Pirie Martin is a multi-award winning filmmaker, writer and artist based in Adelaide, South Australia. In 2010 he co-founded 'Kessel Run Productions' producing corporate & commercial media for 11 years before committing himself to narrative film production, fiction novels, and his art practice.
Pirie's debut feature 'Psychosis' (2023) had its world premiere at the prestigious Popcorn Frights Film Festival where it was nominated Best Feature, before going on to secure many more accolades including a Jury Prize for Best Feature at the Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival, Best Experimental Horror at HorrorFest International, Best Horror Feature and Best Horror Screenplay at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival. Reviewers have praised 'Psychosis,' comparing Pirie's style to the early work of David Lynch and Darren Aronofsky.
His unique creative style has been influenced by early 20th century Modernist film movements, Structuralism, Defamiliarization, and Metafiction - with a healthy dose of inspiration from more mainstream entertainment idols such as Steven Spielberg and James Cameron.
Pirie has also co-produced, shot, and edited a number of acclaimed short films, accumulating a combined total of 5 awards and 4 nominations at 16 international film festivals. Pirie's own short, 'Andy's Venture' (2017) was nominated 'Best Dark Comedy' at the 2017 Houston Comedy Film Festival, followed by a Special Mention at The 2018 London Worldwide Comedy Festival.
