The future of ABC’s The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are currently uncertain, which has left the fans in confusion. Both shows have long been mainstays of popular culture, but their inclusion in ABC’s most recent renewal announcements raises concerns about their viability.
Critics point to formula fatigue and lackluster storytelling as key issues. The show has also been criticized for its handling of diversity, with producers admitting to past failures, particularly in the treatment of Matt James, the first Black Bachelor.
Additionally, this season’s star of The Bachelor, Grant Ellis, was under a lot of stress. It had been difficult enough to reduce his original dating pool of twenty-five women to just two. But it was excruciating to struggle with the decision of who he would marry.
The Bachelor is eventually losing viewers
The Bachelor franchise is currently facing significant challenges, with declining ratings, casting controversies, and criticism over its outdated format.

The Bachelor has fallen from its pedestal on ABC.
Tuning in to watch 25 women attempt to win the heart of a bachelor is no longer.
It has become a circus filled with wannabe or established influencers looking to boost their social media following.
(ABC/Screenshot)
Several of the last The Bachelor leads have flopped, and the breakup-to-marriage ratio has dwindled significantly.
However, ABC could turn things around with some adjustments if they are serious about keeping the show on air.

For everyone who had complained that the 22nd season of The Bachelor was, shall we say, a lot less than dramatic. Bachelor Nation was left so heart-poundingly shook on March 3, 2009, during the season 13 finale.
Jason Mesnick starred as a single father and mortgage broker in the 13th season of The Bachelor in 2009. After various emotional highs and lows throughout the season, he proposed to Melissa Rycroft in the finale. Though the engagement came off as a classic Bachelor success until everything unfolded just weeks later.
Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft’s six-week engagement on The Bachelor ended shockingly when Mesnick decided to pursue his runner-up Molly Malaney, during the After the Final Rose episode. He broke up with the season winner live on national television. Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney later married and are still together today.
What does Melissa think about it now? Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft on The Bachelor.

The Bachelor season 28's Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson seemed like the perfect couple, but, now that time has passed since they got engaged, there are some warning signs that they won't last because the show set them up to fail. Joey and Kelsey celebrated their one-year anniversary of getting engaged on November 12, 2024. Throughout the past year, they've been building their life together, but there were some red flags in their relationship.
After The Bachelor season 28, Joey moved into Kelsey's New Orleans home, which they shared with two roommates. Joey's credit had dropped because he missed a payment during filming, so he couldn't get an apartment on his own. The couple then relocated to Los Angeles while Joey competed on Dancing With The Stars season 33, where they'll be moving from an apartment to a house. Although they seem on track for their relationship to continue to thrive, there are a...

The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei just made history in the best way possible as his reality TV career continues to skyrocket. Joey is currently competing in Dancing With The Stars season 33, and the votes and judges' scores from the previous week secured him and Jenna Johnson a spot in the finals. The semifinals episode ended up being a non-elimination round, and all five duos advanced to the finals, including Danny Amendola and Witney Carson, Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong, Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten, and Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold.
This exciting development means that Joey is the very first lead from The Bachelor to make it to the DWTS finals in the history of the ABC competition series. Us Weekly spoke with the Bachelor star after his exceptional scores from the judges and reacted to the history-making news. He said, "It's unbelievable...We knew we had two dances that we loved,...

Your browser does not support the video tag. Despite rocky beginnings, some Bachelor couples, like Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney, have stood the test of time, proving love can survive reality TV. Not all Bachelor relationships end in bliss, as seen with couples like Zach Shallcross and Kaity Biggar, who have chosen to keep a low profile post-show. Even without a proposal, relationships formed on The Bachelor, like Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell's, can endure challenges and thrive over time.
With nearly 300 episodes, more than a dozen spinoffs, and a global viewership peaking at 13.93 million per episode, The Bachelor is easily one of TVs most successful reality dating shows. With each season brimming with tantalizing drama and head-spinning twists, the show rarely fails to capture viewer interest.

