Every society has its gladiators, and every so often, one wanders out of the arena and into the streets, unsure what to do with their violent talents. In K.O., the arena is the Mma octagon and the gladiator is Bastien, portrayed by the actual UFC heavyweight Ciryl Gane in a casting choice that blurs the line between performance and simple, intimidating presence.
The film’s central conceit places this mountain of a man, whose fists are lethal weapons in a sanctioned space, into the chaotic underworld of Marseille. Here, his formidable physical power is matched only by the crushing weight of his guilt.
Bastien is a champion disgraced by a fatal error, haunted by a death he caused in the ring. This sent him into a kind of monastic exile, working at a quarry in a perfectly on-the-nose bit of Sisyphean punishment for the streaming age. His quiet, self-flagellating...

After switching from being a DVD-by-mail movie rental service, Netflix became even more popular as a streaming service for other studios, before joining them with original films and series. Although its initial focus was English series, following the resounding success of Squid Game, Netflix continued expanding its foreign-language content.
Since its expansion, Netflix has experienced a lot of success with several French titles, including the creature feature Under Paris, the action film Ad Vitam, and more. The recently released revenge thriller K.O. continues the same trend. After its recent release on the platform,K.O. debuted with strong numbers and became an instant hit, according to Tudum.
K.O. debuted on Netflix on June 6, and it had only two days to make an impact on the streaming service before Netflix stopped the count for the week between June 2 and 8. An impact it did because the French revenge thriller debuted in second place...

Netflix’s K.O. (2025), directed by Antoine Blossier, is a gritty French-language action thriller that delivers a potent mix of bone-crunching fight sequences, underworld drama, and a surprisingly emotional core. It follows Bastien (played by Mma fighter Ciryl Gane), a disgraced former champion haunted by a fatal mistake. When the widow of the man he killed reaches out for help finding her missing son, Bastien embarks on a violent journey of redemption alongside hard-boiled police captain Kenza (Alice Belaïdi). Set against the neon-soaked streets of Marseille, K.O. blends intense close-quarter combat with themes of vengeance, grief, and atonement.
If K.O. got your adrenaline pumping and you’re looking for more movies like Ko, then you’re in luck. The following eight films—available on Netflix and other platforms—share the same DNA: relentless action, morally complex heroes, and stylishly gritty urban violence. Whether it’s ex-cons on a path to redemption,...

“K.O.” is a potent mix of action, thriller, drama, and martial arts. The film, a Franco-Belgian co-production, underscores a broader trend in the streaming landscape: a notable investment in localized European content, particularly within the action genre.
Spearheading “K.O.” is the formidable presence of Ciryl Gane, a prominent Mma fighter cast in the lead role. Gane’s involvement not only brings an inherent physical credibility to the film’s martial arts elements but also has the potential to draw in his considerable fanbase from the world of combat sports. His growing filmography suggests this is more than a fleeting appearance, marking a serious foray into acting.
