared that both actors declined the project for their "own reasons."

"[Jason David Frank] and I both chose not to for our own reasons. They filmed before he passed," Johnson wrote.

The star added that she's excited...

Guess what, "Power Rangers" fans? It's morphin' time! The Netflix special "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always" that will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" TV show finally has a trailer, and it has us feeling all the feels.

Johnny Yong Bosch Returns For Trigun: Stampede, Confirms English Dub Release Date
Image
Voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch is going back to his roots. In a tweet from Crunchyroll, the voice actor confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Vash the Stampede in the soon-to-come English dub of "Trigun: Stampede." Said dub will be arriving on January 21, 2023, a mere two weeks after the premiere of "Stampede" this past January 7.

Yong Bosch is a prolific voice actor and Vash in the original "Trigun" anime was his very first voice-over role. He'd acted before, most famously as Adam Park (the second Black Ranger) in "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers." However, during an Adr session, a producer decided he had a "hero's voice" and asked him to audition for animated roles. A few weeks later, he was voicing Vash. The return of Yong Bosch in "Stampede" comes as a pleasant surprise. He'd previously expressed uncertainty about returning and Vash's original Japanese voice actor, Masaya Onosaka,...

The Amber Light review – warming treatise on whisky's liquid gold
This agreeable documentary combines the social history of drinking whisky with a tour of Scotland

Adam Park’s documentary opens with a title card acknowledging that “the story of whisky is a familiar one”, before carving out its own distinct and distinctly engaging niche. It’s less interested in the business side of whisky than its social aspect: how this liquid gold has been drunk through the ages.

To this end, Park joins the whisky scholar Dave Broom on a tour of Scotland, and those sites where the drink was originated, developed, reclaimed and knocked back. Invariably – this having clearly been one of documentary’s more enjoyable shoots – their itinerary involves Broom taking a dram or two himself. The title refers to the impeccably hip watering hole the film concludes in, but also to the warm, convivial glow radiating out from the screen.
