Zombies have been a thing in cinema for nearly a century now, and since then, we have seen countless films that employ the flesh-eating monsters to tell various kinds of stories. In this sub-genre, we have seen many high and low budget films from the incredibly popular World War Z to the brilliant 28 Days Later, and while these films are every bit worthy of the praise they get, there are some films that get nearly no praise, as the masses still haven’t heard about them. To rectify that, we have compiled a list of the best and most entertaining zombie films that you might not have heard of.

If a sudden malady caused everyone around you to die after falling asleep, how would you stay awake? That's just one of the questions that characters in new science-fiction horror series The Edge of Sleep must find out to survive.
Starring Mark "Markiplier" Fischbach, Lio Tipton (Crazy Stupid Love), Eve Harlow, and Franz Drameh, the show follows two nightwatchmen as they discover that everybody around them has mysteriously died in their sleep.
One of the men, Dave (Fischbach), must race to find his former lover Katie (Tipton) before she succumbs to the strange affliction, and while trying to find answers they meet a nurse in a hospital (Harlow). Filmed primarily in Vancouver in 2021, the show is based on a audio drama of the same name. Fischbach reprises his role.

Ke Huy Quan turns Jackie Chan in the action comedy Love Hurts, from producer David Leitch (John Wick), whose production company 87North also made Nobody and Violent Night. Admittedly, the film has its fair share of problems, but Quan’s likeability and some decent fight scenes paper over a lot of the flaws.
Recent Oscar-winner Quan plays mild-mannered estate agent Marvin Gable, who, just like mild-mannered Bob Odenkirk in Nobody, turns out to have a secret violent past, in this case as a deadly killer, working for his gangster brother Knuckles (Daniel Wu). Marvin walked away from that life after Knuckles ordered him to kill Rose (recent Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose), the woman he loved, whereupon he faked her death,...

Everything Everywhere All At Once's Ke Huy Quan has not slowed down since winning his first-ever Academy Award for the Daniels' iconic 2022 film. Ke Huy Quan‘s leading debut with Love Hurts may not have blazed as hot as his comeback in Everything, Everywhere All at Once, but it’s certainly the type of throwback movie that is rarely seen nowadays. It’s a simple, fun, goofy little action comedy that’s brisk enough for an entertaining casual viewing and it doesn’t try to be anything more. Quan’s charm and his action prowess really come through and it’s cool to see him step up into the lead role.

The Romantic-Comedy genre has served cheeseballs to audiences who have often flocked to them for a pat on the back for years. It has not only provided the audience with the much-needed hope that love is around the corner but has also entertained them with neatly packed humor that makes a dolly out of life’s most lovable moments. However, with changing times, the genre has undergone a makeover of sorts. More films have established the idea of a rom-com but have twisted the narrative to serve the greater good. Subverting the genre has thus become a common trait. Indie films of late have often done wonders within the genre itself. The best romantic comedy movies of the decade have thus come out from the indie cinema. 24 of those are as follows:

Oscar-nominated actor and filmmaker James Franco is making somewhat of a return to the spotlight with a few "comeback" films in the works, following a period away from the public eye once his image became shrouded in controversy in recent years. Before any allegations against him surfaced, Franco was busy directing and starring in his own movies, including one that has yet to be released. Ke Huy Quan has had a long career in Hollywood, complete with an Oscar. However, his latest action-comedy marks his first role as a leading man, leaving audiences and the critics very divided.
Love Hurts stars Quan as an unlikely threat. He plays Marvin Gable, a realtor who seems to be just a regular person, but things get more complicated when he gets a letter from Rose, his former partner-in-crime whom he had left for dead. The unexpected meeting leads Marvin back into a world of chaos and danger. The movie hit theaters on Feb. 7, and has since received a very divisive Rotten Tomatoes score.

