NBC is tapping into Universal Pictures' horror catalog once again by developing a TV series based on the 2010 feature film The Wolfman, which starred Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. That film was a remake of the 1941 classic The Wolf Man that starred Lon Chaney Jr. as the title character.
Dracula head writer and executive producer Daniel Knauf is writing the pilot script and executive producing. The show will tackle themes of being a man and a human, centering on Lawrence Talbott, who suffers from an ancient curse that transforms him into a vicious werewolf when a full moon appears.
Scott Stuber, who produced The Wolfman movie, will serve as executive producer alongside Daniel Knauf and Quan Phung. No production schedule was given, but if the network orders The Wolfman to series, it will likely find a home on its Friday night block of supernatural-themed programming, which includes Grimm and Dracula.

Universal Pictures is starting over on The Wolfman, with a brand new straight-to-dvd reboot in the works.
The studio is currently seeking out writers to tackle a new incarnation of the classic monster tale. Like the 2010 movie The Wolfman, this remake will also be a period piece, although no other plot details were revealed.
The Wolfman took in $61 million at the domestic box office and just under $140 million worldwide. The production budget was listed at $150 million.
The move is similar to Universal's straight-to-dvd franchise it launched with Death Race 2 in January.
The Wolfman was released February 12th, 2010 and stars Simon Merrells, Gemma Whelan, Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, Mario Marin-Borquez, Asa Butterfield, Cristina Contes, Anthony Hopkins. The film is directed by Joe Johnston.

The armorer, Nick Jeffries on the new Joe Johnston film talks about his experiences on the set
At the heart of any good action film are its weapons and the man that trains the actors on the safety and proper usage of those weapons are obviously an integral part of any action film's process. Then, if you consider a period piece such as The Wolfman, which arrives on DVD and Blu-ray today, June 1, the armorer Nick Jeffries is an even more vital part of the production. Jeffries is no stranger to working with period weapons, as he has worked on period action films such as Defiance and last year's blockbuster Sherlock Holmes. I recently had the chance to speak with Jeffries over the phone about his work on The Wolfman and here's what he had to say.
