Biography

Shé D'Montford

Edit

Biography

    • Shé D'Montford was only 8-years-old when she was first asked to appear in ABC educational programs filmed at her Gold Coast school. Working in modeling, film and television for her has continued to happen by invitation or as happy accidents to this day.

As with many women on the Gold Coast, modeling became a good 2nd career, allowing Shé to complete her tertiary studies. In 1991 Shé ran "Naked Eye Video Productions" with her fiancé Richard Bell, filming TV commercials and show reels for others. Many of their clients recommended her to "Looks Model Management and Casting" on the Gold Coast. Through them, Shé began to be cast in movies, TV shows and commercials filmed at Warner Brothers Movie World on the Gold Coast. (Please see Filmography & Photos for a short list of major productions and for more details) - Appearing in "The New Adventrures of Flipper" TV series, as a regular guest bikini girl and jogging on the beach in her bikini in the opening credits, got her invited to appear on chat shows in the UK, where the show was a phenomenon, out rating "Bay Watch."

Through a "Naked Eye" connection, both Shé and Ric were asked to assist in the construction of the Mr Freeze costume and The Catwoman costume for the Australian release of "Batman Returns". Shé was asked to be the full body cast to create the iconic cat-woman outfit.

Shé moved to Sydney in 2002. Shé's manager, Robert from "Looks" passed away in 2003. Shé, now aged 40, assumed that her career in film and Television was coming to an end, but she was wrong. For the time being, Shé decided to focus on her writing and in 2005, Shé toured the US giving lecture tours and promoting her books and magazines. Shé appeared on 'New York Today' whilst she was there

By 2008, Shé had landed a lead in the world's first psychic reality TV show "The One" for The Seven Network, loosely based on a show submission "Occulture Australia" that Shé had written. It became the top rating show that year. "The One" (series 1 - 2008) and "The One" (series 2 - 2011) was an Australian 'reality' TV show based on the idea that some people have psychic or supernatural powers. Each show put the contestants, who claim to have such powers, to a series of tests. Each show saw the elimination of one or more of the contestants until only 3 were left. The winner was then decided by a phone poll from viewers. Shé got the most tests right but was eliminated in the 4th episode. Yet, because of her evident compassion, and her abilities demonstrated amazingly well, Shé remained a crowd favorite. On the strength of her appearance in "The One" Shé began to tour Australia performing live stage shows and guest starring at alternative fairs such as the very large "Mind Body & Spirit" festivals.

In 2012 Shé's popularity swelled and Shé was invited to appear in a Dutch production "Ushi Must Marry," as herself.

Re-runs of "The One" overseas introduced Shé to a much larger audience. In 2013 Shé began regular overseas tours to Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. An entire episode of "Made in Hong Kong TV" was devoted to her in 2014. This all came to a grinding halt in 2019 with the advent of the international lock-down response to Covid19.

In October 2020, whilst running for a Queensland state election, Shé was spotted and head-hunted to join "Chic Talent Management" in Brisbane who immediately cast her in Baz Lhurman's next major production.
