    • Formed in London, England in 1963 by Phil May (vocals) and former Rolling Stones bassist, Dick Taylor (lead guitar).

      Most famous line-up (1964-1965): Phil May (vocals) Dick Taylor (lead guitar) Brian Pendleton (rhythm guitar) John Stax (bass) Viv Prince (drums)

      Skip Alan replaced Viv Prince in December 1965.

Trivia

  • Interestingly, the band is often credited with producing the first rock opera with their album "S.F. Sorrow". However, it was overshadowed by The Who's more successful album "Tommy", which was released just a few months later.
  • Their single "Don't Bring Me Down" was banned in the United States due to "suggestive" lyrics.
  • Founding member Dick Taylor was a former member of The Rolling Stones.
  • The group also recorded under the name: The Electric Banana.
