Biography

    • Award-winning Scottish actor Gianni Capaldi was born in Motherwell, Scotland to his Italian parents. He won Best actor awards from San Diego's IndieFest and Chicago's Amarcord film festival, and was part of the Bafta-nominated comedy Gasping, and also got nominated at the 2017 BIFA Raindance for that year's Isolani. Capaldi's love for acting came from his family's entertainment background. He is related to Scottish entertainers Jimmy Logan and Peter Capaldi. Capaldi made his first appearance in the poker comedy All In. He then portrayed an English gangster in the Sony action fantasy The Cross, co-starring Brian Austin Green, Vinnie Jones, Danny Trejo, Tom Sizemore and the late Michael Clarke Duncan. Soon following, Capaldi worked alongside Academy Award-winner Morgan Freeman in Wish Wizard, a short film made in collaboration with the Make a Wish Foundation. Capaldi briefly expanded into television with appearances in the HDnet reality television series Hollywood Royale.

His first breakthrough leading roles came with the Voltage Pictures action crime drama Ambushed alongside Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones and Randy Couture. Afterwards, Capaldi played an FBI agent out to redeem the murder of his father, alongside Dolph Lundgren, Billy Zane and Robert Davi. In A Certain Justice, Capaldi stepped into the role of Vin, starring alongside Cung Le, Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones and Briana Evigan.

Capaldi has acting credits in the action drama Crossroads; the romantic drama Don't Pass Me By; Jeremy London's directorial debut Devils Dozen, alongside C. Thomas Howell, Jake Busey and Eric Roberts; Jason Mewes's superhero action comedy Vigilante Diaries; and the paranormal drama The Between with child actors Joel Courtney and Isabelle Furhman.

Capaldi then filmed the Italian theatrically-released horror flick Janara before the BBC comedy short film Gasping, set in Scotland with director Greg Hemphill and comedian Frankie Boyle. Gasping was nominated for Best Short Film at the 2015 Edinburgh Film Festival.

Capaldi also had the honor to star in legendary acting icon Mickey Rooney's last film, Jeckyl and Hyde. Capaldi led the cast as the despicable Edward Hyde where he teamed up with Oscar-winner Margaret O'Brien; he won numerous awards for the role. He then went on to work on Last Man's club, Astro and Ulysses alongside Danny Glover.

In 2015, Capaldi starred in Bite alongside Costas Mandylor, which premiered at Festival de Cine de Sitges. Next up was Ghosts of Garip in Turkey, then The Wicked Within, a gothic thriller alongside Sienna Guillory, which was released by After Dark and 20th Century Fox theatrically in North America. Courtney Solomon executive produced Wicked Within.

Capaldi went on to star in Rottentail and other productions such as Nightworld, shot in Bulgaria with Robert Englund, and Shadow Within, where he starred alongside Lindsay Lohan.

He lead the cast with Estella Warren in six episodes of the series Feel The Dead, executive produced by Oscar-winners, Phillip Goldfine and Nicholas Chartier. After that, Capaldi appeared in "River Runs Red" starring alongside John Cusack, Taye Diggs, Luke Hemsworth and George Lopez. It got released in the United States in November 2018.

A major production of Capaldi's in Scotland was the folklore epic "Robert The Bruce", alongside Angus MacFadyen, Jared Harris, Daniel Portman and Zach McGowan. Another was The Becoming in Kentucky starring Toby Kebbel. Capaldi also filmed an episode of BBC's long-running comedy Still Game in Glasgow.

Towards the tail end of 2018, Capaldi starred in the Christmas-themed My Adventures With Santa alongside Denise Richards, before finishing the year with the clown horror flick Circus Road. Afterwards he starred in Cranley Gardens, a thriller filmed in London by the 2018 Berlin Festival-winner Raphael Kaplinsiki.
