HBO's Celtics City is steadily rising on Max's streaming chart while Celtics fans watch their games. According to the streaming service, the nine-part sports documentary series is garnering rave reviews from fans worldwide. Executive produced by Bill Simmons, American sports analyst and author, and Connor Schell, Celtics City tells the story of the Boston Celtics, the NBA's most storied franchise. It goes into depth about where it all began, from being one of the original teams in the league to its historic championships and rivalries that shaped its identity. Never-before-seen archives and over eight dozen interviews were conducted to complete what Rotten Tomatoes reviewers are calling "a well-produced history for those who fit its target audience."

While the series began streaming on Max on March 3, 2025, it already has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, with Alan French of Sunshine State Cineplex calling it a "fun ride with plenty of serious discussions.

HBO has announced that its original nine-part documentary series Celtics City will debut on Monday, March 3 at 9:00 p.m. Et/Pt on HBO and will be available to stream on Max. New episodes will debut weekly through April 28.

Celtics City was directed by Emmy-winner Lauren Stowell (Taquarius Wair: Unstoppable), executive produced by Bill Simmons and Connor Schell, and co-executive produced and showrun by Gabe Honig (The Captain).

Exclusive: Former NBA star Kevin Garnett has teamed with connected TV firm Ronin Media Networks to launch a global channel.

Veem.TV is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2023 as a Black-owned connected TV network from Hall of Famer Garnett’s LA-based production company, The Content Cartel Studios, and Ronin.

The network will offer programs in genres such as from sports, entertainment, Black culture, education, lifestyle, true stories, comedy and drama.

According to the partners, it’ll reach up to 85 million homes and focus on “promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion in the content it produces and distributes.” The launch line-up will include “exclusive shows and series produced and starring some of the biggest names in sports, comedy and entertainment.”

The Jv partners also plan to deliver a portion of Veem.TV’s proceeds to non-profit organizations including Garnett’s Anything Is Possible Foundation.

Ava DuVernay has one message for viewers who tune into “Colin in Black & White,” the new Netflix series she co-created with Colin Kaepernick.

Music icon and entrepreneur Sean Combs and Endeavor are launching a virtual development program and resume database for aspiring entertainment executives from underrepresented communities.

Called The Excellence Program, the partnership comes on the heels of Combs’ signing with WME across all areas.

Update: The NBA has suspended Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Ingram four games, Lakers guard Rajon Rondo three games, and Houston Rockets guard Chris Paul two games without pay after a fight in Saturday’s game.

The suspensions begin immediately. Paul will miss Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers play San Antonio on Monday.

It’s that time of the year again. Which players can we name and shame? The same two teams from last season may have appeared in the Finals, but not everyone has been so consistent.

Selecting the five best players was no easy task, but as the list goes on it will only become more difficult as more and more factors are taken into account. Rounding out the top five in the last segment was big man Dwight Howard, and it was no easy decision placing all-star Dwyane Wade after him.

So, on that note, let’s begin.

The draft is a time where team scouts, general managers, coaches and other team personnel tremendously boost their job security, or where they lose it altogether. That is why no one wants to make a decision on a boom or bust player. Hip-hop and sports are practically kindred spirits, especially when it comes to basketball. At this year's NBA All-Star Weekend, a number of hoop stars, and the wife of one player in particular, wholeheartedly agreed with this observation.
