Zombies have been a thing in cinema for nearly a century now, and since then, we have seen countless films that employ the flesh-eating monsters to tell various kinds of stories. In this sub-genre, we have seen many high and low budget films from the incredibly popular World War Z to the brilliant 28 Days Later, and while these films are every bit worthy of the praise they get, there are some films that get nearly no praise, as the masses still haven’t heard about them. One of the men, Dave (Fischbach), must race to find his former lover Katie (Tipton) before she succumbs to the strange affliction, and while trying to find answers they meet a nurse in a hospital (Harlow). Filmed primarily in Vancouver in 2021, the show is based on a audio drama of the same name. Fischbach reprises his role.

Peacock on Friday announced premiere dates for Steven Soderbergh’s spy thriller Black Bag and action comedy Love Hurts starring Ke Huy Quan.

Black Bag begins streaming exclusively on Peacock on May 2, with Love Hurts arriving on the service on May 9.

Hailing from Focus Features, Black Bag follows legendary intelligence agents George Woodhouse (Michael Fassbender) and his beloved wife Kathryn (Cate Blanchett). When Kathryn is suspected of betraying the nation, George faces the ultimate test – loyalty to his marriage or his country.

Pierce Brosnan, Regé-Jean Page, Marisa Abela, Naomie Harris, Tom Burke, and Pierce Brosnan also star. Soderbergh directed from a script by David Koepp, with Casey Silver and Gregory Jacobs producing, and Koepp serving as executive producer.

The movie received negative reviews following its release in theaters. Critics gave the action-comedy an abysmal score of 19%, calling out the plot for being "senseless.

The new action movie from Oscar winner and Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan has caused a huge rift between critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The action outing Love Hurts, which hit theaters last week, finds the former Goonie taking the lead as a former hitman-turned-realtor who is dragged back into a life of violence when his former partner returns. But, while critics have mauled the movie, audiences have found a lot to enjoy in this tried-and-tested action tale.

When reviews first emerged, Love Hurts quickly landed a dreaded green splat on the review aggregator site alongside a brutal score of just 19%. In stark contrast, audiences have scored the actioner a much more respective 64% on the Popcornmeter, suggesting that Love Hurts is far more divisive than anyone could have anticipated. Per Variety, DreamWorks Animation's Dog Man is still dominating the box office in its second weekend in theaters, even in spite of the releases of both the action comedy Love Hurts starring Ke Huy Quan and director Josh Ruben's new slasher comedy, Heart Eyes. While Heart Eyes has already brought in over $3.7 million in preview screenings and Friday showings, that only barely outpaced Dog Man's second Friday earnings of $3.2 million. Preview screenings and Friday showings of Love Hurts brought in $2.6 million, with forecasts for the weekend putting it at around $6 million, whereas Dog Man is on track to pass earnings of over $54 million within its first ten days, giving it an $18 million projection for its second weekend in theaters.

February has finally arrived, the month of romance with that big holiday for sweethearts almost “smack dab” in the middle. And naturally, the Hollywood studios are certainly ready to cater to the big occasion, perhaps making a trip to the cinema a fitting finale to an evening of bubbly, flowers, and swanky dinners. Now this year they’re not content to merely release a “swoony” romance or even a riotous “rom-com”. No, moviemakers are mixing things up with the two big releases this weekend. One adds elements of horror flicks and thrillers in Heart Eyes. In another section of the multiplex is this “high-concept hybrid” which sprinkles in some “mushy stuff’ with a a fast and frenetic action crime thriller. Valentine’s Day used to be an occasion for studios to deliver romantic comedies, but that genre, even with the success of last year’s Anyone But You, still seems relegated to streamers, if at all. Instead for the holiday of love this year studios are seeing red — not for Valentines but rather blood. Sony has a gross horror item called Heart Eyes in which as the red-band trailer shows sees one main character done in with a knife thrust into eye in grisly fashion. In Universal’s offering Love Hurts, we see another supporting character eliminated with the exact same graphic demise. Date Night for February 14 this year is turning into Hate Night.

Now a starring vehicle for recent Supporting Oscar winners Key Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), the appropriately titled Love Hurts has been a action script gathering dust for more than two decades.

Love Hurts cements Ke Huy Quan's leading man status in a hilarious action-comedy tailor-made for the Oscar winner's affable charm. He reluctantly beats wisecracking, poetry-spouting, and knife-throwing baddies to bloody pulps while saving the problematic girl of his dreams on Valentine's Day, all while being Milwaukee's top residential real estate agent. A fun supporting ensemble fuels the fist and laugh barrage when the plot runs thin. Sparks don't exactly fly between Quan and co-star Ariana DeBose, but their lack of romantic chemistry is offset by other surprising developments.

Marvin Gable (Quan) cheerily bakes a batch of heart-shaped cookies. He straps on his bike helmet before cycling to a nearby suburb to show his latest house. Marvin isn't happy that someone's defacing his many advertisements on benches and buses around the city. He's convinced the culprit is his top competitor (Drew Scott), who's also showing a house nearby.

An Action...

The last three years have truly been a blessing for Ke Huy Quan. After taking an extended acting hiatus for nearly two decades, the former Gooniesand Indiana Jones star came crashing back into moviegoers' lives with a joyful bang, courtesy of his Oscar-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once. That movie reminded everyone that Quan could be charming, unexpectedly dramatic, and, most notably, a kickass fighter when the situation called for one. Love Hurts, his latest film, gives Quan the chance to do all three with a title he's yet to officially attain in Hollywood: lead actor.

