‘The Chicken Sisters’ Renewed For Season 2 By Hallmark; David James Elliott To Join Cast

The Hallmark Channel has renewed The Chicken Sisters for a second season.

Production begins today in Vancouver on the series that stars Schuyler Fisk (Amanda), Genevieve Angelson (Mae), Lea Thompson (Nancy) and Wendie Malick (Gus). The series about a restaurant rivalry is an adaptation of Kj Dell’Antonia’s novel of the same name and was a Reese Witherspoon book club selection.

David James Elliott (Jag) is joining the series in a recurring role. He plays someone who shows up to town from Gus’ past.

For Season 2, Erin Gibson (Throwing Shade) was upped from the writers room to take over as showrunner and EP.

Lifetime Sets Fall Movie Slate Featuring Heather Locklear, Ana Ortiz, Karrueche Tran & More

Exclusive: Lifetime has set six new original films to premiere this fall as part of its “Ripped from the Headlines” movie slate starring Heather Locklear, Ana Ortiz, Lyndsy Fonseca, Jackie Cruz, Sheila E. and Karrueche Tran. The new movies will air on Saturdays at 8 p.m./7 c.

These films join the previously announced movies, Buried Alive and Survived (Sept 21) starring Eva Marcille, and He Slid into Her DMs (Sept 28) with Courtney Thorne Smith.

A play on Three Men and a Baby, Paul Campbell & Kimberley Sustad created a fun, family Christmas movie starring Campell, Tyler Hynes, and Andrew Walker and brought the theatrical film’s Margaret Colin along for the ride.

The result was pure joy, with a story packed with holiday sentiment, family frustrations, and great love.

Martini Film Studios Takes Majority Stake in Lighthouse Pictures (Exclusive)

Martini Film Studios, operator of a giant studio complex outside Vancouver, has taken a majority stake in Lighthouse Pictures, a genre film and TV production banner led by Jamie Goehring and Shawn Williamson.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the transaction will see Lighthouse Pictures’ current management and production teams remain at the company.

“Over recent years, I have witnessed the great reputation and success that Jamie and Shawn have built with Lighthouse Pictures and the quality of their work. We have had the pleasure of working closely with their teams, hosting many of their productions at our production facilities and backlot,” Gemma Martini, CEO of Martini Film Studios, said in a statement.

As Actors Strike Ends, Major Production Hubs In Canada Hope For Brisk Business Again

Having breathed a collective sigh of relief, Canadian film and TV players are ready for action as American production is set to return north of the border after SAG-AFTRA reached a tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

But just how soon Hollywood gets back to Canada, and how, has dominated conversations in key production hubs like Vancouver and Toronto after U.S. actors and the major studios and streamers agreed terms for a new contract.

The Canadian sector knows it won’t be as easy as turning the lights back on, as the major studios still have headwinds and roadblocks coming out of the dual strikes, including cost pressures as their streaming platforms claw their way to profitability.

Planned Vancouver studio could increase metropolitan area’s film capacity by 15%
Martini Film Studios facility would feature more than 600,000 sq ft of soundstages, offices, production support buildings.

A major new studio development has been earmarked for the Vancouver area that its backers claim could increase the metropolitan area’s film capacity by 15%.

The development announced by Martini Film Studios on Saturday (7) would feature more than 600,000 sq ft of purpose-built soundstages, offices and production support buildings over more than 25 acres in Langley, 40 minutes from downtown Vancouver.

Martini plans to dedicate at least 300,000 sq ft to soundstages, and the studio project is in the design and planning stage based on industry and client consultation.
