Born in Ascot, Berkshire, Ben Probert grew up alongside his two brothers and younger sister. He attended Charters School in Sunningdale from 1999 to 2004, focusing on Drama and Art. After school, he worked in catering while awaiting acceptance into an apprenticeship program. He later qualified as an electrician, earning a degree in Electrotechnical Technology.
Despite pursuing a technical career, Ben's passion for filmmaking and acting remained strong. He attended acting workshops and co-founded Full House Productions with his brother, Josh Probert, and friend, Josh Reeve. Together, they wrote and produced two short films, numerous sketches, and a popular web series, which garnered media attention and landed them on the front page of the Bracknell News.
In 2011, Ben was introduced to filmmaker Luke Tedder and was cast as Jason in the feature film For My Brother. This collaboration led to his lead role in Faux Pas later that year. In 2012, he produced and starred in the post-apocalyptic drama Toxicity, which was selected for the Cannes Short Film Corner. Around this time, he also joined L&A Pictures (later rebranded Landa Pictures) in a production capacity.
By 2015, Ben had built a diverse acting portfolio, securing roles in notable feature films such as The Monuments Men, Powder Room, and A Royal Night Out. His work with Landa Pictures continued to grow, resulting in the production of 11 short films and two web series.
In 2016, Ben and Luke Tedder produced Landa Pictures' first feature film, Precognition, in which Ben played the role of Hunter. The film premiered at Sci-Fi London and Other Worlds Austin before its release on Amazon Prime and YouTube in 2018.
From 2019 to 2022, Landa Pictures produced its second sci-fi feature, A Universe Apart, which is currently in post-production. Amidst the global pandemic, Ben also wrote and directed the short film Self-Isolation, which won multiple festival awards, including Best Film and Best Acting Duo (alongside his brother, Josh).
In 2024, Ben secured the lead role in Landa Pictures' third feature film, The Caretaker, set for festival release in 2025.
With a career spanning acting, writing, directing, and producing, Ben Probert continues to make a mark in independent cinema, bringing compelling stories to life through his creative vision and dedication.