The new action movie from Oscar winner and Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan has caused a huge rift between critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The action outing Love Hurts, which hit theaters last week, finds the former Goonie taking the lead as a former hitman-turned-realtor who is dragged back into a life of violence when his former partner returns. But, while critics have mauled the movie, audiences have found a lot to enjoy in this tried-and-tested action tale.
When reviews first emerged, Love Hurts quickly landed a dreaded green splat on the review aggregator site alongside a brutal score of just 19%. In stark contrast, audiences have scored the actioner a much more respective 64% on the Popcornmeter, suggesting that Love Hurts is far more divisive than anyone could have anticipated. Some of the more savage reviews come courtesy of Robert Daniels of RogerEbert.com and Wendy Ide of The Observer.

You may already know that Oscar-winners Ke Huy Quan (the best part of Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) lead the charge in Love Hurts, which has been released just in time for the Valentine's Day leadup. But there's and impressive number of other beloved performers that help round out the ensemble as well — Marshawn Lynch, Sean Astin, Rhys Darby, Cam Gigandet. Arguably better than them all are Lio Tipton as a receptionist and Mustafa Shakir (Ghosted) as a mercenary. In fact, Tipton has a funny little dynamic opposite Shakir in their new action-comedy, and MovieWeb recently caught up with them to learn more.

February has finally arrived, the month of romance with that big holiday for sweethearts almost “smack dab” in the middle. And naturally, the Hollywood studios are certainly ready to cater to the big occasion, perhaps making a trip to the cinema a fitting finale to an evening of bubbly, flowers, and swanky dinners. Now this year they’re not content to merely release a “swoony” romance or even a riotous “rom-com”. No, moviemakers are mixing things up with the two big releases this weekend. One adds elements of horror flicks and thrillers in Heart Eyes. In another section of the multiplex is this “high-concept hybrid” which sprinkles in some “mushy stuff’ with a a fast and frenetic action crime thriller. And with all the roundhouse kicks and furious fists, it’s clear, and not an understatement, that Love Hurts.

Chicago – Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan positions himself as a worthy successor to Jackie Chan in the likable if featherweight action film “Love Hurts.” Quan stars as a former underworld enforcer who leaves his old life behind to become a realtor in Milwaukee. All is going well until his old partner in crime Rose (Ariana DeBose) resurfaces, with some contract killers on her tail.
That plot which involves Quan’s crime lord brother Knuckles (Daniel Wu), and some stolen cash, which is really just an excuse to move things along to the next fight scene. Since this is a Valentine’s day movie, in addition to an ass kicking scenario, one of the assassins sent to hunt down Rose is also a poet named The Raven (Mustafa Shakir).
After getting knocked out in Quan’s realtor office, The Raven falls for Quan’s burnt out assistant Ashley (Lio Tipton). Two...

Ke Huy Quan may have been in the entertainment industry for over 40 years since making his memorable debut as a child actor in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies in the following year. His acting career didn’t take off as expected, leading him to shift into working behind the scenes, notably as a stunt choreographer in X-Men and The One.
Then along came the eventual Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once, which marked his significant return to acting, and the rest, as they say, is history. Fortune certainly favors the bold, for such persons as Ke Huy Quan, whose acting comeback finally granted him with a rare leading role in Love Hurts.
Made under the 87North Productions banner with David Leitch serving as one of the co-producers, the movie allows Quan to flex his acting muscles and martial arts skills, showcasing the 53-year-old actor’s...

Marvin Gable lives a simple but enjoyable life. He is a successful realtor, he is well-liked by his co-workers, and he loves fulfilling the dreams of his customers to own homes. His job gives his life meaning.
But one day Marvin receives a mysterious Valentine’s Day card that shakes him to his core. It is from Rose, a woman from his dark past. She has been in hiding for years, but now she’s back and apparently out for revenge. Matters are complicated by the fact that Marvin was secretly in love with Rose.
Marvin’s concern is immediately validated as a hired killer named The Raven appears in his office demanding to know where Rose is. He was sent by Marvin’s crime boss brother to kill her.
Unwilling to cooperate with his brother or his assassins, Marvin attempts to go on the run. But soon enough he...

