Image
Warning: This article contains spoilers for "A Minecraft Movie."

In Jared Hess' blockbuster video game flick "A Minecraft Movie," Jack Black plays Steve, an ordinary man who longs to work in a mine. He represses his childhood dream until middle-age, when he decides to finally take up a pickaxe and start smashing through the rock in a tunnel in his small Idaho town. On his first outing, Steve uncovers a magical glowing cube that opens a mysterious portal deep in the mine. He passes through the portal and finds himself in the block-like Overworld, a magical realm that abides by video game physics. There, Steve can build houses out of three-foot-by-three-foot cube merely by flicking his wrists and manifesting them out of thin air. He loves it and decides to live in the Overworld.

By the end of the film, however, Steve has made a new friend in the form...

Karen Joseph Adcock (The Bear) is writing the adaptation.

Set in the gentrifying Bushwick area of Brooklyn, NY, Pride centers on Afro-Latina teen Zuri Benitez, who fights to preserve her neighborhood and manage family chaos. Black Panther ending explained: What happened to Killmonger's attempt for the throne?
Image
Black Panther was the Marvel movie we had all been waiting for. It brought us the story of T’Challa, with the late, great Chadwick Boseman in the lead. Opposite him was Michael B. Jordan as the villain Killmonger.

While Black Panther started off with a story set thousands of years ago to allow us to understand Wakanada and then jumped to 1992 to kick start the backstory for Killmonger, the main focus was on after T’Chaka’s death. T’Challa stepped up to become King of Wakanda, but not everyone was happy.

Why Killmonger wanted to rule Wakanda

Killmonger was known as Erik Stevens at first. His backstory became clear when T’Challa noticed that he wore N’Jobu’s necklace. It turned out that Erik was the American son of N’Jobu. N’Jobu had wanted to share Wakanda’s technology with the world to help those of...

‘Good Trouble’ Showrunner Joanna Johnson Breaks Down Series Finale; Cast Reflects On Its Legacy After 5 Seasons
Image
Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the series finale of Freeform’s Good Trouble.

Good Trouble has officially taken its final bow.

The Freeform series ended Tuesday night after five seasons, concluding more than a decade of television telling the stories of the Adams-Foster family and those closest to them. In some ways, Good Trouble ended exactly how it began — with Callie and Mariana.

Maia Mitchell rejoined Cierra Ramirez one last time for the finale, in which the residents of The Coterie find out the building is being sold and they’ll all need to move out. As they gather for a final Coterie dinner and rooftop hang, everyone reminisces on all they’ve gone through together. Callie and Mariana certainly have more than their fair share of trials, tribulations, and celebrations to reflect on.

“They’ve been working together for over 10 years, since they were 17 and 19,” showrunner and...

10 Best Unused Black Panther MCU Designs
Image
Zuri's alternate outfits showcase the variety of clothing worn by Wakandan citizens, combining traditional and formal attire for a wise shaman. T'Chaka's Black Panther suits have a more classic superhero look, featuring an open-mouthed cowl and the iconic upturned-collar-and-cape combo from the comics. The Ancestral Realm's true appearance, depicted as a mystical savannah resting upon a central trunk of spiritual energy, adds a powerful image that didn't make the final cut.

Black Panther left a lot of great designs on the cutting room floor, the creative team responsible for forging the identity of Wakanda having plenty of great concepts that never made it into the final film. As one of Marvel's highest-grossing hits, part of what made Black Panther so special was the excellent world building and costume design that made Wakanda feel like a real place. It's no wonder that Marvel Studios' concept artists had plenty of extra...

Every Wakanda Tribe In The MCU, Explained
Image
Black Panther's Wakanda is made up of six tribes, each with an important role to play in the workings of the technologically advanced nation. Though Chadwick Boseman debuted as T'Challa, the Prince of Wakanda, in Captain America: Civil War, it wasn't until 2018's Black Panther when audiences got an in-depth look at the fictional African nation. The opening moments of Black Panther featured an animated montage detailing a brief history of Wakanda, designed by visual effects studio Perception. The sequence introduced Wakanda's five tribes, but it has since been revealed that the country actually houses six different tribes.

Though some of Wakanda's tribes have seen more development in Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever than others, each one has an important role to play in the economy, security, and spirituality of Wakanda. While Wakanda is formed of five primary tribes, only four became united under the rule of Bashenga,...

Yasmine Aker
Yasmine Aker On Stirring Up Good Trouble, Acting As A Form of Activism & Neurodivergency
Yasmine Aker
Yasmine Aker is a force of nature.

She's a wonderful, talented, and inspiring woman who is out to change the world onscreen and off.

While many know her as Angelica, Malika's supportive but no-nonsense girlfriend on Freeform's Good Trouble, she's also a noteworthy activist and advocate who doesn't seem to take a day off. She doesn't just star in Good Trouble; she lives it.

Yasmine is as passionate about her craft as she is about advocating for Iranian, human, and women's rights and destigmatizing mental illness and neurodivergency.

TV Fanatic had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Yasmine about her role as Angelica on Good Trouble and all her amazing work and what drives her to do it. Check out our compelling interview with this lovely actress!

Hi Jasmine!

Hi, Yasmine! We're like name cousins.

Yeah, that's right. We have the same namesake. It has to be a good omen!