Jenn Tran is having the time of her life as she looks for love on Season 21 of The Bachelorette.
The first half of the season was spent in Australia, where she whittled her list of suitable suitors down to just seven.
At the end of Episode 5, she sent Dylan home after previously saying goodbye to John and Thomas N at the prior rose ceremony.
She also sent Austin Ott on his way after he opted to self-eliminate due to having the weakest connection with Jenn.
There’s not much tension left as the only man still giving Devin Strader a hard time is Sam McKinney.
They seem to be Jenn’s top prospects thus far, but there are five other guys, and The Bachelorette fans are starting to pick favorites.
Now, it’s time for another trip heading into Episode 6, where the competition will get fierce as we get closer to that final rose.

All couples from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette who are still together ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
While most of the couples formed on reality shows end up splitting after the shoot, there are a few who keep our belief in love alive. Especially, in franchises like the Bachelor, the whole purpose of the show is to help you choose your dream partner and settle down with them.
While The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have been going on for over two decades and have made several matches during the course, only a handful of those pairs are still together. Here are all the couples from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, whose relationship stood the test of time.
1. Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter
Trista Rehn was the lead on the debut season of The Bachelorette back in 2003, where she chose firefighter Ryan Sutter as her partner and got married to him in a televised ceremony.

Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici are the only Bachelor couple to get married after getting engaged during their season finale. Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson will be the next Bachelor couple to get married. Joey and Kelsey's strong relationship proves that they'll some day walk down the aisle as husband and wife.
The Bachelor has had a lot of failures in the past two decades, and I've been waiting ten years for another Bachelor wedding, but I think that season 28 couple Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson are going to be the ones to finally get married. I watched the first 15 Bachelors--including two-time lead Brad Womack--break up with the women they left with, whether they were in relationships or engaged, and began to lose faith in the show. However, then Sean Lowe appeared and saved the franchise.

The Bachelor season 28 has been announced by ABC, and there are many details to know about it. The Bachelor premiered in 2002, and has since become one of the most popular reality dating competition shows. Its spin-offs, The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise are also highly successful. In addition, the much-anticipated senior dating show, The Golden Bachelor, will premiere in fall 2023. Other franchise series have included Bachelor Pad, The Bachelor Winter Games, The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart, and The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons Ever!
When it comes to successful marriages, The Bachelor's actually the least successful series in the Bachelor franchise. Only one lead, Sean Lowe, married the woman he proposed to on the show, Catherine Giudici. Two other couples, Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell, and Zach Shallcross and Kaity Biggar, are currently together. One of the most anticipated parts of The Bachelor is the engagement, but there are several leading men who didn't propose at the ends of their seasons. Although it's easy to assume that proposing was the norm right from the start, the first Bachelor proposal was actually at the end of season 2, when Aaron Buerge got engaged to Helene Eksterowicz. This was followed by Andrew Firestone and Jen Schefft, Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado, and Andy Baldwin and Tessa Horst. Others include Matt Grant and Shayne Lamas, Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi, and Brad Womack and Emily Maynard.
In addition, The Bachelor couples Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson, Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff, Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell, and Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi got engaged. The Bachelor season 27 host Jesse Palmer announced that his cousin, country singer Griffen Palmer, will perform his latest single in the next episode of Zach Shallcross' season. Griffen signed a record deal with Big Loud Records in January. In 2020, he was a contestant in Songland season 2, a songwriting competition series. On that show, he collaborated with country singer Shane McAnally and Florida Georgia Line's Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard to write the ballad "Second Guessing." Griffen won the episode, and the song was released as a single.

The Bachelor season 27 contestant Christina Mandrell, who is a single mom, received support from fellow Bachelor Nation parents Amanda Stanton, Nate Mitchell and Michael Allio. Christina, a 27-year-old content creator from Tennessee, is a divorced single mom to her 5-year-old daughter, Blakely. When Zach Shallcross chose her for his first one-on-one date of the season, she opened up to him about being a mom. Zach admitted that he was unsure if he was ready to be a father, but he gave Christina the date rose because he wanted to explore their relationship further.
In a funny Instagram reel created by Christina, Bachelor Nation parents Amanda Stanton and Nate Mitchell expressed their support for her.

