Biography

Matt Florio is an award-winning filmmaker and actor born and raised in South Florida. After graduating from Florida State University with a business degree, Matt worked as a marketing executive alongside multiple CEOs before eventually pursuing a career in comedy.

Matt studied improv and sketch comedy at the famed Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade which led to stand up and then ultimately acting. He has appeared in numerous commercials for major companies such as Fox Sports and Tide as well as television shows such as National Geographic's Explorer and and A&E's Watching the Detectives.

In 2010, Matt founded Comedy Flo Entertainment, a production company which produces comedy-based productions, and began creating his own projects. To date, Matt has written, directed and produced over two dozen films and series under the Comedy Flo label.

Matt is best known for his short films Mama Needs a Ride, Sexcut, Friend Draft and Unhired Guns as well as his web series Son of a... and Web Series which have all received critical acclaim on the film festival circuit winning numerous awards. Though shot on no/low budgets, Matt has been recognized for the writing and producing. His projects have garnered many awards such as Best Comedy at SINY Film Festival , Hollywood Gold Awards, Chain NYC Film Festival, Golden Fern Film Awards, Duk International Film Festival , Knight of the Reel Awards, Paris Play Film Festival, Aasha International Film Festival, Cuckoo Internatioanl Film Awards and Royal Society of Television & Motion Picture Awards.

In 2020, Matt created two live series, Comedy Doctors and Meaningless Debate which featured famous comedians. Most recently, Matt wrote, directed and produced the short films No Dessert for Bert, The Florida Manifesto and Ask Aldo.
