It follows the young and ambitious staff who cater to the demands of the ultra-wealthy while managing their own relationships.

The show comes from Ronde Media, which was among the producers of Netflix’s Territory, and is for Australian streamer Binge. Feg made it a debut third-party acquisition for a TV series in May last year.

Netflix's New Yellowstone Competitor Gets Canceled After 1 Season
Image
It's going to be one season and done for the Australian neo-Western series Territory on Netflix. While the show may have been envisioned as a new Yellowstone, it will not be reaching the same levels of success.

C21 Media has reported that Territory has been canceled at Netflix after one season. Reportedly, the plan was to continue with a second season, which makes sense, given how the freshman season concluded with a cliffhanger ending. The cast and crew were informed weeks ago that Territory wouldn't be getting a second season, and Netflix has now confirmed the news after the news started hitting the press.

Netflix Cancels 'Yellowstone'-Style Series 'Territory' After Just One Season
Image
The merciless axe of Netflix falls again, this time on the Yellowstone-esque series, Territory. The Australian neo-western has been cancelled after just one season (adding itself to the streamer’s ever-growing list), with the outlet C21 Media confirming the news. Unfortunately, the series will now not return for its planned second season, despite Territory Season 1 earning an impressive score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Created by Ben Davies and Timothy Lee, and starring an ensemble cast that includes Anna Torv, Michael Dorman, Robert Taylor, and Sam Corlett (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Territory was one of the many current attempts to match the success of Paramount’s Yellowstone, with Territory telling the tale of the world’s largest cattle station, Marianne Station, which, when left without an owner, sees the most powerful factions in the Australian outback, including miners, landowners, cowboys and gangsters, start preparing their weapons.

In a joint statement,...

Netflix cancels its best attempt at Yellowstone after one season, and it's a shame
Image
Netflix just canceled its best answer yet to Yellowstone and it may be a mistake!

There's an old rule in television that when a show is a hit, you're going to see a lot of copycats trying to capture the same success. Thus, when Yellowstone became a sensation, it's no shock that other streamers would try their own shows of a family of ranchers fighting for control.

Among them was Territory, an Australian series that was released globally in October 2024. The six-episode series was pushed well with hopes of a second year.

Sadly, that won't happen as C21 Media confirms the series won't be returning for a second year. In a rarity, Netflix issued a statement on the cancellation from Que Min Luu, Netflix's director of content for Australia and New Zealand.

"We are incredibly thankful to have had the chance to work with the wonderful cast and production team...

Australian Series ‘Territory’ Canceled at Netflix; Won’t Return for Season 2
Image
Picture: Netflix

Netflix’s recent shot at taking the Yellowstone crown with its Australian neo-western series Territory has come to an end after only one season. Australian outlets and C21 Media report today that the show has been canceled and will not be returning for a second season.

Released on Netflix globally in late October 2024, the big Australian epic set in the outback sees rival factions all vying for control of the Lawson cattle station, which is now leaderless and without an heir to inherit it. It scored positive reviews from audiences and critics, although it didn’t hit it big in the Netflix top 10s, as we’ll come onto in a second.

Anna Torv led the cast, playing Emily Lawson alongside Robert Taylor, Michael Dorman, Sam Corlett, and Philippa Northeast. The series was created by Timothy Lee and Ben Davies with Easy Tiger Productions and Ronde Media producing.

'Landman' Fans Can Find the Perfect Western Replacement Series on Netflix
Image
Quick LinksWhat Is Netflix's 'Territory' About? What Makes 'Territory' Worth Watching?

Created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman arrived on Paramount+ in November 2024 and immediately became one of the platform’s most-watched shows. The series takes place in the oilfields of West Texas, where an oil boom is growing, and every fortune-seeking roughneck and billionaire wants a piece of the pie. The series follows Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton), a crisis executive at a fictional oil company called M-Tex Oil. Despite being a divorced alcoholic who’s drowning in debt, no one knows the business like he does. On par with many of Sheridan’s other shows, Landman offers a rugged narrative about salt-of-the-earth type men and their families.

With the show’s Season 1 finale already in the bag, viewers are undoubtedly looking for their next replacement to fill the Sheridan-verse void. Seeing as his Yellowstone spinoff,...

Netflixs 'Territory' Season 2 Should Feature One Fan-Favorite Character
Image
Quick Links What Is 'Territory' About? Who Is Nolan Brannock in 'Territory?' Why 'Territory' Season 2 Needs More Nolan, Explained

New to Netflix on October 24, 2024, Territory is an Australian neo-Western TV series that enjoyed popular success on the platform. Directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek), the six-part series concerns the biggest global cattle farm, Marianne Station, and the Lawson family, who have controlled it for generations. When the Lawsons launch a search for the next heir to run the ranch, the show resembles a dramatic mix of Succession and Yellowstone as cut-throat family members, friends, and acquaintances vie for the business.

