Like the traditional telenovela, it will be stripped daily but unlike the popular genre, will run for only 70 45-minute episodes instead of the 100-plus episodes typical of the original format that originated in Latin America.

Gracia reconnects with her first love, Miguel, who is now engaged to Ester. However, his brother Tano, is still in love with her and refuses to back down.

The Walt Disney Co.’s streamer is gearing up to launch a very different type of streaming content with Regreso a Las Sabinas (Return to Las Sabinas), a 70-episode daily series from Spain that kicks off with the first five episodes on Oct. 11. The remaining episodes will be released one a day Monday to Friday starting on Oct. 14.
Sofia Fábregas, vp of original production at Disney+, Walt Disney Co. Spain, discussed the experiment of bringing such an ambitious melodrama production to the streaming world in during an event in Madrid on Tuesday. After all, the Disney+ show is the first daily streaming series made in Spain.
The need for streamers to keep viewers engaged by offering fresh content regularly could well explain the series. But the show also took two and a half years to make, and more episodes means more money spent. So Fábregas and her team’s decision came down to core values.

One of the most anticipated of Spanish TV fiction titles for 2021, Movistar Plus’ Original Series “Antidisturbios” (“Riot Police”), the first full TV series created by filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen, was the subject of an international presentation on Tuesday at Conecta Fiction Reboot.
Part of the 4th Latin America-Europe TV co-production meeting, running June 15-18 in Pamplona, Spain, the event has been forced online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. An on-site edition is scheduled to return to Pamplona’s Baluarte Congress Center over Sept. 2-3.
Suggesting a strategic aim of strengthening its position not only as a global producer but also as a distributor of at least its key original TV dramas, Telefonica’s Movistar Plus is for the moment directly handling international sales on Sorogoyen’s “Riot Police,” the action thriller mini-series produced for Movistar by Sorogoyen’s Caballo Films and The Lab.
