Real-world events inspire many emergencies featured in the 9-1-1 universe. In the final season of 9-1-1: Lone Star, the show goes out with a bang as an asteroid heads for Austin. Showrunner Rashad Raisani previewed the final three episodes to TV Insider and in that conversation, he revealed that the asteroid emergency was inspired by a similar one in Siberia. This emergency had been on the cards for the show and never made it in the past seasons, but Season 5 felt appropriate to use it. Raisani credited writers James Leffler and Molly Green for the idea, saying:...

The end is near—and not just for this spinoff that remained on Fox after the LAPD-set mothership moved to ABC. In a plot inspired in part by a real-life meteor strike in Siberia, the Austin-based crew prepare as an asteroid barrels toward Texas. “We had this very apocalyptic feeling, just finding out that our show was going to end in Season 5 instead of what we would’ve hoped,” admits showrunner Rashad Raisani, who learned of Lone Star‘s impending doom back in September. “So a big part of this season has been about pushing our characters to an existential threat–level crisis way earlier in life than they would’ve expected.” Raisani credits show writers James Leffler and Molly Green with the Deep Impact-caliber idea. “They always have these great high-concept ideas that they’ve taken from real life and so they had been wanting for years to do an asteroid storyline,...

9-1-1 star Oliver Stark teases Buck's dynamic with Eddie, and Tommy's reaction to it, in the new season. 9-1-1 season 8 has officially debuted new episodes. Although the first of the three-part premiere is largely focused on introducing the season's bee-related disaster, there is a scene of Buck (Stark) and Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) trying to help Eddie (Ryan Guzman) reconcile with his son.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Stark was asked about how Eddie has always been the person that Buck is most vulnerable with, and vice versa, and whether that would create any issues for Buck's boyfriend Tommy. In the quote below, Stark says that Eddie and his son Christopher are obviously hugely important in Bucks life. He adds that there is no jealousy from Tommy's side about Buck's closeness with Eddie:
No, I don't think so. I think we even see in the first episode...

In Molly Green and James Leffler’s “Forev,” a comedic ode to the decidedly poor decision-making skills of twentysomethings, Sophie (“Saturday Night Live”‘s Noël Wells) impulsively accepts the marriage proposal of her apartment neighbor, Los Angeles tech support jockey Pete (Matt Mider), and the pair then promptly head off on a six-hour drive to pick up Pete’s sister Jess (Amanda Bauer) from college. The Los Angeles Film Festival has finally rolled out their full lineup for the upcoming summer fest, and it’s packed with a number of Sundance picks, the return of Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn, and everyone’s favorite film that hasn’t been released just yet, You’re Next. Basically, you should probably start making your schedule now, because this is easily one of Laff’s best lineups yet. The festival will open with Pedro Almodovar‘s I’m So Excited (Almodovar is a Los Angeles favorite, as he’s also served as guest artistic director for La’s other big festival, AFI Fest), close with Nat Faxon and Jim Rash‘s The Way, Way Back, and include special gala presentations in the middle of both Refn’s Only God Forgives and Ryan Coogler‘s Sundance winner Fruitvale Station (formerly known as Fruitvale). Didn’t think you could get a large portion of your awards...