While yet to be officially renewed by Netflix, one character has become more popular than any among Territory fans. If the show continues on Netflix beyond Season 1, the ambitious Native American Nolan Brannock (Clarence Ryan) needs to be featured more often. Attempting to start his own cattle business,...

Netflix's 6-Episode Western Drama Is Being Called The Australian Yellowstone
Image
The romanticized notion of the cowboy, of ranchers who live by their own rules and represent the very idea of freedom, is something shared between Americans and Australians. Around the middle of the 19th century, both countries had an untamed "wild west" that spanned as far as the eye could see, and cattle ranching became a way to "settle" those wild lands. There's a reason why there are so many great Australian westerns, from Jennifer Kent's "The Nightingale" to John Hillcoat's "The Proposition," and those cowboy stories have turned into ranching stories. So of course the land Down Under is getting in on the latest and greatest cowboy-flavored fad, with a Netflix miniseries that clearly looks to be Australia's answer to the Taylor Sheridan juggernaut "Yellowstone."

That show is the six-episode miniseries "Territory," created by Australian outback drama experts Timothy Lee (the writer behind "Mystery Road") and Ben Davies,...

Netflix's Territory Ending, Explained
Image
Netflix's Territory made its debut on October 24, 2024. Since then, it has rocketed onto the streamer's Global Top 10 list, claiming the third spot for itself. Directed by Greg McLean, the maiden season of the series comprises six action-packed episodes, each spanning approximately an hour. In the few days since its release, the action and drama-packed series is already being hailed as Australia's answer to Yellowstone.

With Daniel Lawson (Jake Ryan), the heir to Marianne Station, the largest cattle station in Australia and a billion-dollar empire, found dead, the future of the cattle station is thrown into chaos. Family patriarch Colin Lawson (Robert Taylor) is tasked with choosing a new successor, a charge which proves itself to be anything but easy. In the wake of Daniel's death, multiple parties grapple for control of the station, with each doing all they can to oust the other and establish their claim on Marianne Station.

Image
Netflix's new series, Territory, offers a terrific combination of Yellowstone's plot and Mad Max's aesthetic. Image
Territory is Australias answer to Yellowstone according to many viewers of the new hit series on Netflix. Having released on Friday, the series took less than a day to secure a place at the top of the Netflix global chart, and it seems like it is drawing plenty of praise from both audiences and critics.

The short-seasoned neo-western features a familiar sounding power struggle among a family dynasty all looking to take control of a valuable business. The show is centered on events set around the Marianne Station, the largest cattle station in the world, when it becomes a battleground after the death of its owner, who leaves no clear successor. ‘Territory’ Netflix Review: Aussie Family Drama Is A Chore To Get Through
Image
During the era of network television, shows used to have a shelf-life of at least 10 seasons. Some TV series that were made before the Ott boom continue to enjoy the freedom to adapt and improve over the course of many years, but the same can’t be said about made-for-ott shows, especially the ones on Netflix. Yes, “guilty pleasure content” like Emily in Paris and Elite has benefited from the hate-watch syndrome. However, a lot of really good shows have been unceremoniously axed by the streaming platform before they could find their audience. The one cancellation that hurt viewers the most was Mindhunter. Now, ever since its termination, fans have been clamoring for David Fincher, Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv, and the rest of the team to come together for at least one more season. Like the monkey’s paw curling effect, they did return to Netflix, but just via different projects.

In further signs of green shoots a year on from Jensen’s departure, operating income, while still in the red, was only minus SEK70M, compared to minus SEK273M in Q2 2023. Unhappy return to Brighton for Chelsea boss Potter in Premier League
Image
London, Oct 30 (Ians) Graham Potter suffered an unhappy return as he led his Chelsea side to Brighton, just seven weeks after swapping the south-coast club for south-west London.

Brighton won 4-1 to claim their first win under Potter’s replacement, Roberto De Zerbi, with two own goals not helping Chelsea’s cause.

Leandro Trossard fired Brighton in front in the fifth minute before first Ruben Loftus-Cheek and then Trevoh Chalobah turned crosses into their own net to make it 3-0 before halftime, reports Xinhua.

Kai Havertz gave Chelsea hope with a 48th minute shot, but Brighton defended well and Pascal Gross scored Brighton’s fourth goal in second half injury time.

Kevin de Bruyne scored the only goal of the game as Manchester City won 1-0 away to Leicester City to go top of the table ahead of Arsenal’s game on Sunday.