If there's a reason to see Love Hurts, it's Quan, who makes a compelling case for why more films should give him top billing. The rest of the film, however, offers a mixed bag. It has some effective fight scenes that show off the quality of an 87NorthProductions film yet again, and...

You can’t discount the sheer amount of good will that Ke Huy Quan generated when Everything Everywhere All at Once turned him into the Official Comeback Kid of 2022. The narrative read like a true Hollywood success story, even if it was Hollywood that sidelined him in the first place: Former child star turns for-hire stunt coordinator turns scene-stealing ensemble player turns well-deserved Oscar winner. His mix of sunniness and serious screen-fighting chops — has anyone ever wielded a fanny pack with such grace and deadly force? — made him an ideal everyguy action hero.

It’s a perfect encapsulation of the dichotomies of this new effort from 87North, the production company that specializes in action films featuring such unlikely stars as Bob Odenkirk (Nobody) and David Harbour (playing a kickass Santa Claus in Violent Night).

Unfortunately, the company doesn’t fare as well with the Oscar-winning actor from Everything Everywhere All at Once. For all his impressive fighting skills, Quan simply doesn’t look very tough, even when outfitted with slicked-back hair and a mustache in the flashbacks. Lovable, yes; a badass, no.

As if acknowledging that fact, the movie leans more heavily into comedy rather than action, even though it features several impressive fight scenes, including one in a kitchen in which nearly every...

Few recent Hollywood success stories have felt as genuinely heart-warming as “The Goonies” and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” star Ke Huy Quan’s heralded return to acting in 2023’s Best Picture winner “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Quan’s eventual awards run was the stuff of dreams: Giddy reunions with Harrison Ford, incredible stories about his multi-faceted career, beaming appearances at all the big events, all topped off with his very own Best Supporting Actor win at the Oscars. Even better? The role he won for, as the soulful, striving Waymond Wang was a good one, a worthy one, a complex one.

The title of John Wick and Chad Stahelski disciple Jonathan Eusebio’s action rom-com Love Hurts feels like a misnomer, or maybe a red herring. Love is certainly an aspect of the patchy screenplay. For one, the wounds inflicted upon Ke Huy Quan’s apparently happy-go-lucky real estate agent Marvin by the purringly capricious lawyer on the run and object of affection in Ariana DeBose’s Rose catalyze the plot into motion. The studio has been responsible for some of the best action movies of the last decade, namely the John Wick franchise. And in those movies that aren’t quite to that level, you can always count on a handful of signature fight or stunt sequences (Atomic Blonde and its stairwell fight come to mind).

The company has set the bar pretty high for themselves, and for the most part have been able to meet those lofty expectations. With Love Hurts, Jonathan Eusebio’s directorial debut, they hit more high marks with the action and comedy, but the surrounding work leaves something to be desired.

After his Oscar win and Marvel stint, Ke Huy Quan is delving into an action-packed film from director Jonathan Eusebio. The film, titled Love Hurts, has some sleek action choreography, which is not surprising given that Eusebio was the fight coordinator of John Wick. Quan surprises fans with his fighting skills in the trailer of the film and they call him the next Jackie Chan.

Quan’s first breakthrough in Hollywood happened decades ago when he played Short Round in Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones. Quan went on to become a stunt coordinator and largely disappeared from films until Everything Everywhere All at Once put him back into the acting field.

Ke Huy Quan stars in the upcoming action comedy, Love Hurts, which serves as his first-ever leading man role. After winning over audiences with supporting roles in Everything Everywhere All At Once and Loki, Quan recently revealed how he approached leading a set for the first time in his career.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Quan revealed that he channeled Jamie Lee Curtis when it came to how he treated his Love Hurts co-stars. "The very first day on set, one thing was on my mind, because I know how it was done with Harrison Ford, Tom Hiddleston, all of those incredible actors who are always No. 1 on set, and seeing how they treat the entire cast and crew," he said. "So I wanted to make sure that everybody felt loved and welcomed and part of the family. No matter what they do on set, their job is just as important as mine.

Key Huy Quan thinks the last time he was in the same room with most of his “The Goonies” co-stars was at least 20 years ago. Corey Feldman thinks it was more like four decades ago at the film’s Los Angeles premiere in 1985.

Whatever the case may be, Quan was joined Monday at his hand-and-footprint ceremony at the Tcl Chinese Theatre in Hollywood by Feldman, Josh Brolin, Kerri Green, Jeff Cohen and director Chris Columbus. “I had an incredible ‘Goonies’ reunion this morning,” Quan told me Monday night at the premiere of his new action movie “Love Hurts.”

The cast had a virtual fundraising reunion on Zoom during the Covid pandemic.

Ke Huy Quan and Ariana DeBose are both Oscar winners and now they’re starring in a new action movie together!

The award-winning actors stepped out for the premiere of their movie Love Hurts on Monday night (February 3) at the Tcl Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Other cast members in attendance included Daniel Wu, Marshawn Lynch, Mustafa Shakir, Lio Tipton, Rhys Darby, Andre Eriksen, and Sean Astin.

Ke and Sean‘s The Goonies co-stars Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman, and Kerri Green all showed up!

Earlier in the day, Ke was honored with a Handprint & Footprint Ceremony at the Tcl Chinese Theatre, where The Goonies star Josh Brolin spoke on his behalf.
