Tickets will go on sale today for the one-night-only special concert A Chorus Line Official 50th Anniversary Celebration, taking place on Sunday, July 27 at 7:30 pm at Broadway’s Shubert Theatre. It was also announced that Nick Adams, Sarah Bowden, and Jay Armstrong Johnson have joined the cast. The event is presented by the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), along with Tony Award-winning producers Christopher Ketner and Hunter Regian. The 65th Annual Drama Desk Awards honoring the best in New York theater were announced Saturday night, with The Inheritance being named Outstanding Play and A Strange Loop taking the trophy for Outstanding Musical.

The remote ceremony was hosted by Frank Dilella. Normally, the awards are announced at a gathering of theater artists and critics in New York City. But this year, the gathering was replaced by a pre-recorded ceremony because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The awards show had initially been scheduled to air May 31, but was postponed due to the Black Lives Matter protests in New York City.

Tonight’s ceremony aired on NY1 and streamed on NY1.com and DramaDeskAwards.com. The Drama Desk Awards recipients were decided by theater critics, journalists, editors and publishers covering theater. Read the complete list of winners below.

The Tony Awards and Dress Circle Publishing announce a special fan experience at the Tony Awards Pop-Up Shop. Author and musical theater historian Jennifer Ashley Tepper will be joined by Broadway favorites Jay Armstrong Johnson On The Town, Amanda Green Hands On A Hardbody, and Jim Walton On The Twentieth Century who will be reading excerpts from The Untold Stories of Broadway Volume 2, on Thursday, May 21st from 530 - 630Pm. The Tony Awards Pop-Up Shop is located at the Paramount Hotel and is open daily to visitors.

Seymour’s in Brooklyn was buzzing Nov. 10 as New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Media & Entertainment Commissioner Cynthia López honored some of the city’s most influential artists and entertainment industry professionals at the Made in NY Awards. The 2014 honorees included Steve Buscemi, Louis C.K., Neil Patrick Harris, Albert Maysles (who was awarded the lifetime achievement award), Stanley Nelson, Rosie Perez, the Producers Guild of America, Jane Raab, and Huge, the Brooklyn-based digital agency. Just last week, On the Town returned to Broadway in a revival directed by John Rando, which is running at the Lyric Theatre. Before Alysha Umphress and Jay Armstrong Johnson took on the iconic roles of Hildy and Chip, Lea DeLaria and Jesse Tyler Ferguson played them in the 1998 Broadway revival.