Valentine’s Day used to be an occasion for studios to deliver romantic comedies, but that genre, even with the success of last year’s Anyone But You, still seems relegated to streamers, if at all. Instead for the holiday of love this year studios are seeing red — not for Valentines but rather blood. Sony has a gross horror item called Heart Eyes in which as the red-band trailer shows sees one main character done in with a knife thrust into eye in grisly fashion. In Universal’s offering Love Hurts, we see another supporting character eliminated with the exact same graphic demise. Date Night for February 14 this year is turning into Hate Night.
Now a starring vehicle for recent Supporting Oscar winners Key Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), the appropriately titled Love Hurts has been a action script gathering dust for more than two decades.

Love Hurts cements Ke Huy Quan's leading man status in a hilarious action-comedy tailor-made for the Oscar winner's affable charm. He reluctantly beats wisecracking, poetry-spouting, and knife-throwing baddies to bloody pulps while saving the problematic girl of his dreams on Valentine's Day, all while being Milwaukee's top residential real estate agent. A fun supporting ensemble fuels the fist and laugh barrage when the plot runs thin. Sparks don't exactly fly between Quan and co-star Ariana DeBose, but their lack of romantic chemistry is offset by other surprising developments.
Marvin Gable (Quan) cheerily bakes a batch of heart-shaped cookies. He straps on his bike helmet before cycling to a nearby suburb to show his latest house. Marvin isn't happy that someone's defacing his many advertisements on benches and buses around the city. He's convinced the culprit is his top competitor (Drew Scott), who's also showing a house nearby.

The last three years have truly been a blessing for Ke Huy Quan. After taking an extended acting hiatus for nearly two decades, the former Gooniesand Indiana Jones star came crashing back into moviegoers' lives with a joyful bang, courtesy of his Oscar-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once. That movie reminded everyone that Quan could be charming, unexpectedly dramatic, and, most notably, a kickass fighter when the situation called for one. Love Hurts, his latest film, gives Quan the chance to do all three with a title he's yet to officially attain in Hollywood: lead actor.
If there's a reason to see Love Hurts, it's Quan, who makes a compelling case for why more films should give him top billing. The rest of the film, however, offers a mixed bag. It has some effective fight scenes that show off the quality of an 87NorthProductions film yet again, and...

You can’t discount the sheer amount of good will that Ke Huy Quan generated when Everything Everywhere All at Once turned him into the Official Comeback Kid of 2022. The narrative read like a true Hollywood success story, even if it was Hollywood that sidelined him in the first place: Former child star turns for-hire stunt coordinator turns scene-stealing ensemble player turns well-deserved Oscar winner. His mix of sunniness and serious screen-fighting chops — has anyone ever wielded a fanny pack with such grace and deadly force? — made him an ideal everyguy action hero.

The poster for Love Hurts shows a menacing-looking Ke Huy Quan staring directly into the camera, wearing a cute, heart-emblazoned sweater as Valentine’s Day candies swirl around him. It’s a perfect encapsulation of the dichotomies of this new effort from 87North, the production company that specializes in action films featuring such unlikely stars as Bob Odenkirk (Nobody) and David Harbour (playing a kickass Santa Claus in Violent Night).
Unfortunately, the company doesn’t fare as well with the Oscar-winning actor from Everything Everywhere All at Once. For all his impressive fighting skills, Quan simply doesn’t look very tough, even when outfitted with slicked-back hair and a mustache in the flashbacks. Lovable, yes; a badass, no.

