Real estate speculation is threatening to change the cultural flavor of Spanish Harlem. Two residents with diferent points of view on the neighborhood's future debate the subject, while a community fights to maintain its unique character. Author and journalist Ed Morales returns to the neighborhood where his parents met and married and finds a complex set of competing interests. Some community groups are confrontational, others try to work within the system. But everyone agrees that Spanish Harlem is the most important cultural homeland of Latinos in the Northeast, and are willing to fight to keep its unique flavor for a long time to come.
