Death 4 Dinner Review: Paré and Kinney Serve Up Sharp Detection
Image
At its core, Death 4 Dinner presents itself as a modern take on the classic murder‑mystery whodunit, tinged with dry humor. Directed by Lana Read and released in 2025, the film nods to fan favorites like Knives Out and Agatha Christie adaptations, yet carves its own niche through a tightly wound puzzle and tongue‑in‑cheek dialogue.

The action unfolds in a grand, storm‑shattered manor where Senator Andrew Rutherford collapses mid‑meal, revealing cyanide‑laced soup as the culprit. Trapped by weather and suspicion, the household’s guests quickly shift from mourners to suspects. Read’s screenplay lays out each narrative piece with precision, ensuring that every whispered confession or revealing glance deepens the mystery.

Leading the inquiry, Michael Paré embodies Detective Noah Rafferty with a measured, Columbo‑style persistence, while Wendell Kinney’s Detective Isaiah Baker provides a lively counterpoint as the eager newcomer. Among the ensemble, Erik Fellows...

Official Trailer for Mystery Thriller 'Death 4 Dinner' with Michael Pare
Image
"Great – now we're all stuck here with a murderer!" Gravitas has debuted the trailer for an indie mystery thriller titled Death 4 Dinner, which will be out on VOD in March. The latest film produced & directed by Lana Read, even though you've never heard of any of her previously films. "The devil is in the details." A savvy Detective and his partner attempt to unravel the mysterious sudden death of a prominent Senator, while simultaneously navigating his insanely quirky family & their fierce appetites for the now dead father's money. The film's cast includes Michael Paré, Wendell Kinney, John Savage, Cyril O'Reilly, Jessica Dawn Willis, Erik Fellows, Carly Wheeler, and Lenny Robinson. This sounds and looks like such a derivative film with an extra generic whodunit plot about greed & murder and all the usual shenanigans that come with these things. Despite its funny title, I don't think there's much of anything worthwhile about this.