The Bachelor season 27 contestant, Christina Mandrell, addressed the mom-shamers who criticized her for joining the show to compete for Zach Shallcross' heart. Christina, a 27-year-old content creator from Tennessee, is a divorced single mom to her 5-year-old daughter, Blakely. Former lead of The Bachelor, Peter Weber, and Kelley Flanagan feel that their relationship is better after giving it another try. The pair have shared a tumultuous romance, both on- and off-screen, and their split was confirmed in February 2021. However, rumors began to circle that Peter and Kelley were back together after they were spotted appearing alone in public last summer. The return of their relationship was then confirmed when they attended the red carpet for the Global Lyme Alliance Gala as a couple.
In an interview with US Weekly, Kelley explained that she has "been doing a lot better than I was last year." Peter and Kelley had announced their breakup very shortly after moving to New York City together, which surprised many of their fans. Sean and Catherine Lowe, who met on The Bachelor season 17 in 2013, are the perfect example of a couple that knows what true love looks like, and fans would like to see them have their own TV show. While so much of reality TV is about bickering, heartbreak, and mean-spiritedness, Catherine and Sean could bring heartwarming hope to the genre. They have carved out an ideal life for themselves and their three beautiful children, which could serve as inspiration for those who think The Bachelor franchise is fake and contrived.
If Sean and Catherine, who got into ugly spats, were to have their own reality show, not only would it be entertaining, but it would also be a bright spot in the dark trenches of the 2020s. It is no secret that this decade has been stressful for just about everyone. Viewers watch romance reality shows to escape and vicariously live out a fantasy.

You know how “The Bachelorette” has had more success stories than “The Bachelor”? Well, it’s no different when it comes to “Dancing with the Stars.” The women of Bachelor Nation continue to crush it on the hardwood as Kaitlyn Bristowe literally followed in Hannah Brown‘s footsteps on Monday by taking home the Mirrorball trophy. That’s back-to-back Bachelorette champs and the third woman overall, while the guys still have a big fat goose egg.
Here’s the “Bachelor” franchise track record on “Dancing”:
1. Trista Sutter: Season 1, sixth place (first eliminated)
2. Melissa Rycroft: Season 8, third place; Season 15, won
3. Jake Pavelka: Season 10, seventh place

Nearly two decades ago, Trista Sutter was the runner-up on the first season of “The Bachelor,” a new reality show that would go on to become one of the most successful franchises in television history.
Little did Sutter — then, Trista Rehn — know, she would become the very first star of “The Bachelorette,” ABC’s first spinoff of the mega franchise. And little did she know, she would also meet her husband on a reality dating show.
“The Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” ends each season with a proposal and engagement, but more often than not, the TV couples call it quits a few years, or months, later. And yet, the original “Bachelorette” couple is still together. Ryan Sutter was one of Rehn’s 25 contestants who fought to win her heart, and 17 years later, the couple is happily married with two children.

Kaitlyn Bristowe waited five years for her “Dancing with the Stars” dream to come true, a turn of events that she says “feels like a wrong has been made right.”
Chris Harrison shocked the Season 11 “Bachelorette” star on Monday’s “The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons — Ever!” when he told Bristowe that she’d be on “Dancing” Season 29 — three years after she claimed that “Bachelor” creator Mike Fleiss blocked her from going on the show in 2015 following her rose-giving stint.

Arie Luyendyk Jr. found love on “The Bachelor,” but he is definitely not surprised that there are far more breakups than marriages in the franchise.
“It’s such a difficult — I hate to call it process — but it is a difficult show,” the Season 22 alum said on Shawn Johnson and Andrew East‘s podcast “Couple Things with Shawn and Andrew” podcast. “And that’s probably why you find that a lot of people don’t make it is because it’s just so taxing emotionally. Bachelor Nation, rejoice. Well, sort of.
After years upon years of wondering where to watch “The Bachelor” online, past seasons of the franchise are finally available for streaming.

“The Bachelor” franchise, which debuted in 2002, is distributed by Warner Bros. Television and produced by the production arm, Warner Horizon, both of which fall under the Warner Media umbrella, the media company powering the portfolio of content on HBO Max.
Prior to the launch of HBO Max, “The Bachelor” franchise only streamed on Hulu during current seasons. Now that Season 24 of “The Bachelor” is over and, you know, Peter Weber and Madison Prewett lasted a mere two days after the finale, everyone is free to weigh in, like Peter’s producer Julie Laplaca.
In the frenzy to spoil Peter’s then-unspoiled season, one of the theories fans came up with was that the pilot was dating Laplaca, who was his producer. This was based on them having spent New Year’s Eve together, which was basically a promo stop for the season premiere, hence why a producer would be with him. Like any good salesman, Rob Mills, ABC’s alternative programming executive, and Chris Harrison kept trolling everyone by neither confirming nor denying the rumor. After keeping quiet, Laplaca has now said her piece — and no, she and Peter are not dating.

