School Pride: NBC TV Series Cancelled; No Season Two
Last fall NBC aired a new reality series called School Pride. Though the show might have been made with noble intentions, it didn't attract many viewers. It's now been cancelled.

School Pride focuses on communities that come together to renovate their broken and aging public schools. The series follows parents, teachers, and students as they roll up their sleeves to make some positive changes in their hometowns. The TV series' hosts are Susie Castillo, Jacob Soboroff, Tom Stroup, and Kym Whitley.

The premiere of School Pride attracted a tiny 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.90 million total viewers. That put it in third place in the timeslot, tying with a repeat of No Ordinary Family on ABC.

As bad as the debut was, the ratings for subsequent episodes went even lower, attracting as little as a 0.6 rating in...

'School Pride': NBC's new renovation show inspires hope for the next generation
The educational system and its failures and successes are always relevant, but lately our nation's schools have been moved to the forefront of our pop-culture sensibilities with David Guggenheim's disheartening documentary, "Waiting for Superman." In promoting the new film, Guggenheim showed us the worst of our schools -- highlighting everything from budget problems to unqualified teachers.

NBC's brand-new renovation show, "School Pride," hopes to inspire some hope in a seemingly hopeless situation. "There are endless problems with the education system in this country - I'm not trying to pretend there aren't," executive producer Denise Cramsey tells Zap2it. "But the one thing we found in 'School Pride' is that there's a lot to be positive about. There are really great teachers, and there are really smart, mature students who care about their communities. Hopefully, when the show comes on, people will find a little hope in that.

'School Pride': Sneak peek NBC's feel-good reality makeover show
NBC wants to get into the life-changing, tearjerker reality show business in earnest.

The network has added the uplifting alternative program "School Pride" to the curriculum for fall.

It's sort of an "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" but the edifice being made over isn't a house, but a public school that's badly in need of repair. In the sneak peeks below, check out the crew coming to revamp Enterprise Middle School in Compton, Calif.

Leading the students, teachers and parents in changing this key element in their community is a team of four -- Swat Commander Tom Stroup, interior designer Susie Castillo ("House of Payne"), comedian and former substitute teacher Kym Whitley ("Til Death") and political correspondent Jacob Soboroff ("AMC News").

"School Pride" is executive produced by "Curb Your Enthusiasm" actress Cheryl Hines and Denise Cramsey ("Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "True Beauty").
