James D. Schumacher III was born in Stuttgart Germany to an Author and a Photographer. James grew up around art and photography; his parents introduced him to novels and movies to help his creativity. Novels like "Of mice and men" and movies like "Apollo 13, Forrest Gump, Edward Scissorhands, Contact and Ghostbusters" inspired him to start writing and directing films at a very young age.

James got a hold of his father's VHS camera and shot his first movie at the age of ten, it was then however that tragedy struck his family. During that time James sought the comfort of the familiar worlds that novels and films created; it was here that James made the final decision. Using the pain from his Mother's illness, he set forth and starting moving forward with his dream of writing and directing film.

Throughout school James continued his pursuit of his dreams, choosing to write for many of the early years. Writing short stories, novels and several screenplays, it wasn't until the latter years of his high school years that his passion in the moving image was reignited. The last two years of high school he spent working with several people from his media classes creating several short films.

After high school while everybody else ran to the nearest college, James approached a local television station, applied and was quickly hired on as a production assistant. Quickly he rose through the ranks, and eventually he landed on the morning show as the director of the morning newscast.

James continued to direct for several years, before eventually leaving to work towards writing and directing film professionally. Using a unique style of dramatic themes with escapism visuals, and molding real life occurrences from his life into his films has allowed him to create several award winning films.

After the untimely death of his mother in 2009, James began to aggressively push into filmmaking.

The first being an award winning post-apocalyptic film titled "26 Years" that was based on the experience of watching his mother struggle to find herself again after she was in a coma.

The second being an award winning drama titled "Into That Good Night" that again was based on an actual conversation he had with his mother two days before her untimely death. This film went on to be used by several hospice care centers in California to help grieving families learn to cope with loss.

The third film, The Astronaut, is the story of a father and son centered around his relationship with his own father has been receiving strong praise after it's theatrical release and just recently in the film was in the 2015 Festival de Cannes in France.

James has also expanded into graphic novels, with his breakout horror novel "Inheritance", which is a story about two generations of a family that struggles to piece their world back together. Release set for late 2015.

James has quickly made a name for himself as a filmmaker and writer that creates emotionally evocative stories with hard driving heart wrenching stories.