Ouch.
Few recent Hollywood success stories have felt as genuinely heart-warming as “The Goonies” and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” star Ke Huy Quan’s heralded return to acting in 2023’s Best Picture winner “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Quan’s eventual awards run was the stuff of dreams: Giddy reunions with Harrison Ford, incredible stories about his multi-faceted career, beaming appearances at all the big events, all topped off with his very own Best Supporting Actor win at the Oscars. Even better? The role he won for, as the soulful, striving Waymond Wang was a good one, a worthy one, a complex one.
So that Quan would become a hot commodity again was both totally correct and completely expected. Who wouldn’t want to spend more time with this star? And while the actor has enjoyed consistent work since his big win, Jonathan Eusebio’s “Love Hurts...

The title of John Wick and Chad Stahelski disciple Jonathan Eusebio’s action rom-com Love Hurts feels like a misnomer, or maybe a red herring. Love is certainly an aspect of the patchy screenplay. For one, the wounds inflicted upon Ke Huy Quan’s apparently happy-go-lucky real estate agent Marvin by the purringly capricious lawyer on the run and object of affection in Ariana DeBose’s Rose catalyze the plot into motion. But the film is perhaps most engaging when it, inadvertently or otherwise, parses Quan’s newfound success since winning an Academy Award for Everything Everywhere All at Once as a kind of meta-text.
The meta-movie ingredients of Love Hurts are unmistakable. Marvin is running away from his past. He lives a double life. He’s ultra-protective of the real-estate award that he’s given toward the start of the film. And the finale takes place in a video...

Love Hurts is the latest production from David Leitch and Kelly McCormick’s 87North Productions. The studio has been responsible for some of the best action movies of the last decade, namely the John Wick franchise. And in those movies that aren’t quite to that level, you can always count on a handful of signature fight or stunt sequences (Atomic Blonde and its stairwell fight come to mind).

After his Oscar win and Marvel stint, Ke Huy Quan is delving into an action-packed film from director Jonathan Eusebio. The film, titled Love Hurts, has some sleek action choreography, which is not surprising given that Eusebio was the fight coordinator of John Wick. Quan surprises fans with his fighting skills in the trailer of the film and they call him the next Jackie Chan.

Ke Huy Quan stars in the upcoming action comedy, Love Hurts, which serves as his first-ever leading man role. After winning over audiences with supporting roles in Everything Everywhere All At Once and Loki, Quan recently revealed how he approached leading a set for the first time in his career.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Quan revealed that he channeled Jamie Lee Curtis when it came to how he treated his Love Hurts co-stars. "The very first day on set, one thing was on my mind, because I know how it was done with Harrison Ford, Tom Hiddleston, all of those incredible actors who are always No. 1 on set, and seeing how they treat the entire cast and crew," he said. "So I wanted to make sure that everybody felt loved and welcomed and part of the family. No matter what they do on set, their job is just as important as mine.

Key Huy Quan thinks the last time he was in the same room with most of his “The Goonies” co-stars was at least 20 years ago. Corey Feldman thinks it was more like four decades ago at the film’s Los Angeles premiere in 1985.

The most frustrating thing about today's streaming culture is that even the best and most promising shows can and will fall through the cracks because streaming services have little to no interest in distributing their own entertainment. Take The Edge of Sleep, for instance. The series is based on the popular radio play-styled podcast of the same name that starred none other than Markiplier, one of the biggest online celebrities on Earth. Despite this pedigree, the podcast's adaptation flew under most people's radars ever since it was uploaded onto Prime Video's submission service, Prime Video Direct.
This is a pity since the show in question is a good acting debut from a relative newcomer in the world of TV and filmmaking. More importantly, it's a solid work of psychological horror. For lack of better words, The Edge of Sleep is a bona fide sleeper hit. By no fault of Markiplier's,...

Love Hurts, marking Ke Huy Quan's first leading role in Hollywood, is set to hit theaters next month. However, Quan almost didn't star in the upcoming action-comedy, revealing in a recent interview that he initially had a hard time imagining himself as Love Hurts protagonist Marvin Gamble.
Speaking with Empire, Quan explained that he couldn't envision himself as Gamble, believing the role should instead be played by the likes of Jason Statham or Dwayne Johnson.
