Biography

    • Born in Cambridge Ontario, Matthew started acting in grade three when cast as the lead in The Pied Piper of Hamlin. Since then he has acted in multiple shows a year in productions around the globe in works ranging from world premieres to remounts of ancient texts. From 1998-2003 Matthew attended theatre and drama school in Toronto. He attended different conservatory programs including U of T, Sheridan College and George Brown College. His formal training introduced him to different styles and languages to perform in such as Commedia D'Elle Arte, French and Italian, as well as gave him a solid foundation in stage combat and clowning. Matthew produced, directed and acted in several plays a year, including Dark Circus for Fringe 2001, and He Said Yes/He Said No in Summerworks 2000. Upon graduation Matthew joined Christian Debney and Jamie Hilton in Bondi Beach NSW Australia to launch the company HIlton Media. Working with Chris, they co-wrote a feature film script entitled "Savant". As Assistant Producer, Editor, and Writer he worked on dozens of music videos and shorts including the award winning, "Boy's Own Story", and "Short Film". He acted in several commercials and had a lead in a production of Mary of Scotland at the UNSW. His life took him to Florida where he worked with the Ocala Theatre and performed with a long running improv troupe. He also co-wrote another feature film entitled "Dreamhorse" about thoroughbred racing. Matthew then ran a theatre company in North Bay Ontario and produced several shows including "The Ends of the Earth" and "Death of a Salesman". In 2010 he moved back to Toronto where he founded the company Frolick. Frolick's shows have been wide and varied from childrens theatre to interactive Halloween Hauntings to classical theatrical offerings such as A Midsummer Nights Dream and Cowboy Mouth. Matthew has a professional circus career and is considered the best stilt performer in Toronto. Matthew gallops thoroughbred racehorses professionally and has ridden many winning horses.
