Jill Campbell
Jill Campbell is an independent documentary Director, Producer, and Editor. She began her career in the theater, writing and producing plays at New Yorks Public Theater, LaMama, the Dublin Fringe Festival, across the London fringe scene, and as a fellow at Mabou Mines before transitioning into documentary production with the 2010 documentary "Dancing Across Borders" (Seattle Film Festival, Netflix, Apple TV.). Following the success of that first feature, Jill has worked as a producer on over 15 feature and short-form documentaries that have screened at major festivals worldwide including Tribeca, DOC NYC, Atlanta, Art Fifa, Hamptons Doc Fest, Montclair, Miami, Seattle, Woodstock, and Warsaw. Most recently Jill was a Field Producer on the documentary, "Never Too Late: The Doc Severinsen Story" (Kevin Bright, Jeff Consiglio, American Masters, 2020).

Jill has written and directed three feature-length documentaries including "Mr. Chibbs" (Cargo Films), a 2017 Village Voice Critic's Pick, "Mr. Chibbs" traces the rise and fall of NBA legend Kenny Anderson and "Seat 20D" (First Run Features, 2020) a meditation on the healing power of self-expression that follows artist Suse Lowenstein's journey to overcome her grief following the murder of her son through the creation of Dark Elegy, a large-scale sculpture garden in Montauk, NY. Both films are streaming on Amazon, Kanopy, and Apple TV.

Jill obtained her MFA from Hunter College's IMA program where she concentrated on documentary filmmaking. In 2015, she was awarded a fellowship to Killer Films/Stonybrook Southampton's 20/20/20 program and has been a Mabou Mines Resident Artist. She is the Chair of the Producer Guild's Documentary Salon and has been an Adjunct instructor at Purchase College and at Adelphi University.

Beyond the Gaze: Jule Campbell's Swimsuit Issue premiere at Woodstock Film Festival in 2024 where Jill was nominated for Best Director of a Documentary. Beyond the Gaze won Best Documentary at Omaha Film Festival (2025) and the Grand Jury, Best of Festival award at Vermont Film and Folklore Festival.
