Tyler Perry has a new show arriving on Netflix tomorrow. It's called She the People, and you'll likely enjoy this series if you're a fan of his comedy work. Based on the trailer alone, it looks like a show that you'll be laughing at nonstop. The show's cast is also made up of some well-known actors, so there's much to look forward to.

She the People is one of Perry's projects that is part of his ongoing partnership with Netflix. He created the series along with Niya Palmer. Famous for being deeply involved in most of his projects, he’s equally committed to this new Netflix series. Not only did he produce, but he also wrote the scripts and directed episodes.

Terri J. Vaughn, who most people will recognize from her previous role as Lovita Alizay Jenkins-Robinson in The Steve Harvey Show, takes on the lead role in this new comedy series.

Fans were happy to learn that Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black was renewed for a second season back in March, and now they have even more to be excited about. The multi-talented filmmaker is bringing a brand-new series to Netflix this May, and this time, he’s switching gears with his first comedy for the streamer.

Titled She The People, this marks the second show that Perry is working on as part of his ongoing agreement with Netflix. Under this deal, Perry has committed to creating content for the platform, including writing, producing, and directing a variety of movies, TV series, and faith-based projects.

While Perry writes, directs, and produces this new comedy series, Niya Palmer is also a co-creator of the show. She executive produces alongside Keisha Lance Bottoms and Terri J. Vaughn. In addition, Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland produce for Tyler Perry Studios.

Tyler Perry’s sitcom for the streamer, She the People, will launch in two parts, the streamer announced today. An eight-episode part one tranche drops on May 22, with part two, also eight episodes, following on August 14.

BET has set a new four-part original limited series, Carl Weber’s The Black Hamptons, from The New York Times best-selling author of the same name and the executive producers of the popular BET+ original drama, The Family Business.

The show is a new family drama set in the quaint town of Sag Harbor, known as “The Black Hamptons,” in Long Island, NY. From luxury communities to historic beachfront enclaves, the story will follow the brewing feud between the ‘Brittons’ and the ‘Johnsons,’ where the difference between old and new money is very apparent.

This year’s American Black Film Festival lineup is stacked with some of the top names in Hollywood as well as emerging voices including a screening of Reginald Hudlin’s The Black Godfather, a conversation with Spike Lee and his protege Stefon Bristol as well as the five finalists for HBO Short Film Competition, which is now in its 22nd year. The fest takes place June 12-16 in Miami.

The program will also include the previously announced opening night film Shaft. New Line Cinema’s reboot of the iconic character will screen at the fest ahead of its June 14 release. In addition, Netflix will screen the Chris Robinson-directed Beats, a coming-of-age drama set in Chicago’s South Side hip-hop scene starring Anthony Anderson.
