Russell was born and raised in Tennessee. After graduating high school he moved with his family to North Carolina where he completed his degree at Greensboro College. While in college he started attending acting classes in Winston Salem at the, Actor's Group, taught by Burgess Jenkins. In between acting gigs he stays busy attending the Actor's Group and running his business, an online vintage clothes store.
