Matt Tramel(I)
- Actor
- Producer
- Additional Crew
Matthew Shane Tramel was perhaps always destined for the screen--his name itself conjured from two iconic Hollywood cowboys: Matt of "Gunsmoke (1955)" and Shane of "L'Homme des vallées perdues (1953)". And much like these wandering cowpokes of legend, his journey has taken him into uncharted territory time and time again.
His pursuits began in Texas, where he was a curious and energetic kid with a vivid imagination. He devoured books, immersed himself in movies, and put on silly skits and interactive games for family, friends, and neighbors. Though his early strengths in math and science led him to Rice University for civil engineering, the call of performance was never far off. He soon found himself on a more "edutainment"-focused track, delivering funny-yet-informative science presentations for wide-eyed school kids and families at the J.P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science. He also regularly performed improv professionally with ComedySportz Houston and later studied the craft of acting for film at the Extra Mile Acting Workshop in North Hollywood.
Through workshops, classes, theater productions, professional improv, and roles in indie shorts and features, Matt continued to hone his skills. He studied with some great mentors in multiple disciplines including Mark Ramont (theatre), Dianah Dulaney (improv), and Glenn Morshower (film and television). Along the way, he even picked up a few more creative callings in photography, writing, and tabletop roleplaying.
Like any good cowboy, Matt continues to wander the creative landscape of Hollywood, rolling from one project to the next with an open mind, a good story, and a steady gaze toward the sunset.
