John Hudson Messerall is an accomplished screenwriter and classically trained "method" actor, for both stage and screen. He is also half of the highly dynamic creative team behind Johnny Nitrate Productions, a creator of dramatic content for television development and theatrical release, co-founded with childhood friend, Tama Fulton.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, John cut his teeth on the crew side of the "indie" film world working on projects for the vaunted producing and directing team of Robert Teitel and George Tillman Jr. at State Street Pictures. While working on the production side proved to be an amazing training ground, John continued strengthening his thematic voice, continuing to work as a screenwriter and story consultant for Edward MacDougal and several other significant local area writers and filmmakers.
John has been cast in numerous off-Broadway productions including the Odd Couple, Laughter on the 23rd Floor and Wait Until Dark, playing the lead roles of Oscar Madison, Max Prince and Mike Talman. He can also be seen in the following feature films, The Last of Robin Hood, Ragamuffin and Valiant.
Although John enjoys acting, preferring the stage to the screen, the passion that still burns most deeply is his profound love for writing. He and his creative partner, Tama Fulton through Johnny Nitrate Productions are forever committed to telling incredibly engaging stories with strong thematic narratives, carved from credibly flawed characters our audience truly cares about.
