“Wicked” star Marissa Bode and Tony nominee Julia Lester are among the actors lending their talents to the short films by Inevitable Foundation’s Visionary Fellowship filmmakers.

The year-long program provides disabled filmmakers with the funding, community and guidance to create a short film that could eventually be made into their debut feature. The inaugural cohort of fellows — Zayre Ferrer, Monica Lucas, Filipe Coutinho, Alys Murray and Katherine Craft — each received $55,000 in funding for their short film, as well as a production grant, access to an experienced crew, health insurance, marketing support and financial aid for access and travel.

Production on the shorts is underway in neighborhoods across Los Angeles and will continue through the end of June. Casting is by Danielle Pretsfelder Demchick, CSA, and Elizabeth Hay, CSA.

Spearheaded by the returning Chip Lynn as the head writer, both Power Rangers Dino Charge and Power Rangers Dino Supercharge feature strong stories, a wonderful cast, awesome Zord action, and a host of lovable characters.

Dino Charge is one of the best Power Rangers seasons of the 2010s, with some of the strongest episodes. Characters like Tyler, Shelby, Ivan, and Koda are all-time great Rangers, while Sledge and Heckyl rank among the franchise's best villains, with all of them receiving spectacular storylines. Motel Destino, directed by Karim Aïnouz, begins with a burst of energy and intrigue, setting up a promising neo-noir thriller set against the vibrant backdrop of Northeastern Brazil. The brothers are tasked with assassinating a Frenchman in exchange for freedom from their debt. The shark horror film series 47 Meters Down will return with a new installment. The film will be the most ambitious project in the horror franchise.

47 Meters Down premiered in 2017, following two sisters who go cage diving during a holiday in Mexico. It starred This Is Us' Mandy Moore and The Vampire Diaries' Claire Holt in the leading roles. A sequel followed two years later called 47 Meters Down: Uncaged with an entirely new cast. The second installment starred Sophie Nlisse, Corinne Foxx, Brianne Tju, Sistine Stallone, Davi Santos, Khylin Rhambo, Brec Bassinger, Nia Long, and John Corbett. CBS has finally dropped the official trailer for Good Sam, its latest medical drama.

The show finds Dr. Sam Griffith (Sophia Bush) taking on the role of Chief of Surgery when her father, Dr. Rob Griffith (Jason Isaacs), falls into a coma.

The drama picks up when Rob wakes up months later intending to resume his career where he left off.

“Sam is tasked with supervising this egotistical expert with a scalpel who never acknowledged her stellar talent,” reads the official logline for the project.

Sam's father "defies Sam’s authority and challenges her medical expertise, the big question becomes whether this father and daughter will ever be able to mend their own relationship as expertly as they heal the hearts of their patients.”

It is a compelling hook, but the success will all come down to whether the show manages to portray the fraught relationship between the father and daughter well.

CBS is handing out series orders!

While the network is passing on Patrick Dempsey's political drama, Ways and Means, and two others, they picked up a comedy and a drama.

Another potential series, Only True Lies, has been pushed off-cycle but is still in contention.

A multicamera comedy titled Smallwood starting Pete Holmes has been given the greenlight.

It comes from executive producers David Hollander and Brian D'Arcy James, and the pilot was directed by Mark Cendrowski.

Holmes stars as an ordinary guy who turns to pro bowling to support his family after being laid off from the Gm factory.

Chi McBride and Katie Lowes costar.

Smallwood, from CBS Studios, seems like a good fit for Holmes.

He previously created and starred on Crashing that aired on HBO from 2017-19.

The Sophia Bush pilot, Good Sam, also got the greenlight.

Medical drama Good Sam, starring Sophia Bush, and bowling comedy Smallwood fronted by Pete Holmes have been picked up to series by CBS.

The pick-ups come ahead of CBS’ upfronts on Wednesday and follow a busy day of pick-ups, renewals and cancellations at ABC and NBC.

Good Sam and Smallwood are expected to be for fall, as per traditional CBS practice, but that has yet to be confirmed.

However, they won’t be joined on the schedule by CBS’ other three pilots; political drama Ways & Means, starring Patrick Dempsey, the Sarah Cooper/ Cindy Chupack single-camera comedy and Welcome To Georgia, starring Hannah Simone and Elizabeth Hurley, have all been passed on.

“Smallwood,” based on the real-life story of professional bowler Tom Smallwood, stars Pete Holmes, Chi McBride and Katie Lowes. Mark Gross is executive producing and writing, with David Hollander and Brian D’Arcy James also exec producing and Mark Cendrowski directing. The comedy follows a seemingly ordinary man who, after being laid off from his assembly line job at the Gm factory, decides to provide for his family by pursuing his dream of becoming a pro bowler.

“Good Sam,” meanwhile, stars Sophia Bush, Jason Isaacs, Edwin Hodge, Skye P. Marshall, Michael Stahl-David, Davi Santos, Omar Maskati and Wendy Crewson. Katie Welch is executive producing and writing, with Jennie Snyder Urman also serving as exec producer and Joanna Klein exec producing for Sutton St. Productions. Tamra Davis is exec producing and directing the pilot.

CBS has ordered a pair of series for the 2021-22 season, the comedy “Smallwood” and medical drama “Good Sam.”
