She is half Indian and half Scottish.

She graduated from Princeton University (Sociology Major with a Certificate in the Program of Theatre and Dance) and was awarded the Francis LeMoyne Page upon graduation for excellence in the Performing Arts. She also has an MBA from Pepperdine University, which she completed at night so she could attend auditions and work during the day.

Growing up, she was an American Ballet Theatre Coca-Cola Scholar in ABT's National Training Program which allowed her to study and train in classical ballet in NYC under full scholarship. She began her career in LA as a professional dancer. She appeared in Taylor Swift's music video "Shake It Off" as a ballerina, toured throughout China with Cirque "Le Noir" and was a dancer in "The Illusionists" Broadway US National tour.
