Difei Zhou is known in China's film industry as producer and director in co-productions between China and the west. He was born in 1984 and raised in Beijing, China. In 2001, he moved to UK and completed his education in Manchester and Edinburgh. During his education he worked as production coordinator with 1A Productions, a BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning company, while also studying Film and Television Directing at The University of Edinburgh.
He moved back to China in 2009, and he worked on Columbia Pictures' US/China co-production of "The Karate Kid", starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. From 2010 to 2014, he was a producer at one of China's biggest production companies, Ciwen Media Group, where he produced four TV series and one feature film, including the famous "Journey to the West" series.
He was producer of "There's Always a Reason", the first Italy/China co-production, starring Maria Grazia Cucinotta, who was also the Italian producer. He also produced the first New Zealand/China co-production "Into the Rainbow" 3D, starring Willow Shields and Leo Wu.
The award winning short film "Twenty One Twenty" that Difei Zhou wrote, produced and directed, accepted by many international film festivals, including wining the Taormina International Film Festival Award.