With Peter Weber's season of The Bachelor ending with another broken engagement, we're wondering at this point when the last successful Bachelor franchise proposal was. Thinking backward, Hannah Brown broke up with Jed Wyatt shortly after he proposed, and Colton Underwood's finale was derailed when Cassie Randolph left the show (they later reconciled). In fact, the last few seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have ended so unconventionally that to find a season that actually ended with the final couple getting engaged and staying together, we have to look back quite a few years.
There has only been one Bachelor who has actually married the woman he proposed to at the final rose ceremony. We have to go all the way back to 2013's season 17, which starred Sean Lowe as the Bachelor. At the end of his season, he proposed to Catherine Giudici, and they got married...

Dear Chris Harrison, I'd like to thank you on behalf of Bachelor Nation for your services. If this week's complicated Bachelor finale taught viewers anything, it's that you are a live-tv pro. The wrap-up for Peter Weber's season of the show could not have been more of a mess, and you managed to spin that mess into water-cooler-talk gold. You delivered on your promise: Peter's was the most dramatic season finale ever.
As someone who's watched every season of every Bachelor franchise, I've tuned in to see Chris navigate tricky waters more than a few times. That Jake and Vienna sit-down? The Jason Mesnick switcheroo? I mean, wow. Chris has certainly moderated his fair share of - how do I put this? - sh*tshow scenarios, and the conversations between Peter, Madison Prewett, and the Weber family certainly rank among the franchise's most awkward moments ever.

ABC is really gonna milk this unspoiled finale for all it’s worth, huh? On Monday’s “The Bachelor: Women Tell All,” Chris Harrison teased Peter Weber‘s two-part finale next week as one so unpredictable that not a single soul knows how it concludes.
“It is a finale so unexpected, so unprecedented, there is not a single person who knows how Peter’s journey will end,” Harrison stated. “Not even Peter.”
Is this typical Bachelor Nation hyperbole or is there something to it? The fact that the finale has been unspoiled gives it some credence, and Peter, who picked his final two of Hannah Ann Sluss and Madison Prewett on Monday’s episode, confirms there is a basis of truth to it.

Keeping up with The Bachelor without a traditional cable setup has never been easier, but what time do new episodes arrive on Hulu? The streaming service allows viewers to watch the series - along with many, many others - without having an old-fashioned TV setup, but the exact time you can watch the latest Bachelor drama actually depends on what version of Hulu you have.
In recent years, Hulu has introduced a deluxe service, Hulu + Live TV, which is exactly what it sounds like: Hulu's streaming library, plus the ability to "tune in" to live TV on certain partnered channels. If you have this service, you can watch episodes of The Bachelor live as they air on regular TV or on demand at your convenience. Currently priced at $61 per month, the subscription is one of the popular cord-cutting services, since it doesn't require subscribers to wait weeks or months for...

It feels like someone from the “Bachelor” franchise is on “Dancing with the Stars” every season, but in reality (no pun intended), there’s only been eight love-seeking folks who’ve hoofed it on the hardwood in 28 seasons. And Hannah Brown is just the second one to actually win the whole thing.
Here the “Bachelor” franchise track record on “Dancing”:
1. Trista Sutter: Season 1, sixth place (first eliminated)
2. Melissa Rycroft: Season 8, third place; Season 15, won
3. Jake Pavelka: Season 10, seventh place
4. Sean Lowe: Season 16, sixth place
5. Chris Soules: Season 20, fifth place
6. Nick Viall: Season 24, sixth place
7. Joe “Grocery Store Joe” Amabile: Season 27, fifth place
8. Hannah Brown: Season 28, won
Brown joins Rycroft as the only Bachelor Nation stars to win “Dancing,” but Brown is the first titular Bachelor or Bachelorette to prevail. Rycroft was never the Bachelorette and was a last-minute replacement on Season 8, taking Nancy O’Dell...
