Watch a Scenic New Video for Tom Petty’s ‘Wildflowers’ Rarity ‘You Saw Me Comin”
Image
A new video has been released for Tom Petty’s Wildflowers-era rarity, “You Saw Me Comin’,” which will appear on the upcoming release, Finding Wildflowers (Alternate Versions), out April 16th.

The new video was directed by Joel Kazuo Knoernschild and Katie Malia, who pair the simmering rocker with an array of stunning natural scenes. Every now and then, the footage is reversed or flipped, injecting a somewhat surreal element into all that serenity.

In a statement, the Heartbreakers’ Benmont Tench said of “You Saw Me Comin’,” “There’s this kind of longing in the song,...

Evan Shapiro Tapped As President To Resuscitate National Lampoon Comedy Brand
Evan Shapiro

PalmStar media spent $12 million in 2017 to acquire all the assets of the brand, including the National Lampoon trademark and a library of print, audio and movie content generated over 50 years. One part of Shapiro’s emergence here is a partnership with alt-comedy podcast network Forever Dog, that will carry reboots of the National Lampoon Radio Hour that launched the likes of Bill Murray and Gilda Radner. They are also republishing online pages from the original National Lampoon magazine, and will reboot as a stage and TV show Lemmings, which launched Chevy Chase, Christopher Guest, John Belushi and others.

Indie Spotlight: ‘Almost Asian’ Lives Between Two Worlds
Through web series episodes, a half-Japanese, half-German actress is exploring her heritage. Katie Malia is the creator and star of Almost Asian, in which she shares various scenarios related to her mixed-race identity.

On the surface, Malia’s web series appears similar to many other projects helmed by aspiring actors in Los Angeles. Certain episodes do trend in that direction, but others embrace Malia’s Japanese identity by taking on the tone of a campy Far East TV program. It’s not just Malia herself who is multicultural; her web series itself lives somewhere between La and Tokyo.

“My intention with Almost Asian is to celebrate the nuanced mixed-ethnic identity and challenge our social conventions regarding race and culture through a heightened-comedic lens," said Malia in a press release.

The latest episode takes place at a karaoke bar. It features a guest appearance from former Saturday Night Live cast member Horatio Sanz and,...
